  1. And to who made HK-50's: A HK-50 in the Droid Factory: "The first of our creators did not create us from scratch, obsolete one, assassin droids were always in demand, and the templates already existed. Revan commissioned us to be build to be spread through the Republic fleet as Communications Units to disable any ships that did not follow him to war. But we were de-activated for a time"
  2. Enough funny quotes in the factory. Some examples: HK-47: Conclussion, you have just shown me your soft meatbaglike underbellies and said "HK-47, please shoot me repeatetly there untill I die HK-50: I was wondering when the interrogation begins, if you want to skip directly to the torture, I am eager to comply. HK-50: But I am a willing victim. With many secrets that you musty extract from me. Painfully. HK-50 to another HK-50: It makes no sense, he is already fully armed. Mocking statement: Fully Armed? One can never be armed enough. Even the HK-47 unit is not so obsolute as to fail to recognize that HK-47: As a meatbag would say: "I have a bad feeling about this" HK-50: I will tell you anything, just do not terminate me. Lowly voice: No, please. Stop shooting. My photoreceptors, my motivators. Mjaaargh. HK-50: Lecturing reminder; Organics will typically try to bargain for their lives. Either by 1) Offering useless false information or 2) promishing credits or power. Shamefull really. But that is why they sweat, suffer and die, and we do not. And more...
  3. The only thing that is certain that that will be before Duke Nukem Forever... Done when it's done...
  4. Yuthara gives you the key...if you promise to poison Uthar for her...
  5. Still don't listen to Meta, eh? *Sigh* What does That have to do with anything? Removing something proven usefulll is very different from adding potential problems *Thread pruned* He is making games. Unless you wan't PNJ and NWN2 to be as rushed as Kotor2 you might let him do his job... A bit longterm? I can't see my spend time decrease if I have to give/adjust every post's flag... Or do you just suggest banning and/or moderated status for violators (may become very quite then though...too quite) Did I miss anything? And what is so wrong with the current system that we need a complete overhaul? That's what Mods are for. Delete the BS and leave the on-topicness (slightly different in WoT)... No need for a flagging system if you have REPORT How long have you been here... must be short indeed Or not... Prune Scores? What's that? And I don't need it; I already beated the others Oh, and Tarna's Highscore is pretty low... (which seems logical seeing the amount of mod days and the amount of mods placed on WoT) Oh, and last, post counts (currently) do not decrease with deleted posts... Altough that can always be changed
  6. Yes. It is on Telos M4-78 is the Droid Planet where Vash was supposed to be...
  7. That would be the droid planet's story. That is different from the Droid Factory
  8. You have played SW-Galaxies
  9. I think it has more to do with the rushed and bugged game Kotor2 has become to be. And ofcourse the new Influence thing also made talking with/to Kreia a real pain. You either were not able to choose what you wanted to say to her, and get all/more convo options, or you speaked your guts and then get she wouldn't tell 1/2 of what she is able to tell... Another possibility with Kreia especially is that she is one of the only members that has *NEW* convo options based on actions in the past. Since all the other characters have a few lines, and all you see in the begin is what you can get (with enough influence) there is no such need to initiate a new convo after you exploited all old convo's, and thus you might miss alot of her sayings if you don't do Kotor1's "speak to all after a lvl-up"
  10. *Prunage complete* And for name changes; Fionavar can't do much, you *have* to ask The Guildmaster. Anyway, on-topic: HK-47 ofcourse (the fun) Mira (no explenation needed)
  11. This thread will be under lockdown untill Kotorkyle changes his avy back
  12. And they wanted to make that up by financing Daikatana for Ion Storm...? Seems, well, odd Yup. Producers and their low-quality QA's. Anyway, how sold Vampire? And how can it be that even if it sold so low everybody knows how it plays, looks, the story and how good it is (same with PS:T actually)...
  13. Slanderous information could hurt them...but it might also benefit. Post information a company put an illegal sex game in a game and has to remove it by law and $ (of sold games) and free marketing... Theft is financially hurting a company. No way to deny that. No, it DOES matter. According to you and other people here "stealing" is perfectly fine, if the creator didn't create his loss himself... but another created the copy of the creation that causes the loss (and now I totally lost myself too...) Stealing has, and is for as I know, taking stuff, be it physical or digital that you should not have for free for free... "erroneously", eh? Well, I have to bring such examples; since there is barely anything to compare it with. It might be with Music and such, but since that is about the same as the currently discussed games (is it stealing or not... should we ban it or not) I have to find some other examples, eh? And if a person doesn't wan't to pay for something or can't... WHY SHOULD HE PLAY IT? I mean, if you don't wan't to Play it (and thus pay), why do you DL it, and complete it etc.? Seems like a double morale to me... So, that only matters to SHOPKEEPERS. They have the final "no longer to sell". Do the Developer or Producer have that...No, they don't even have it somewhere to be robbed. So, do they have the same damage from DL'ing as from Theft... YES. Another unsolled item... And when on Earth did I say you said gamers are free to pirate? It seems like a general statement that that is the way... not a personal response on your post... Maybe that would be more because of privacy issues and security than of mentality. Put 100 Ferrari's on some parking spot, without any security and the keys inside and you will surely loose all of them in a short while... Sure, it is a loss. But one theft of such an object is alot less worse than 10 of these objects being carbon-copied and given away free. Sure, you could sell that 1, but you could sell 10 more (others) to the people who would pay if it wasn't free (and took a carbon copy)... How can a company possibly count all "DL'ed copies"? There are alot more DL-pages out there than any one person can find in his whole life...and more get added every minute...second... And the largest part does not buy a real copy. Also, there would be a size-able chuck that WOULD buy that game if it wasn't free (they are not all "no cash, no interest (Than why do you wan't to DL it " ) or Try before I buy it")... I now alot of people that DL games not because they wouldn't buy games (Trust me; they would if they had to)...but just because Free=Good. There are plenty of people who are such a fan of a game and completed it 10x... without ever paying for it once, is that *trying*? Also; many are anticipation games and when it comes to it click a button to get it. They just don't care about any labour done for creating it... And yes; they do damn well know that if they buy it it will support the Devs and such, but FREE is too hard to resist. And, hey, there are always other people who buy it too to help the Dev, no? RESULT: Exit Troika, Exit Looking Glass, Exit Black Isle (and the list goes on) EDIT: And now I think of it, an appendix for the "Stealing is taking away a copy that could otherwise be sold, while pirating isn't": This could actually generate MORE money for the Developer and Producer (unlike DL'ing, Burning copies). The store has one less copy; and has to buy a new one at the Producer. Means extra $, and extra $ for the Devs. Only the shop has losses. With Pirating all 3 have losses... (Now, explain to my why that is better?)
  14. It doens't matter that it isn't physical. It financially hurts the creator, also known as "Theft". If you hurt somebody by stealing his cash, or just borrow his cash and never return is no different. Therefore I wouldn't count it in a different catagory than shoplifters or car-thieves etc. Same as with games. You steal the bits and bytes, non-physical information, where alot of hard effort is put in creating, even if the result is digital, and thus cannot be touched and therefore "stolen" (by your definition of theft)... Yep. If you steal it from the government it is treason and you get sentances of many many years (if not life). But for the commercial companies it is totally free? Rationalize a crime. How pretty. If a criminal steals from a supper and he tells us that it was "because he wanted the luxure food items but couldn't pay them" the government would lock him up... but if a gamer says (and acts) the same he is free to do so? Would the shoplifter had any intention to buy the items at any rate? No, no, no... No, I just used that for the "No cash, Take it!" comment. For the actual "digital information theft comparison" I used that CIA example...
  15. I think that after the agreement that GO-TO is worst this thread took a spam-turn...
  16. Yes. But how much CAN they pay for it. Do note Asian is still not as wealthy as the US or Europe. Same with Eastern Europe and Russia, they just don't have the financials to pay for it a legit way, and the only way it would sell would be large reductions in price...which would mean less profit. Note though, that should not make "I am poor, but must have it" a fist-rule. I am still against copying there; only noting why DL'ing is more of a fiancial problem than these countries... Exelent counter. Your example is flawed. No reasons given why. I think alot of people misinterpretate my meaning here (also seeing your respons). I was talking about the mentality of "Can't pay for it, so I am bound to take it", not comparing PC-games to Ferrari's Because pretty engines (+$) who take alot of time to make (+$) usually sell more, since there are a lot of dumb Human-beings on this planet. So, the companies make those expansive thingies for them... So, to have a *GOOD* indication of a game you have to complete the complete Retail version? Damn genious statement, let all companies present demo's featuring the whole game; that will get our interest... No, cutting off the offenders hand should be enough There have been quite alot of investigations done in how crime can be reduced, and scaring the criminals off with heavy punishments and a large police-squad that actively hunts criminals was far more effective than trying to understand why crime is being done, and than pull the these causes away... -Fixed quotage tags :">
  17. It was more based on the "Can't pay but must play" that some have... But, you say if they DL a copy they can still sell that copy makes it any different I have to object. Alright, it might not be the same copy, but you still take away cash from the developers. You steal it without any "physical appearance", but it is still stealing. If I break into the CIA Computers and spread everything I find over there they still have it, but it would damn well be stealing, and hurting that company (not to say national security) even if they still have the info, and can still spread it to other intelligence agencies. Now you might wonder why I compare "stealing games" to "cracking governmental systems", but it is basically the same. At both you steal and spread software you shouldn't posses, and while the "gaming DL'ing" is *accepted*, hacking into a governmental probably gets you haunted... And to further go onto that if you Hack into a governmental agency and spread it would that also be "copyright infringment" or outright Theft? And to the second: If you burn a copy, yes I can sell the other one, but the creator already lost the cash for that copied one. To compare it again to Ferrari's it would be like manufacturing another car at the factory and just hand that one out on the street, free for everyone... (now copying cars might take longer, and is more expensive... but you should get the point)
  18. First; to the post 2 posts above mine: I was aiming on our Western Society. We don't have Crime Organisations running Game Distribution, or some Gang Lord who beats you up if you beat him fair in a MMORPG (and that is a common sight in South-Korea it seems) What we do have is a load of people with experience with PC and the Internet, and thus can easily take whatever we want from the net. Now, I ask you, what hurts more; a DL in a country where people have the money to spend on your game, or a Illegal Sold copy in a Asian country were selling prices are already a lot lower because they have less money?
  19. That is legal as long as you do not distribute it... If you can't make a copy for own use the creator of that disk is in violation with the law, not that they seem to care...
  20. Yeah, hot damn. Because that's usually the way these things go. For every million or so sold copy of, say, Diablo, there's A BILLION of people just clicking said god-forsaken wishy-washy pinko commie link, depriving Blizzard of their hard-earned bucks. Lol, did you write what I think you did? I wasn't talking about per copy 1000 illegal copies get downloaded. I was talking about why DL'ing was more of a problem than "burn and sellers", that spread illegal software ALOT slower... Read before posting... Don't just start ripping things FAR out of their context
  21. Well "Profit makers" do need people who want to buy it and need costumers. That is alot less worse than people who can get it for free, by just clicking a link. Just think, in the time the "profit maker" sells one copy, 1000's of copies could be DL'ed from the web. Now, the spreaders for the DL may not get cash out of it, but guess what gives more loss to the music company if it get's pirated, 1 CD (of the "profit maker", or 1000 (from DL)? Also note alot of "profit makers" make profit because they DL'ed it, and than offer it for cash to less technical people...
  22. A carrot like a big box that includes a tshirt, 24page colour booklet with concept art, a DVD with making-of video, a bag of licorice shaped likes Feargus's head etc. Costs also alot of money to be made...especially if you have to stuff it in every version...
  23. *Thread Pruned* Unfortunately, there isn't alot left after that it seems... True Sith: I hope they don't exist and it was just a "illussion/plan" from Revan...
