  1. How do you find the proc rate for Enervating Blows? I had a similar idea for a Monk but assumed I'd need a high perception to ensure a high crit rate and hence a high Enervating Blows rate.
  2. Actually I did miss Lay on Hands with Pallegina in my last play through, and the only reason I didn't take Aegis was I hadn't quite realised how good it was. I'd be tempted to drop Liberating Exhortation on the above build since I rarely found myself using it, but then I somehow ended up with three Rings of Unshackling which, combined with Durance, meant I could keep people un-crowd-controlled most the time.
  3. The way I built my Fire General Pallegina was as follows: Abilities (in order taken): Flames of Devotion (automatic) Zealous Focus Sworn Enemy Reviving Exhortation Liberating Exhortation Reinforcing Exhortation Sacred Immolation ??? Talents (in order taken): Vielo Vidorio (you probably want to retrain out of this later) or Intense Flames Weapon and Shield Style Wrath of the Five Suns Scion of Flame Your choice after this This is just my interpretation of ottffsse's first post, but reordering of the above will be fine.
  4. I tend to lie somewhere in between a role-player and a powergamer myself. For example, I tend to stick to bows with Sagani because it seems wrong for this bow hunter to suddenly start using guns, but I still think about what skills will make her the best she can be with bows. Also when creating my main character I try to avoid reducing any stat below 8, and ideally most should be 10 or above, unless I can justify it in some way from an RP perspective; but at the same time I do try to make my stat spread decent within those limits.
  5. I'd kinda like it if, after completing his quest, he sets up shop permanently in Caed Nua.
  6. Given PoE isn't a multi-player game I think the balance is fine at the moment. Sure, if you unload all your per rest abilities in each fight and rest immediately afterwards then the three Vancian casters are going to be more powerful, and similarly if you avoid resting too often then classes like the chanter and cipher will come out ahead.
  7. Oh sorry, I should have read your list, I actually knew about that one and I know it needs a fairly high mechanics skill to spot (I know cause I missed it recently). I would be surprised if that's not all of them then, the next clean number would be 48 and I doubt Obsidian will have chosen a number that doesn't divide up cleanly.
  8. Either and both. The thread's not specifically for me but rather a resource for anyone looking for suggestions on companion builds (though I'm sure I'll get some good ideas from it).
  9. I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one more (probably exactly one more) since that would bring the grand total to 36, which is divisible by both 3 and 4 and hence doesn't leave a remainder when refining regardless of your choice at the end of WM1. That said, I have no idea where it might be...
  10. Yeah I saw that and thought it was a nice touch. Unfortunately she replaces it with Stormcaller pretty much straight away with me, but still, it's cool.
  11. Of course, but I can hope You might be right. I didn't want to spam the front page with eleven threads but it might be that we'll have to do it eventually. Thanks for the build. Barbarians are one of the classes I struggle to figure out how to use, and so I've tended not to take Maneha with me much at all. I guess the key to any Barbarian build is going to be making the best use of Carnage, usually through weapon procs. Also, whilst it's a silly reason to like a build, I like that you don't have to respec upon switching weapons. Also has Barbaric Blow received a buff at some point. I swear I remember it being considered pretty bad, but looking at the description it seems pretty powerful albeit only once per encounter.
  12. Indeed, I think that's part of the reason why we need such a sticky. The current sticky is (almost) all pre-2.0 builds and isn't particularly helpful characters in the post 3.0 world, but a new player might not realise this and try to use one of those builds. It's also why I think now is a good time to start work on this, since we're unlikely to see any major changes to the game now.
  13. Somewhat related to the idea raised in this thread, I'd like to start a thread for discussing builds for the official companions. If a new sticky post for builds gets created this thread will hopefully be a source of links, if not then hopefully it'll still he helpful. I definitely find that I tend not to have anywhere near as clear an idea of how to build my companions as I do my main character so either I go with one of Boeroer's builds, KDubya's Juggernaut Monk for Zahua, or some modification of one of NerdCommando's builds if neither of those fit. Recently I tried out ottffsse's Fire General build for Pallegina and realised that there is clearly a lot more potentially cool builds out there, and the purpose of this thread is to collect as many of them in one place. So, if you have any cool builds (or indeed uncool builds) for a companion feel free to post them here. Ideally you'll give a bit of context around the build: what difficulty it's designed for, whether it's min-maxed or more role-play oriented, why you made the choices you made etc. Also welcome would be any questions about how to use particularly companions, which will hopefully encourage others to post builds (I think a certain rogue will get a lot of attention here). Feedback on posted builds should be encouraged, but try to keep it civil and take into account any context given. If someone posts a role-playing build for easy mode then "that build is terrible and will never survive on PotD" is not a good thing to post. Finally, whilst I can't in any way stop people from doing so, it would be great if people could avoid negativity. I know there are some strong opinions on the viability of Barbarians, but when it comes to Maneha let's stick to ways to make her viable rather than complaints about why she can't be.
  14. Yeah, that would be great. I think now is an ideal time to start preparing something like this as the game is probably very near to it's final form.
  15. I'd like this too. What I'd really like is if we have a separate sticky for each class, though this is perhaps asking too much in terms of board real estate. I was thinking that we could start discussion threads for each class to collect all the expertise on this board in one place.
  16. Something I've noticed is that Durance's Robe, which has the Burn Proof enchantment on it, has a DR of 12 again Burning damage, when it should be just 6 (3 for Robe and 3 for Burn Proof). It's kinda cool that they made Durance's gear a little unique (the Staff does Crush/Burn rather than merely Crush).
  17. I've built my Pallegina in this fashion and I've got to say, it kinda rocks. In particular Wrath of the Five Suns is a ridiculously powerful opener. Strange how Pallegina went from being one of the worst companions to being one of the best.
  18. How about naked noober. Just to be kind, we'll let you level to level 2 and take Novice's Suffering :D
  19. Hey! I have a sweet stronghold, I need to decorate it with something, and adventuring doesn't provide me with many opportunities to obtain fancy paintings so I go with spare weapons.
  20. Difficulty wise I don't think there's anything that can top your achievement Harpoagornis, other than Iron Man Noober. I suppose you could try to beat some of the other bounties and bosses you avoided with Noober?
  21. Yesterday I got a beautiful Torment's Reach off, it hit something like 8 enemies. I really wish it had a target indicator so I could use it better.
  22. Yeah, the last few odd Monk levels do have a lot of nice choices. It's a shame you can't somehow take Iron Wheel instead of Turning Wheel. Out of interest KDubya, how're your experiments with a higher Intellect Monk going so far, if at all?
  23. After level 9 a melee wizard can take Concelhaut's Parasitic Staff as a per encounter ability, somewhat ameliorating the problem of having having to go into energy saving mode in filler fights.
  24. My hard difficulty monk is primarily using his fists, and wearing exceptional padded armour (eventually I intend to wear just normal clothing) so I think it's very possible. The game was a bit rough for the first few levels, and I stooped to wearing leather, but at level 7 he's doing fine as a tank/damage dealer. Obviously paths of the damned is harder, so I'd expect a longer time struggling near the start (or accepting you have to wear heavier armour) but I'd be surprised if a low armoured monk using his fists isn't viable at later levels in PotD. For reference I am roughly speaking using KDubya's Juggernaut monk build, with the exception of wearing relatively little armour, and I went constitution 14 and perception 16 for... reasons? Torment's Reach spam is a thing of beauty with monk fists.
