  1. Ah, Shenmue, now there's a game that deserves a re-release or even better.. a sequel. It can't be bought anywhere anymore.
  2. It definitely sounds interesting! What is this fascination with open worlds lately? I miss the days of tighter and narrower sprawly environments, like say the Spencer Mansion in Resident Evil, or even more recently, the Asylum in Arkham Asylum. It carries the good parts about backtracking, where familiarity with the environment felt nice and intuitive.. the place environment became home. Most open world settings as of late feel very unforgettable and unnecessarily padded.. to keep it on topic in regards to Levine, I'd say BioShock 1 had it right with Rapture. I hope this open world thing is just another phase the industry is going through before the next big thing arrives.
  3. Grim Fandango Remastered -- Feels sooo good to play it again. Should do Psychonauts then Sam & Max after.
  4. Excellent puzzle platformer from the Persona developers. Anyway, I'd say Catherine's part incidentally reflects the free-spirited bachelor-type, which is supposed to resonate with the player whose choices mirrors that.. You don't actually have to pick one over the other, you can also choose neither -- I suppose the literal image of Catherine's true self being a succubus is bit much and sends an awkward message, but ultimately I'd say it is just that.. an image. All in all I find it to be quite a neat little game that formally discusses the difficulties of relationships with some engaging puzzle gameplay
  5. Fire Emblem: Awakening Incredibly fun game -- I took the liberty of taking some time off Persona Q to play this game on my 3DS and I'm liking it a lot.
  6. Battlefront 1 was better. Darktrooper was never the same without the scattergun.I can safely say that I derive lots of enjoyment from Force choking Anakin Skywalker as Darth Vader while running as fast as a subway train.I can safely say "boo, heroes."You're no fun :|

  8. You guys need to get Battlefront 2 on Gog; That way we could some sort of massive Obsidian multiplayer-session. If there's any game that has a fun multiplayer then it's that one.
  9. Did it get so much? I don't remember this. Besides, the gameplay is actually very solid (no pun intended). It's just that it has so, so many hours of video stuff to watch. It is a very detailed game, but some things could have been cut... From the videos. Complaints from what I remember far outweighed the praise. The cinematics, worst boss battles in the series, stealth being reduced to crawling everywhere, the mechs being annoying ect.. I liked the gameplay, mechanically the series hadn't been better but I do think that the level design was vastly superior in MGS and Snake Eater. The boss battles, I found most of them to be fun once I figured out what the hell I was supposed to do but several were frustrating to begin with. I didn't mind the cinematics but do have a dislike for some of the more extreme Japanese anime directing that MGS4 is full of (Drebbin, the Beasts ect.). And while the story wasn't nerely as insane as I'd been lead to believe, it did feel like a bit of a weak finish somehow. I think it would have been better to ressurect Liquid proper for the antagonist rather than try to salvage that rediculous arm story from the second game. Instead we got Big Boss appearing out of nowhere for some crazy speach and an exit stage left immediately after. But anyway, though not the best in the series I had a fun couple of days playing it and it was nice to see the story arc wrapped up and all the characters from the series getting a role or a mention. Hopefully the Keifer Sutherland ones will keep improving on the formula. The slo-mo action nonsense and implementation of bat vision doesn't speak wonders for me.. it doesn't encourage stealth as I feel the gameplay should foremost do and they feel somewhat like preposterous spectacle lights that have no place in Metal Gear. Given how much I love Sons of Liberty, how I've analysed the game to death and played it over and over again, I can safely say that I actually didn't mind the sub-plot with Liquid's arm in that game all that much, given the overall post-modern feel to the narrative; I always saw it as another figment of the S3-plan, the reason why Ocelot spoke with Liquid's voice was to confuse the player as well as Raiden, given the game's own declaration as a post-modern story and Raiden representing the player's foothold in the world, but I always saw it as something that was done at the convenience of the player, to distinguish the Liquid Ocelot persona -- making the simulation feel more authentic too. But, I digress, Guns of the Patriots decision to handwave all of the eerieness of the second game and using Nanomachines as a convenient plot device to explain Vamp's immortality was incredibly jarring. The boss fights are essentially uninspired husks and cardboard cut-out of the Foxhound unit from the first game, which the game even goes out of its way to explain; Almost as if Kojima is deliberately trying to distracts us with comforting sounds and flashes of nostalgia, so that we may not notice all the leaking plot holes everywhere and the weak uninspired conclusion we are getting. Although, while the Cobra Unit wasn't all that well-characterized either, before Snake pretty much took them down in one fell swoop, they were at least memorable for their unique boss battles (as you mentioned) which I feel the B&B Unit sorely lacked. Ultimately, the game do have its good bits, like the fight with Liquid Ocelot at the end as music from the previous games play in the background to create the perfect scenery for one final showdown between two old rivals in body and spirit can go all out on each other... But yeah, I'm still somewhat interested to see where Phantom Pain will go in regards to characters like Zero from the other games and whether the young Snakes will show up, but ultimately. If the gameplay is still fun and 'Solid' enough to be considered a Metal Gearm, dohohoho.
  10. So for some reason the forum decided to make a post of me quoting myself, so I might as well use this it for something that actually adds to the thread. In regards to stealth, I still think Snake Eater and Thief 2 are among the best in terms of mechanics, and how you could utilize the environment for infiltration. It was neatly put together in both those titles, followed shortly by Hitman Blood Money's sprawlyness.
  11. Aside from the story being a bunch of bollocks and the weak way it solves its many lingering plot threads from previous games, it is meh -- The Afghanistan setting is so unnerving, given that's it literally the setting of your average war game ever, and when it comes to stealth games; It feel just as awkwardly implemented as it did in Splinter Cell Double Agent. The game plays more akin to an action, and you can pretty just buy any weapon you want from a weapon shop in the pause menu, like that makes any sense at all, which pretty much cheapens the little gameplay there was in the first place -- Take for instance one specific 'stealth mission' if you can call it that, more like stalking mission, where you have to stalk this bloke through some dark streets for 30 minutes, without doing anything else, which was about as engaging as counting floor plates.. the next part is an on-rail shooting section without spoiling too much. Guns of the Patriot is in short -- A huge letdown of a sequel and follow up to an excellent game like Snake Eater. It's also a weak ending but ultimately satisfying at least. Incidentally, Peace Walker is much more fun than Guns of the Patriots, even if the characters still don't hold up that of 1-3, it's still a really fun Metal Gear game with a fun co-op feature (which I never thought I'd say about a franchise that is mostly famous for its single-player).
  12. No Persona Q? U wuh -- I'd hesitate to think that VC qualifies for the list given it's a re-release of an older PS3 title on Steam and I'm also sure that XIII-2 was released at least 2 years ago... Hmm, otherwise I'd say that Shadowrun is definitely fun, along with, Q, Stick of Truth & Inquisition. Those were the only RPGs I enjoyed; Released from last year that is.
  13. Pre-ordered. Been waiting too long for this one. I finally get to play it again and this time finish it.
  14. Killing and violence do not showcase the strength in your beliefs, it showcases how little faith you have in those beliefs. Tragic, so incredibly tragic.
  15. I would have liked Far Cry 4 if it wasn't basically Far Cry 3 again but with different wallpaper -- Think I'll stick with the 3rd game and focus on some other titles. It didn't particularly thrill me.
  16. Happy New Year you crazy gentle-beings of the Obsidian Order.
  17. Persona Q -- Excellent game that almost holds up to the main games. Nice dungeon crawling, flawless music from Meguro as always and vice versa
  18. Great. Being forced to play as Geralt. #PWA #badprotagonist #geraltgate
  19. Rising is absolute whacky nonsense, where even the contemporary hyperrealism of Sons of Liberty & Snake Eater seem level-headed by comparison. Okay action game though. Bayonetta is better in every single way in terms of action. Had way more fun with that one.
