the_ragnarokkr Posted October 25, 2019 Posted October 25, 2019 Let me start by saying that I am loving TOW so far and this is by no means a deal breaker for me. Having said that, it is driving me CRAZY that every time I talk to someone I pull out my currently equipped weapon and shove it in their face every single time I press the interact button (X on Xbox). This is driving me absolutely CRAZY! PLEASE, Obsidian, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, PLEASE fix this immersion breaking oversight! The fix is so simple! Please just give us the option of having to hold the interact/reload button to holster/un-holster instead of just tapping it. That would fix the problem COMPLETELY! Thanks in advance! 4 3 "Too much of the animal disfigures the civilized human being, too much culture makes a sick animal."
Marll Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 I agree 100%, this is the only thing that that drives me crazy with the controls, everything else works great. 1 1
GhostofAnakin Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Heh, noticed the same thing for me on the PS4 version. I went to talk to my companion and suddenly gun's pointed right in their face. Minor thing, but yeah, hopefully it gets fixed. 1 "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Jozape Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Does this matter at any point? It seems like something that one would reasonably expect NPCs to react to at some point. I only noticed this after stomping around the area before the first town and now I'm not sure if I should wait for a fix because of it. 1
Del-Dredd Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 Try pointing cursor at the dialog first before clicking X maybe.
the_ragnarokkr Posted October 26, 2019 Author Posted October 26, 2019 Glad to see I'm not the only one affected by this. Hopefully, Obsidian will help us with this. 2 "Too much of the animal disfigures the civilized human being, too much culture makes a sick animal."
Marll Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 8 hours ago, grooner said: Also on transitioning areas it unholsters Right, so far I’ve noticed that it does this when attempting to talk to NPCs, transitioning areas, and interacting with objects (first noticed it when using the elevator in the Saltuna Cannery). I’m not sure if NPCs ever react to drawing your gun, but assume they may. Beyond that, having to constantly re-holster my weapon is driving me bonkers.
grooner Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 It prob is OK, but in many similar games NPCs can be hostile to weapons drawn and holstering can defuse conflict - but in this game it doesnt seem to matter,
Jozape Posted October 26, 2019 Posted October 26, 2019 A temporary fix is to switch to a melee weapon and holstering before talking to an NPC to avoid drawing a gun on them. Found this solution on the subreddit. Now I can play worry free, yay.
Grubbs008 Posted October 27, 2019 Posted October 27, 2019 Anytime you talk to someone who does not have an actual dialog, or open a door or click on anything with the X button on an Xbox one controller or the Square button on a playstation controller, Your gun gets Un-holstered and it's breaking my immersion along with annoying the hell out of me. It's using the same holster/unholster button as the interact button, and it's REALLY REALLY annoying. This needs to be fixed, or at least let us change the controller keys. The Keyboard and mouse are fine, but i prefer to play games with my Xbox one controller on PC along with 80% of most people on PC. Fix this Please. - Everyone 2
FoOdTheEater Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 I'm about 20 minutes into the game, and this issue is already noticeable. For me, it's happening with just about any action except opening a door or looting. Playing on Xbox.
Zafar1981 Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Yes looks very odd that you are talking to some one on gun point.
craigdelish Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Same issue here. Annoying but not critical. My immersion PepeRage
mykreau Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 100% agree. Maybe a solve could be long press of x (square) for draw and holster and trigger for fast draw?
Justin Morris Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 Obsidian please fix this. Your game is amazing, to see such an oversight like this in your game is beneath you guys, c'mon.

GPSauce Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I was really hoping a Dev or Community manager would have responded to this and at least acknowledged that it was a known issue. It's really breaking the immersion for me and i am thinking about pausing my playthrough until it gets fixed; if it ever gets fixed.
Horrorscope Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 If not mentioned, even when holstering on the PC, when you go idle and it shows the team in 3rd person, the weapon is still out. Small but noting.
Rithrius Posted November 2, 2019 Posted November 2, 2019 So every time i open a door, interact with NPC's, ladders, elevators, objects, etc. I also pull out my gun. Who's the genius who mapped both actions to the same button, and when is this getting fixed? 1
macpeteo Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 If u just tap the button to open doors and hold down a bit longer for pull weapon (yes, its annoying but it is what it is), I don't think the devs will correct this in this game, maybe future version if there are any.
Wewex007 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 It would be phenomenal if this was patched to prevent our weapons from coming up every time we open a door or speak to an NPC.
Velius1 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 i didnt even knew we could put our weapon in the holster. Tried to search the key on the beginning, didnt found it, so i played the whole game with the weapon out. And as a 2H melee char, the weapon is pretty huge sometime ^^
