  1. Step One: make an Orlan ranger. Step Two: choose the Lion as your companion animal .
  2. The only content stretch goal I'm really keen on seeing is an eighth companion, to match the number in the POE1 base game. (Especially since they've yet to show us a dwarf. Although maybe the mysterious Companion #6 is a dwarf. I certainly hope so!)
  3. I'm not sure how that would fit in with the Watcher's ability to hire prostitutes in POE1. (Although I guess you could headcanon that the Watcher was just trying it out and decided it wasn't for them?)
  4. His responses have indeed been both plentiful and great! And if Feargus is somewhere around here, I would also like to thank him for campaigning to get Edér back in the game. As someone who never lets him out of the party, I appreciate it .
  5. Oooo, I like that idea. In POE1, I always find myself using the per encounter abilities first because I don't want to waste my per day abilities, and then I end up resting before I've got through half my spells.
  6. Great work compiling this list! According to Tumblr, we are getting this one! As someone who just had to take off a cloak to put on a necklace, I appreciate it.
  7. Well, some of us have been here the whole time . It's not like BioWare fans and Obsidian fans are actually mutually exclusive groups, after all. But maybe I'd be able to convince a few people in the character threads on the BioWare Social Network to pony up some money if there were romances ...
  8. I would like romances in POE2 if - AND ONLY IF - the developers are enthusiastic about doing them and want to do them well. I love in-game romances, but half-arsed ones are not worth it.(Original Neverwinter Nights 2 campaign, I am looking at you.) That said, I think adding romances would go some way to combating one of the issues I had with POE1: the companion relationships lacked texture. Games that have romances in them have to model companions in more dimensions than those that don't. There's not just the question of whether the companion likes you or not, but the question of whether they like you like you, and that often seems to lead to deeper platonic relationships as well. I mean, obviously there are other ways of accomplishing that goal, but romances might be a way there for POE2 if they want to go that route.
  9. I made one months ago then left him stranded in Gilded Vale while I played other games, but for some strange reason I discovered and urgent desire to complete that playthrough.
  10. I've played this with several successful parties that have no fighter, no priest, or neither. Fighter in particular is easy to replace -- a monk, rogue, paladin, or barbarian will play that role just fine. A priest can be effectively replaced by two paladins, a paladin + druid, or items, especially scrolls. In fact I prefer to play without a priest, since that lets me pump up offense a notch which makes fights go faster. I know other people have made lots of different party combinations work, but I've tried various suggested builds and combos and I just don't like playing without those two classes on hand. I've never managed to get any of the other companions to tank for me as well as Edér does. Maybe things will be different in POE2, though!
  11. Information I Want: Now that the main campaign is funding and we're definitely getting multiclassing, how does it work? Is there going to be a backer update about it soon? Can my Druid have a Ranger pet now now now? Stuff I Want: - More reactivity to the PC's class/race/gender/culture/background. My first Watcher was a godlike, and people commented on it about twice in an eighty hour campaign. - Assuming we're going to have one, a better stronghold. While it looks cool and contains a neat dungeon, Caed Nua just feels lifeless compared to Watcher's Keep in Neverwinter Nights 2 or Skyhold in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Even the BG2 strongholds had more flavour, although you couldn't do as much with them. I want somewhere that feels like home. - Since they're adding subclasses - or they will be in another $70,000 - now would be a good time to make a full set of deities available for Priests. I'd have loved to play White March 2 with a follower of Ondra or Abydon. A couple more Paladin order would also be nice. And more Ranger pets! - Assuming the current developers are happy to write them, romances would be a nice stretch goal. - Finally, the difficulty curve of POE1 was really uneven. My problem wasn't that the Adra Dragon was too hard, it's that most encounters are too easy to properly prepare you for the difficult ones.
  12. My main problem with five party members is that if this is anything like POE1, I'm going to want to have a fighter and a priest in the party at all times. Since none of my Watchers are fighters and only one is a priest, that doesn't leave much room for companions of other classes. Oh, well. Just as well I love Edér. (And hiring priest NPCs, because two runs with Durance was enough for me.)
  13. I got an e-mail today with a $5 discount code for the current crowdfunding campaign because I backed the last one. Did other people not get these?
  14. This is my plan for my 'canon' Watcher. Always wanted her to have an animal companion, and she already uses a bow. If that combination isn't possible, I'll settle for a Druid with some chants.
  15. Yaaaaaaay!!! My Watcher will continue her adventures! Now the really important question: can we bring the miniature giant space pig with us into PoE 2?
  16. I love PoE and the Dragon Age games. (Yes, all three of them. Truly, I am a magical unicorn.) I think BioWare made the right decision for them when they moved in a more cinematic and action-oriented direction, but I couldn't be happier that there are other companies producing Old Skool cRPGs. We can, in fact, have more than one type of game.
  17. Yeah, I played a Godlike and had the same issue. Exactly one character mentioned it the whole game (in a context other than replacing 'elf' or 'dwarf' with 'Godlike'). You'd think Pallegina would have something to say about it, but no. Same with my class - no opportunity for my druid to talk shop with Hiravias. The game is fantastic at reacting to your attributes, skills and reputations in dialogue, but it pretty much ignores your race and class. That leads to some weird and illogical conversations all around. I got one druid dialogue option in Twin Elms ... and it wasn't with any of the many, many druids there. I mean, you can't even (ACT THREE SPOILERS BELOW CUT!) ...
  18. PoE druids are glorious. I finished the game for the first time today, and spent the last part laughing manically while throwing Rot Skulls at everything. Shapeshifting isn't something I'd rely on, but it can be handy in certain situations. I often used it to help clean up the last couple of enemies in a group when I didn't want to use more spells.
  19. My character had Honesty 3 and Wael still turned up, so it's not high Honesty that keeps him away. She also had Deceptive 1 and hid the scroll for him, though, so either of those could be a factor. Maybe it's just whether or not you hid the scroll and your reputations make no difference?
  20. Nature Godlike Druid! (With the dwarf body type.) Druids are amazing. I decided to play one as soon as the Backer Update about them came out, and my decision has been amply rewarded.
  21. Assuming the current build is basically like the launch build: does a Druid that puts as many points as possible into Might and Intellect and stands at the back raining down AOE sound viable? Or is there some other attribute I should be pumping instead?
  22. I'm playing a Godlike first - with dwarf parents. Tossing up between Death and Nature, probably decide that when I can test out the heads on a dwarf body in game.
  23. I always play a female character first when given the choice, so that's what I'll do with PoE. If it makes any difference to the dialogue, I'll probably get around to playing male eventually, but if not I'll just stick with female PCs.
  24. Definitely rolling a druid first - the most recent update decided me on that. Leaning toward godlike but I may yet switch to amaua or orlan.
