More Meaningful Attributes vs. More Viable Variation?
Multiple ways to solving problems does make a replay more fun, but so do different stat builds.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
Many of them are altered versions of the same portrait or portraits used in game.

Suggestion: Double the mechanical bonuses from attributes
Do this Obsidian!

Poll: Should Attributes Matter?
So far this poll seems pretty one sided...

Poll: Should Attributes Matter?
The other poll had slightly different implications.

Poll: Should Attributes Matter?
They should double the effect of attributes and reduce how many we get by 25%. Also, the aoe of abilities should reduced by 25% as well so max aoe isn't uber gigantic.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
One portrait per sub-race/gender?... I guess that's doable. Though a terrible waste.

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
Hm... Oh yeah. I kinda forgot. Guess you're right.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
That is a lot of portraits to waste for portraits of races we already have access to 1000's of. Better make female human portrait number 2382 rather than female Aumaua number 3 right? If Obsidian has any sense at all they will focus on the new races.
-
No portrait for Ocean Folk?
Yes you can. That is why I have suggested that Obsidian focus one the new races since their portraits can't be found on the internet.

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
Well; at least he could choose between 14 WIS or 18 WIS... A little different...

Suggestion: Double the mechanical bonuses from attributes
If they do so they should reduce our attribute points as well though. Double the effect of attributes will make us super powerful if they don't. If they double attributes' effects; than they should reduce our attribute points by 25%.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
First off; that's impossible. There are too many combinations of race/sub-race/gender to do. They would need waaay more protraits than they are going to add. Secondly, the art style is already extremely inconsistent; have you seen the female Aumaua? Compare that to the male Dwarf. The portraits from the IE games and fan portraits in those style are more than close enough since poe has absolutely no consistency at all.

Experience point system in the beta and onwards
Obsidian is certainly taking a risk with this approach to xp. The old IE xp system was definitely the safest idea. Some of the deviations from the IE games I understand, but this one really does seem bizarre. The heart of this game's appeal is meant to be nostalgia, or at least I thought. Kind of a return to 90's crpg gaming. Being called outdated would kinda be a compliment in this context. Especially considering how much better the IE games are than any rpgs since.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
Had the same issue. Went with a godlike Orlan instead. Not really something Obsidian should worry about though. Remember; you can import portraits from the internet. Plenty of black character portraits you could use. The new races in poe however; there aren't many of those floating around the internet. So as I have said before: Obsidian, focus on the new races. We don't really need more human, elf, or dwarf pictures. The internet has already provided those. We need Godlike, Orlans, and Aumaua!

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
I think of attributes in poe as half of your attributes in the IE games; then I consider the talents the other half. Once you get some talents to choose from you can pick a talent that supports the muscle wizard build for example. Between the attributes AND the talents different builds could play pretty differently. That said I wish the attributes mattered a bit more.

If you were creating all 6 party members what would your ideal party look like?
We shall fear no caster. If some magical dolt should cast an aoe spell our way Tina will alone will be the target. She scouts ahead you see, and after being hit she shall run away. The rangers whom all have guns (They are supposed to be good against mages) shall rush the spell-slinging buffoon and shoot him up good. You'll see. Our might shall be brought to BEAR...

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
You are definitely right that +4 in D&D is a big deal. Don't how anyone would think otherwise. That said, I think you are making a mistake even comparing the attribute system of poe to D&D. The attribute system in D&D is supposed to really define your character; in poe it's supposed to be a detail. The equivalent of a talent really.

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
switch 10 with 8 and I could agree with that.

1: Ranger with a bear named, "Tina" 2: Ranger with a bear named, "Nina" 3: Ranger with a bear named, "Lina" 4: Ranger with a bear named, "Jina" 5: Ranger with a bear named, "Rina" 6: Ranger with a bear named, "Sina" BEST TEAM EVER!

How to solve the AoE problem while making the INT stat more compelling (and INT characters smarter).
That's a cool idea.

Experience point system in the beta and onwards
I want some form of exploration xp, but I think I'm done dwelling on this issue. Obsidian fix it please, but I'm ALMOST done asking.
