More like BG2 please
LOL well no. I'd want there to be a functional difference. Ok, just going off the top of my head. I believe Rogues get a 17 health per level after level 1. If we were to impose Con penalties on a rogue, then a rogue with 3 con would get a percentage of that deducted every time they level up. Same thing with Might. if the base damage on a Pike is 27-42, then someone with 3 might would do less than that with his Pike. The functional difference is that the builds can be a bit more extreme. Stupid wizards are actually stupid; for example.

I miss that big solid HUD from BG2. As far as I know; there's no way to get that in the beta. I think we might get it later. Also, the event tracker(Or whatever it's called) really should be in the middle instead of the far right. The IE games did that and it made feedback much easier. I know this thread is called, "More like BG2 please", but I treat it as, "More like IE please."

Experience point system in the beta and onwards
That could be I guess, but I am very suspicious. The timing of this "mistake" sure was beneficial to Obsidian. Then again; maybe I'm grasping at straws.

"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
how about chess? I love chess. Have to wonder though, how is chess relevant?

Poll: Should Attributes Matter?
I hope Obsidian listens to this poll.

Toggling XP Systems - For a Peaceful Co-Existence!
I would just like to say that this is the most perfectly balanced solution I've seen so far, and it's incredibly easy to implement as well. If someone just wants to go around killing critters, they can do that. But if they progress in the story, they'll find that quests don't give them any XP anymore. But that's alright because they already got the XP. It also means that we wouldn't actually need to separate XP systems. This system does not incentivize you to kill monsters to gain XP, except if you need that level up you've been waiting for a little earlier. I don't know if it's a system that will be agreeable to the majority of players, so maybe a mod would be the best solution for something like that. But damn, I like the simplicity of it. If the xp given were low enough it wouldn't make up for the added challenge. Perhaps 5 was too high; lets try 4. A player needs a lot of xp to level. 4 xp per level of the enemy will not make hard easier than normal. Keep in mind as well that xp is divided by your team.

Experience point system in the beta and onwards
I actually asked it on the Comment section as well and was told a compromise would be reached. The Reddit discussion was the confirmation that there would be no kill XP. It was announced the same time as regenerating stamina and caused quite a reaction from the crowd. * Edit: The rest of that post was Cantousent's opinion, not Feargus. Like I have said before; there has been deception at play here. 1st) People give money a game that plays like an IE game because Obsidian promised to make one. 2nd) Obsidian mentions the game giving quest-xp; implying xp is quest exclusive. 3rd) People ask if xp is quest exclusive. 4th) They are told they will get xp for kills and quests. 5th) Once Obsidian has already gotten a ton of money from IE fans- Now there's no kill-xp. Like I said; deception. If not ought right lies; Obsidian was at the very least: Deliberately misleading.

Oh what a great argument. Lets talk about exploits only. Because that's all BG2 was about, after all. In PoE, if you equip all of your characters with rifles, you can break the demo, as there isn't a single encounter that can't be steamrolled effortlessly by doing so. Therefore, PoE sucks. </mayama logic>. For anyone who think how terrible it was that the IE games were exploitable; I have some bad news for you: Poe will be exploitable too! I can with nearly 100% certainty assure you there will be exploit galore in poe. Every rpg with any depth I have ever seen or played has exploits. All of them. Even paper mario 2 has them.

Actually, they made a system where every stat can be dumped with no penalty at all. No, worse than that. They made a system where you can dump every stat to 3 and still receive bonuses. Dumping your Barbarian's Might to 3 will cause him to receive a +10% boost to damage and healing. Same goes with the functions of every stat. It's the casual gamer's dream system. Makes class building idiot proof. Yeah, as we've already discussed on other threads; it would be much better if attributes didn't start off as a bonus, but instead started as penalties while doubling what an individual stat point gives you.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
I'm all for ditching dwarves and elves (even better, give everyone either long beards or ear-obscuring hair, so every portrait can function for multiple races), but cutting corners on portraits depicting people of color sends a very wrong message. Obsidian already should of had some dark skinned people by now; that was a mistake. Too bad Obsidian didn't have the good sense to realize not every human portrait had to be white. I'm glad you also want to ditch the elves and dwarves; now just ditch the humans and you're done. Obsidian should not be in the business of worrying about messages they're sending. They should be doing what's best for the game. At least we agree on elves and dwarves...

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
That leaves the Orlans and Aumauans with very few options just so players won't have to go on the internet and get the extra portraits. In the IE games importing your own portraits was very easy; I don't see why the new races should get such a raw deal.

Poll: Should Attributes Matter?
That would be interesting. I think KOTOR did that at character creation. I do still think just doubling the curve is better though. Don't want the system encouraging "jack of all trades" build over others.

Druids, too can enjoy the fruits of civilization like shiny plate armor and cool swords, y'know Doesn't matter. In all realms and worlds of all reality; you alone get a druid vibe from her. Only you.

Obsidian, this poem is for you: I am not happy... No exploration xp... Just fix it okay?
-
No portrait for Ocean Folk?
Yes. You are the only one who gets that vibe; in the entire world. She has a shiny sword, druids can make their swords shiny, therefore she's a druid. QED You're wrong. Even if she was a druid; no one anywhere gets a druid vibe from her in the entire galaxy. You are the one and only exception.

Everything feels way too fast
Once the feedback system is improved it'll be much easier keep track of what's going on. This will alleviate the feeling of confusion it has greatly.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
Good point. I wonder why they made so many of the portraits light-skinned? Obsidian isn't the first to do this, but it is weird how often everyone (except for 1 person) is white in everything.

No portrait for Ocean Folk?
I have the ultimate portrait pack which has quite a few of them; they are outnumbered 8-to-1, but there are still a decent amount of them. I don't quite know how to post pictures from my own computer though. The Pallegina pic was from google image. I suspect looking for black character portraits that way would be much less effective than using the ultimate portrait pack. JEEZ! Just tried to find some on google; it's friggin' impossible! Thank goodness for that portrait pack. Probably best if you go to an IE resource site for more black portraits then the portrait pack has.

I think these issues may get resolved in the future. I definitely agree on xp though.
