I guess I'm weird, but I guess ultimately I don't care if the gameplay of DA2 changes or not. All I care about is whether I think I'll have fun playing the game (pre-purchase) and whether I had fun playing the game (post-purchase). If things bout the game change and I still enjoy it...is there a problem? If it changes and I don't enjoy it, it won't be the first game I played that sucked. If it changes to something I don't think I'll enjoy I won't try it. So where's the problem? Did I accidentally sign a contract when I played DA:O that I was bound to buy the next three sequels and play them to completion under penalty of death or something?

I wonder if Marcus will be the source of any "friendly fire" incidents involving a minigun in FONV.

Yup options are cool. Unfortunately I think - for the most part - either one thing or another is probably a more likely case than options to tailor preferences. Which is okay, I don't need to play every game released. Luckily FO:NV isn't that way.

Obsidian lowering their standards??!!!!

That made me laugh out loud. -
As big fan of Caine's I will defend him against this lazy slur. Apropos his wife the following anecdote is true. Caine was sharing digs with fellow actor Terence Stamp in the mid-1960's. Caine saw a coffee advert set in Rio starring a beautiful girl. "Terry," said Caine, "that girl is beautiful, I have to go out with her." "How?" replied Stamp. "We'll fly to Rio tomorrow and find her!" said Caine, with the arrogance and optimism of a newly successful and wealthy actor. The two men made their way to the famous Mayfair nightclub Tramp for an evening of groovy carousing, the plan being that they would head off to the airport the following morning. The owner of Tramp, Johnny Gold, had a drink with the two actors who explained that they were about to fly off to Brazil to track down the beautiflu girl in the new Maxwell coffee ad. Gold told them that they were wasting their time, as the model (who would visit the club now and then) lived in London! Caine cadged her telephone number and bagged himself a date. Her name was Shakira. They married in 1973 and have been together ever since. So there is no alimony and no abandoned kids. To be fair, when Caine married Shakira he was already a divorcee. He was married to another actress, the late Patricia Haines (who appeared on a number of television shows like THE AVENGERS or ADAM ADAMANT LIVES! in guest roles) from 1955-62 and had one daughter, Dominique. Far short of the 100 kids with 100 wives thing though. However, as I understand it, his two films a year bit (regardless of the quality of the films) in the beginning was to counter the high tax on "top earners" that finally saw him leave the UK for awhile in the 70s not alimony or child support. He'd do a film he wanted and then another film for the money to cover the taxes from the first film.

Even though I don't personally consider the soft drinks an important aspect of gameplay, I'm glad this amount of thought has gone into the details of hardcore mode. If HC mode is a big hit, it would be dang amusing if subsequent crpgs saw the return of food/drink/sleep as a game mechanic. Maybe next would be the return of boots and bedrolls. Everything old is new again. Only as long as its an option. I for one will be glad to never see food/sleep/drink mechanics return to video games and will happily never use the "Hardcore" option in FONV

I guess they could also go for the "bang interviewers head on the desk" but I don't think Mr. Prospective Employee will end up on a boat after that... -
Yeah just saw it too.. It seems the screen writer couldm't decide on a setting and just choose - ..

Is Feargus Urquheart really Lord Ao in disguise?

I hated the Tarrasque joke. Being a mod and getting asked about the Tarrasque via PM was lame. -

I'd figure an Alpha Protocol stance system would be cool. "So, Mr. Prospective Employee, what makes you think you'd work well with Obsidian Entertainment". "X - Suave" "Ah, I see, looking over your portfolio, I'm a bit worried that you may not meet our qualifiactions." "Y - Agressive" -
"Michael Caine stated in an interview that during filming he thought the little yellow spots left by the bees on his clothing was honey so he began to eat it, unaware he was eating bee poop." Yeah bees regugitate nectar for honey. Caine also said its one of the three worst films he's been in (and Caine's been in some awful films). Its also the last film made by Fred MacMurray - he retired from acting after it. Irwin Allen was so disappointed in the film, he refused to talk about it after it bombed.

Watched PRINCE OF DARKNESS. Hadn't watched in awhile, and I'd forgotten a lot of the beginning (prior to them getting into the church). I thought the idea of good and evil through the lens of theoretical physics was interesting. Dennis Dun's character has some really weird actions/reactions and the film and the female lead is sadly underdeveloped (but the same could be said for most of the characters, who don't really know one another prior to the film and the running time hasn't the ability to develop them). Later I watched THE SWARM, 1970s Killer Bee movie, infamous for being one of the top critical and box-office failures of its time. Its interesting because the first 2/3rds of the film aren't awful (mind you, they're not good either, but entertaining in a 70s disaster flick way) but there are some leaps in logic that leave the viewer scratching their head. Unfortunately this is a signpost of things to come, as the last 1/3rd of the film takes all leave of its senses and presents quite possibly one of the goofiest and far fetched conflagration of events ever put to celluloid. At 2 hrs and 30 min its about 40 minutes too long (possibly more; the original theatrical version was just under two hours but isn't available anymore).

Prince Charles is in line with his son Prince William after him AFAIK. Some observations from my (limited) experience with the UK (from visiting) - Scottish people speak English in a way that you will recognize as English but not actually understand. It sounds nothing like the pretend Scottish that shows up in movies and television from the UK and you will need someone to translate English for you. Roundabouts actually make a lot more sense for lower traffic roads than stop signs. People drive on the motorway really fast. The thickness of fog is not exaggerated. Be prepared to feel disembodied. Until you are known at the local pub, be aware that walking in by yourself will be accompanied by death stares. Place names in Wales are actually longer than some of the places in Wales.

My experience with ME and ME2 was that I enjoyed playing FemShep more than ManShep. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Surely, you'll need a bowler? I have a friend who moved to the UK (the catch is his wife is from England) and I've known a few people who've been stationed there over the years. They all seem to like or liked it while they were there.

Looks good to me so far. Can't wait to see how it looks in motion.

Doesn't Street Fighter Ken dye his hair (hence the thick black eyebrows)? And isn't he part Japanese? -

Well CrossGen did go out of business. All of their assets/IPs were bought by Disney. Disney recently bought Marvel. Marvel just teased at Comic-Con International they were reviving CrossGen's titles. -
Wouldnt' really surprise me. The franchise has been heading in the ludicrous direction, content-wise, for a while. FO4: Moonbase Alpha. Can't wait. Don't you mean ?
-
Didn't play the first one; see no reason to change that with the second.

Yeah they've said repeatedly the PC combat isn't changing - its hard to believe how much argument is coming about the "dumbing" down of PC games over this though...

I beat TOB once. I also beat BG1 once (and had to cheat to do that... ) Got a bit further in Lego Harry Potter over the weekend.
-
Well, not anymore.

So tell me Vol, where exactly were you when I was playing Dragon Age? Because in those three cases the first time I played I almost lost my party (and did totally in the fourth case) and I don't remember you being there. But thanks for the compliment on my gaming skills (even if you overestimate them)!

Yeah, I'd forgotten about that, that did make groin shots useful. Not sure how that could translate into a non-turn based game.
