Cinema and Movie Thread: I like to remember things my own way.

I thought the first one was average at best, and haven't really had much interest in seeing the second. If I did see it, do you think I'd like it better/worse/same than the first? -
Apparently the last of the founding sisters in 1969, after June (died 2006) and Bonnie (died 2020). Younger sisters Bonnie and June started as a duo, then older sister Anita joined officially becoming The Pointer Sisters. They became a quartet when oldest sister Ruth joined in 1972. In 1977, Bonnie struck out to be a solo act, and June temporarily took a break. June was back when they had their big 80s hits (which is where I was introduced to them). Remaining sister Ruth still tours as the Pointer Sister with one of her daughters, Issa, and one of her granddaughters, Sadako.

I'm not smrt either. But I've read a good bit (not nearly enough) about symbolism in Arthurian stories, so I guess I just connected more to it. It was probably my favorite film of 2021. Bought A24's limited edition release of Green Knight to get the director's short film "Oak Thorn & The Old Rose Of Love", an adaption of another Arthurian tale and a good companion for TGK, IMO. The adaption -

Man, did we watch the same film? It was pretty brimming with meaning and symbolism, IMO - just like versions of the story itself. For my part I watched THE ASSASSINATION BUREAU, LTD. Advertised as a comedy, while it is amusing because it keeps things light, its more of a straight adventure, really. I liked it, but its easy to tell from the trailer that they couldn't figure out how to market it. -
Angelo Badalamenti Loved the music in Twin Peaks.

I watched Wolf of Snow Hollow for Halloween, so won't watch it again for Christmas. Maybe in a couple of years... -

Speed Racer "The Most Dangerous Race Pt. 2" Speed catches up with the other racers while his flashback catches us up with the story so far. We are also introduced to the idea that Speed realizes something is wrong with his breaks. Sparky also realizes this and he and Spritle and Chim Chim drive to help. Trixie is with Pops (recovering in the hospital) and Mom Racer, when Pops reveals the problem with the breaks and Trixie take to the helicopter knowing Speed's breaks won't last in the mountains. Trixie has to rescue a broken down Sparky, Chim-Chim and Spritle while Speed's breaks give way and we're treated to the longest slide down a mountain helplessly pumping breaks from Speed ever committed to anime. Trixie arrives and Sparky lasso's the Mach 5 just in time to use the helicopter to keep it from going over a cliff. Speed and Sparky make up over their pointless argument in episode 1, Spritle tries to eat the box lunch Trixie brought for Speed leading to a lengthy argument between the pair. Speed and Sparky fix the breaks and Speed catches up with the group which has been delayed due to the weather destroying part of the track. The racers draw lots on the order for jumping the destroyed path and Speed gets last place. Of the five racers ahead of Speed, only Snake Oiler and Racer X make it across. Naturally Speed's run seems to fail for the cliffhanger and we end on the good luck charm Spritle gave Speed in the snow. Fun episode, lots of wacky animation bits and a nice cliffhanger. Spritle blames Sparky for their predicament Trixie hears Speed is in trouble! Trixie rushes to help! Trixie smugly to the rescue! Repairs will take awhile, so Trixie gets Speed all to herself... Trixie vs Spritle begins when Spritle tries to steal the box lunch Trixie brought Speed Trixie gets the upper-hand! Trixie resorts to violence! Spritle returns violence in kind! Body blow! The chase is on! Trixie tries to rope Speed into it! Speed puts Spritle and Trixie both in time-out.

I don't really get the hate for Crystal Skull. I think its easily 4th best out of the bunch, but the refrigerator bit was no more impossible an escape than the raft down the mountain in Temple of Doom which, in reality, would have left them all dead IIRC some physics break downs. The idea that the explosion is survivable by 'Indy luck" and the fact that the fridge (as they were back then) being lead lined protected him from the worst of the explosion and radiation is literally the kind of cliffhanger resolution that the old cliffhanger would have used.* *Actually, if I'm honest, a fair number of serials would have just resolved it by having the hero shrug it off. I'm looking at you Universal and Columbia serial makers from the 40s and 50s. I'm looking at you.
