Chilloutman
best part of Mechanicus is sound track, I am even listening to it when I drive around in a car xD 1 I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. Tale
How did I get dragged into Ark? For the longest time I thought it was just running around shooting other dudes and riding dinos. I guess I just found out you don't have to play it PvP. So now I'm doing singleplayer and cheating my ass off to avoid the grind. Just started taking down the bosses of the first map. marelooke
Picked up Horizon Zero Dawn on Gog. This is pretty much the type of thing I do constantly these days. Doesn't matter how good the game is, if it has a lot of grind I'm going to be looking up cheat engine tables or something. I rarely fire up a game lately anyway - I definitely don't want to play 5-6 hours a day, every day, to get to the "fun stuff/options" anymore. Borderlands 3 just raised the level cap again (72). I knew they would, not sure why anyone is surprised. Which is why I didn't bother grinding the last time they did. I bet they'll raise it again in 4-5 months, to 80. I'll wait, so I only have to grind once. Or if I can find one that works, I'll just use a trainer to level up guns. Edit: sometimes I wish games like this had a toggle option to halt XP entirely, so you could play without leveling up/making your gear obsolete, until you felt like dealing with such. Mamoulian War
I have started another game made in Slovakia - Loria. Looks like we have more of them, than I've imagined It is Indie old school Real Time Strategy very similar to Warcraft 2. You are fighting in the first campaign as Humans (Order) versus Demons (Chaos). The best thing is, that this game is currently free on GOG. So if you are craving for some oldschool action, with some quality of life improvements to Warcraft 2 and 3, you can get it here https://www.gog.com/game/loria 2 Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Keyrock
I finished Call of the Sea. Pretty dang good first person puzzle game and quite lovely visually. It took me a little under 12 hours to finish. The game has 2 endings, both bitersweet. You can save right before the choice at the end, so it's quite easy to watch both endings. I definitely recommend it if you are into puzzle games, it's priced well for the amount of content and quality of the game. 1 RFK Jr 2024 "Any organization created out of fear must create fear to survive." - Bill Hicks
Malcador
Coworkers wanted to play Predator Hunting Grounds. This game is an utter waste of time, one out of our party always has people bug out, or have invisible enemies shooting at them - I assume this is due to how the hosting works. As for the game itself, can't imagine this will hold much of a playerbase for people to get through the progression grinds (nothing like getting clothing colours in the loot boxes). LadyCrimson
Besides Sekiro, I also bought Deep Rock Galactic on sale. Mostly I wanted to see if it might be something hubby and I would want to try. I'd say hubby would be "no" and.. I think the gameplay concepts I might be ok with myself, but there's something wrong with the point of view for me. It's set underground, in cavern environments (you're a dwarf, mining and fighting monsters and short-questing or something) and in 1st person. I've spent tons of hours in 7 Days mining/"living" underground, but despite the simple/"cartoonish" visuals of Deep Rock, and putting FoV as wide as possible, it's really claustrophobic and I'm not enjoying moving/looking around within the game at all. My eyes really dislike it, not sure why. I'm torn between refunding it or giving it more of a chance. “Things are as they are. Was neat, but I had kind of suddenly come to the realization that I just wasn't into the narrative, and for a narrative-driven game (albeit with puzzles and environments better than your typical walking simulator), it just doesn't make sense to keep playing, so I never picked it up again, . BruceVC
I completed Control yesterday, it was an entertaining experience and earns a respectful 60/100 on the globally respected " BruceVC gaming rating system " I spent about 40 hours to finish the main quest which is a good amount of time to comment on this type of gaming experience and design The overall narrative is compelling which is always a very important component, IMO, on the overall view of the game. And it was exciting learning about the The Old House, the Hiss, the Bureau and then how the protagonist, Jessie, and her brother are connected to all these developments and people. From a lore perspective you have loads of these partial descriptions of past events hidden in places that you can review later to understand how dark events occurred to create this current nightmare in the Old House The combat works and is well designed and implemented . You learn and advance abilities which you adopt in battles which makes skill advancement strategic and rewarding, I never got tired of using Telekinesis to annihilate enemies And enjoyment of combat in these types shooters is a hugely important when you tend to face waves of hiss infested enemies And finally the side-quests are a nice distraction that you can gain some unique rewards like the Shield ability. Its great knowing something significant awaits you at the end of a mission that is completely optional So its a good game and worth purchasing for this type of experience "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Mamoulian War
I have just finished Order Campaign in Loria. The game decided to throw 4 different AI enemies against me in the last mission, and I've spent more than three hours to be able to defeat them after two restarts of the mission. The difficulty of the game is between OK to very hard, and in the last mission, I had to rebuild my army three times, to be able to finally destroy the Chaos main base, and finish the first half of the story. Tale
I finished The Island portion of Ark and moved on to Scorched Earth. I pretty much have to start over. None of my Tek transferred. I'm not even sure if my Tek Rex is about, maybe he's at the obelisk. So I've started over for many practical purposes. I'm not opposed to it. That's how survival games go. Got to build up your base again. I used the stopping point to clear up Doom 2016. I still enjoyed it. I enjoyed it lots when I started getting infinite ammo from runes and could just chaingun demons at range all day long. And then started Doom Eternal. It's... something different. The combat perhaps takes itself way too seriously. Tiny arenas and probably way too many enemies. Low ammo caps, too much obsession over weaknesses and counters. Can't just enjoy my plasma rifle because it has barely any ammo and I'll probably need it if those shielded dudes show up. The power fantasy is lost and it just feels like I'm playing a bunch of noise. On the plus side, the secret hunting and platforming is actually kind of fun.
