"No Bad Builds" a failure in practice?
Obsidian is not opposed to releasing buggy games. Poe will not likely be delayed, and even if it is; it will only be delayed a month or so. Don't expect any radical changes from where we are now. Only tweaks.

Indeed. If you rolled up a few monks, then you're in for trouble and a much tougher game later on, for instance. I think this is one point where the ambitions for PoE is trying to surpass the PnP-based D&D system that the IE games were trying to base themselves on. This can't be repeated enough, it seems. It can still be a spiritual successor of the IE games. My suggestion is this: Increase the six attributes to eight, perhaps even ten, if needs be, and make all attributes have at least two unique aspects that are coveted, whether it be healing, critting, elemental defences or what not. It's time for more daring solutions. We are geeks, we can handle complexity and confusion - no, but seriously, stop this crazy cramming of a trillion beneficial effects into merely a few attributes. If this is done well, we will see even more diverse character builds, which is something I'd love to see, at least. It's WAAY to late for that unless poe gets delayed.

It definitely would have been better to utilize the IE attribute system with a few minor tweaks for the sake of variety, but at this stage there's really no point in bringing it up. It won't be changed; so let's focus on the tweaks this new attribute system needs.

People rolled all day for that in every IE game that allowed it too! HA! No but seriously they did. So it is a spiritual successor! I rolled until got quite a few points. This is true.

All NPCs but BB Rogue have better stats than main character can have?
Not really. My pc is usually way better than the companions in BG1/BG2. Since BG let you roll for your stats the pc could be pretty over-powered.

I've used the adventurer building feature and you've already gotten your wish. You build them from scratch; just like IWD/IWD2.

It might mae people think those classes are better than they really are. I and a few other have made the case that fighters are under-powered after using them. Some have responded that BB fighter is good so that means we made a mistake in building ours. If BB fighter has super stats then he isn't a good representative of how good the fighter class really is.

How difficult they are shouldn't be judged simply by, "can I beat them without taking a lot of damage." You also need to consider how much effort is needed to beat them without taking much damage. My party take only minor if any damage to beat all the trash mobs in the beta and I didn't need to use special abilities or spell in most of the fights (This was after I equipped them with that level equipment that your party probably should actually have in that time of the game). I actually didn't need rest even one time in my last run. So I would still say that making them easier isn't thing that I would recommend. On normal? You must have been taking advantage of the weapon swapping mechanic or something.

Combat XP Poll - Let's See What We Think Now
I know you aren't the first to use this term but I just have to mention this has to be my favorite new bs term. I am glad business doesn't have a monopoly on this junk. As if I wasn't incentivized in other RPGs to do every available quest. No I don't want massive XP and kewl loot game. Silence all that stupid dialogue and attempts to tell me a story. I grind for my power! Ah yeah feel all that freedom from the tyranny of quests! The worst thing to ever be introduced to an RPG. No more bowing and scraping to stupid NPCs. Now I murder them for their XP like a truly free psychopath. As a matter of fact I almost never do even half the quests in BG. The funnest thing to do in that game is to explore, and quests usually get in the way of that.

No experience from combat
The rpg genre was dead? BS. Look online; there were plenty of rpgs that came out in 1996. I dont need to look it up because I lived at that time and was old enough to actually buy stuff myself. Every single big RPG series was dead, no eye of beholder, no ultima, no might and magic no ishar no lands of lore etc. they all died out and got replaced with action adventures and first person shooters. "30 November marked a special anniversay in PC gaming: the 15th anniversary of the release of Baldur's Gate. Released in late 1998, just a few weeks after the all-crushingHalf-Life, Baldur's Gate had every bit as major an impact on gaming. It was the first RPG released by BioWare, still one of the biggest names in the business, and arguably saved the Western RPG genre from descending into obscurity." This is what press writes about baldurs gate. Nonsense as well. 1998 may have been a bad year for pc rpgs, but console rpgs were doing just fine.

You are too funny. You have no idea what correlation is do you? Actually I do. However there is no correlation here. Tell me, if I said there would be chairs in poe would that be something to get excited about. For most people; I doubt it. That wouldn't mean chairs are a failure. I agree! There is no correlation between the popularity of BG and killxp. So what was your original argument supposed to be again? That the kill xp wasn't a failure. It did what it was supposed to do. The point of the mechanic was to help the player level up; it did that, and did so without causing the game to fail.

Ok, for the sake of whomever needs to learn what "spiritual successor" I'll say what it means: Spiritual successor, also known as spiritual sequel, is a successor to something which does not build upon the story/lore established in the previous work, but feature many or most of the same elements.

You may think that other systems could be better, and you may be right - it's certainly a valid opinion anyway. But that statement is completely, objectively, laughably, indefensibly ridiculous. Great. I cannot wait for you to effortlessly (because it is indefensible) prove me completely and laughably wrong. Objectively. Sure, I can do it. BG2 was incredibly successful and was very well-received.

If they do that then all will be well. I never heard them say that so I didn't know. I've been complaining over nothing it seems. I feel like quite a fool.

Actually, Namutree's complaint of trash mobs being a significant challenge and not orders of magnitude easier than boss fights, would fit IWD2 as well. On my first playthrough of IWD2, the little groups of nameless Malarites on the Shaengarne Dam gave me big trouble and forced me to reload several times (just to name one example), whereas some of the named "bosses" in the game could be disabled in round 1 with Feeblemind or similar. It's true that this is different from the BG/BG2 outdoor area exploration experience, but those do not define the Infinity Engine "spirit" alone. The trash mobs I am complaining about are the one's you find while exploring. The spiders are fine. The beetles/lions are the guys makin' me mad. The spiders are in a cave and that's kinda a dungeon; thus it falls into the IWD/IWD2 territory. Heck, even in BG the enemies found in caves were though. Keep in mind IWD/IWD2 didn't really have exploration as they were too linear.
