  1. Only if they genuinely fix bashing. At the moment in PoE, it's actually worse than a generic Large Shield.
  2. Cadegund probably surpasses Ydwin is her number of fans to information ratio. I don't quite understand it.
  3. Yeah, I think the reduction in number of backers is likely, in part, due to people becoming jaded (or at least less enthusiastic) about crowdfunding. Not necessarily PoE's crowdfunding (which was generally pretty well run) but crowdfunding in general. Still, some of those might choose to back closer to release if they like what they see.
  4. You're prepared for your leisure time to turn into more parenting?
  5. I hope that, as more details are released through updates, and Obsidian do more interviews with people like RPS, we'll see spikes in paypal backers. There are some 30,000+ PoE backers who didn't back Deadfire, I hope that a significant number of them will back eventually.
  6. Is this list of factions actually a list of in game factions? In any case, Principi seem good to me. Most of my PoE characters were Old Vailians so it kinda fits.
  7. Because I hate clickbait-titles. So you wouldn't be interested in my "seven weird tricks to make Ydwin love you" thread?
  8. I feel the same about a companion's attributes as designed representing an aspect of who they are, and I don't think I'd ever change their attributes, but I tend to fall down on the side of allowing more options for others as long as they're not going to take lots of developer time to implement (and I doubt this would). Hah, I was only kidding with respect to changing race.
  9. Or they could judge what the latest date by which they can start working on Ydwin and still release Deadfire on time, then set that date as the deadline by which slacker funds count towards stretch goals. I think I agree with Rorschach about you being over optimistic.
  10. This. Priests are probably the most powerful class when playing with a party because their buffs are just so powerful, and high Dexterity allows you to cast those buffs quickly, minimising the amount of time at the start of a combat where you party is unbuffed. Take a look at the builds list and notice that all the Priest builds have high Dexterity. On the topic of the builds lists, the Fire Priest, Support Priest and Unfaithful are all good generic Priest builds that you (the OP) might want to take a look at for inspiration. Given the Priest's low Endurance per level the 15% lost from going with Constitution 7 isn't a particularly big deal (32.4 points at level 16, 1.8 per level), so I wouldn't say it's a big deal. I'd probably go with Constitution 8 though, because I like even numbers. Huh, different strokes I guess, I actually like Act I the most because it's the most challenging part of PotD. With the notable exception of things like Dragon fights, after Act II I find PotD stops feeling all that much harder than Hard. Some other thoughts for the OP: don't worry if you find some early fights on PotD frustratingly hard, that's normal and sometimes you'll need to leave them and return later. As for weapons and armour, take a look at the builds I linked above. If you're going with Berath then you might also want to consider using a Greatsword (specifically Tidefall when it becomes available). Boeroer apparently did a Greatsword wielding Berathian Priest build that worked well, though he hasn't posted any details of it anywhere. However, if you do go this route, you might need to tweak things to make melee viable.
  11. That's what I am imitating yes, though I thought that argument was almost as old as the internet. By the way, I should state that I don't fall down strongly on either side, I am sure they were both perfectly good weapons, it's just the katana fanboys do seem to have the lion's share of the more ridiculous comments.
  12. Ah well those katanas weren't true katanas made by a true master smith over a period of twenty-five years and quenched in the tears of virgins. If they had been using those then the war would have gone very differently. (hopefully it's clear I am not being serious).
  13. One does not enjoy Durance's story, one merely endures it. Devil of Caroc is the only other companion that springs to mind as being a bit annoying in her attribute spread, but it both cases it's more of an annoyance than a real hindrance. Agreed, though I doubt I'd use it myself (unless Deadfire turns out to be a lot harder than Pillars).
  14. As AndreaColombo says, it has been stated by Obsidian that they are thinking about allowing companion restatting. One thing though: The affect of attributes on characters is vastly overstated by most (I believe based on experience of previous CRPGs, where it was important). In PoE, on any difficulty, attribute spread is relatively unimportant. There are a few specialised builds where this doesn't hold true, but in general the difference between a super optimised character and an unoptimised one is fairly negligible. For example, I almost always build Edér as a Lady of Pain which is an off-tank damage dealer. You could equally build him as a pure tank (though I think doing so with Fighters is a mistake).
  15. Apart from katanas of course. A single katana wielding master swordsman could have won the 30 years was on his own
  16. There were real cultures in Europe you know. Some say there still are, though I haven't see any culture here in Britain for a long time.
  17. Yes and no. The gunpowder technology in Eora is still at the very slow to reload stage which means in a small party skirmish there are still good reasons to favour bows and lighter crossbows (arbalests not so much since they are also very slow to reload). That said yeah, I think a bow is almost universally better than an atlatl.
  18. Definitely. It hadn't occurred to me even though it's quite an obvious (potential) flaw in the system. Have you pledged enough for beta access for Deadfire? If so, we can blame you for every problem that remains on release More seriously, I will try to spend some of my beta time actually testing things rather than simply messing around for a few hours then waiting for release.
  19. Boo! Worst shield ever... More seriously, I should have remembered that it was +5 as +10 is pretty large.
