there was also trade before what is mentioned in above. America was and is profiteering on any war from WW1.

There is no definition of this word, in any dictionary, that makes true the statement: "America was 'funding' everyone before WW2 including soviets." Your link tells of the well-known Lend-Lease aid which I referenced before (so I don't see why you felt the need to link it to me), which only started arriving in in 1941 (WWII is generally agreed to have begun with Germany's invasion of Poland, in Sept. 1939), and only after Germany broke their non-aggression pact with the USSR. Furthermore, the Soviets still had to pay for the stuff, even at heavy discounts. That debt carried over and survived the Soviet Union, and was only fully liquidated in 2006.

but it was before US went into war. thats why I am saying before. You are looking for semantics the point still same. USA gave or traded weapons with all sides of conflict BEFORE they became part of it

No. You simply were wrong in stating that the US were funding the Soviets before WWII, because WWII started in 1939, and not in 1941 when the US entered the war.

Only source I saw for that was some sketchy Twitter account. If he is dead, pretty sure I'll hear about it from the press here though.

'Wali' was supposedly blown up at Yavoriv, the training facility close to Poland that got hit by cruise missiles yesterday. Large grain of salt to be taken on him specifically since he's famous and was in a load of media stories when he volunteered, and his death makes a good PR story for Russia*. Though the statement that literally no foreigners died there from Ukraine's PR also seems... unlikely given the number of CMs used.

There has also been at least a bit of a media push even among pro Ukrainian sources to moderate expectations for volunteers post Yavoriv.

*For that reason I suspect if he is alive we'll get confirmation fairly quickly.

I fully understand that.

I am not supporter of what NATO did in the past, and I am ashamed one of our prime ministers was part of it. Unfortunately the tide of time shows again and again, what happens to small nations if they are not part of any pact, if their neighbour got nukes :(And I do not want to see what is happening to Ukraine to happen to my country as well :(

From what I understood, they were hit by a lot of missiles, but the big number of casualties is because one of the rockets hit directly one of the barracks, other rocksets were not so accurate. According to Ukraine this barrack was full of Ukrainian soldiers only (we should take this with grain of salt or two). Wali though was apparently in Ukraine before March 4th. So I highly doubt, that such an asset would be still near Polish borders waiting for 10 days. :shrugz:The fact that there are already 12 12 high commanders down as of yesterday gives a high probability, that the snipers like him are at this time already deep in the Ukrainian territory.

We'll see.

First report about Wali from Canada published on March 4th.

Meh, Bayraktards would claim Russian soldiers stubbing their toes was caused by drones. It's as always plain old artillery, mostly, though almost all those deaths are still unconfirmed.

As for why Wali might have been at Yavoriv, it is a training facility. If he can't speak Ukrainian or at a pinch Russian well or at all he may be of more use training people who he can communicate with. Same reason I'd be very skeptical of those reports of Syrians being recruited as snipers and the like, the more complex the orders they have to receive the more difficult it is to use them and the greater the scope for mistakes. Hence they'll be used in bodies on the ground roles where minimal instruction is needed.

That Ukraine would have to give in on NATO membership has been mentioned by many people (myself included) for weeks. The same for getting back the Crimea.

Dont waste your time with these types of debates with 2133, he is just mad because  Putin has been proven to be the bigger liar and warmonger than the West and specifically the US. So now he will argue some arcane historical point as if it makes a difference but end of the day like you said " it doesnt change anything " and Putins legacy has been destroyed forever  ....Putin cannot ever come back from this invasion of Ukraine

But this invasion has united the West in ways I didnt think was possible and more important its united the EU even more and made NATO stronger

What a strange way to look at the events of history, of course their are bad guys in almost  every conflict. The NAZI were the bad guys in WW2 and Russia are the bad guys here

They decided to recreate the borders of a sovereign country and then invaded that country. Yes they the bad guys and we should be able call them out

Made no difference to Putin as he shot down peace talks on 'insufficient progress' .
Besides NATO there will also be the EU and entire political future of Ukraine.

And there is always the problem that Ukraine will still expect security guarantees elsewhere, even if it's hard to imagine who would provide them.
