December 20, 20241 yr Or, just maybe, the western tech is not used as freely as the old soviet era. Highly subjective video in my opinion, but than again I don't follow the conflict that closely. What I did hear is that Kursk is the biggest graveyard of western weapons so far in the war, which would make sense as the Ukrainians were on the offensive there. December 20, 20241 yr Kursk is definitely the biggest graveyard for western weapons as Ukraine has mostly used their best units there and they're mostly armed with western weapons. (The only weapon system that is 'dominating' in Ukraine are $1000 chinese drones. The vast majority of everything else on both sides has massively underperformed in both absolute terms and in terms of expectation. In terms of the video things like the Strid122 are dominating so much that Ukraine are down to 2 (two) operational vehicles... and barring a couple of artillery strikes they've all been got by those cheap drones)

January 7, 20251 yr I was laughing my ass off seeing all the news articles regarding China's 6th gen prototype flying, especially because not long before people were saying it was just a ground model that was for show. All through the late Cold War, (West) Germany had the largest armed forces in Europe. As an American taxpayer I am happy to see Germany *finally* stepping up to its responsibilities and obligations and doing its fair share for NATO collective security, though I'll believe it only when I see it.
June 30, 2025Jun 30 We sure want them to have the bigliest army when the AfD wins next election. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

The situation isn't directly comparable. During the Cold War, the US and Germany had a powerful opponent in common. At present, that may no longer be the case. The change in interests can (and probably will) lead to a divergence of political motivations. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."

Yes, now they have a powerful opponent (in Europe) but we don't. So if anything, they should be spending more than us.
