patch!! there's a patch!
Reveilled replied to AnakinSolo2002's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Eric, this would be very bad indeed but I fear this is all too close to the truth. Anyone tried to contact LA tech support? Anyone had a reply (other than re-directing them to another site/address)? The form is like a feckin' job application and no doubt these get immediately filtered out as spam when it reaches their server. Honestly, I'm more and more convinced this silent treatment is a ruse to stop customers simply throwing in the towel and taking the damn thing back for refund...Oh, I'll just hang on another week and see if a patch comes out, etc. I also phoned my game store today to inquire about the returns time limit. I've got 7 days apparently, but I did learn this game is already being returned there in large numbers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At least your place allows PC game returns. The place I bought it from has a no returns policy on PC games on account of the piracy problem. -
If you are a woman, you get Disciple instead of Handmaiden.

KOTOR2 Early Review ak Bashings, Smashings, & More
Reveilled replied to Volourn's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well then, do tell why I had previous to this been in the JJT on three seperate occasions with a breath mask on suffering no ill effects at all. All that says is that Atton's comment is part of the same plot hole. -
Didn't you get the cutscene where one proton charge went off prematurely when you got to site three? You have to find another proton charge somewhere on the ravager to set at site four.

That's strange. I got my Shotdown program off the brown droid by the Ebon Hawk. I got the Power Supply access code off the terminal in the Exile's room...

patch!! there's a patch!
Reveilled replied to AnakinSolo2002's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, I just installed it...no readme or nothin'. Don't know what it does, and since my bugs aren't reproduceable on demand, I have no idea if it's fixed. However, it did say it has been updated from v1.0 to v1.0a, whatever that actually means. -
Where did you get the lens? If you bought it or created it at a work bench, it's an upgrade lens, not a base lens. You need a base lens, which you can only get by progressing through the story.
-
You need a base lens, of the sort you can only get by progressing through the story. You cannot use one you have bought. In fact, I'm pretty sure the descriptions of lenses that you buy or make say that they cannot be used to create lightsabers, just upgrade them. Also, Bao Dur doesn't actually build your lightsaber, he just tells you you have the parts, then tells you to spend some time with a work bench.

If he says something like "Admiral Onasi, Mical here, I have found the Exile", then that seems to suggest that Mical is a call sign, or a last name. So I wonder what his first name is, and I also wonder why the hell he never bothered to tell my LS Female he was in love with his real name. More to the point, I wonder why "Disciple? What sort of name is Disciple? Either make up a cooler name or tell me your real one!" wasn't a dialogue option in the game. Because I'd sure as hell have picked that one.

KOTOR2 Early Review ak Bashings, Smashings, & More

Why the hell wouldn't the sith be dumb enough to fall into that trap? I can't think of a single SW villain that didn't make some stupidly huge mistake than a five year old would have seen through! Would a smart Sith Lord allowed a situation to arise where his apprentice could fire on his ship when it is boarded by Jedi? Would a smart Sith Lord try to get his apprentice to kill said apprentice's son? Would a smart Sith Lord try to encourage his good-to-the-core son to turn to the dark side instead of killing him? Would a smart Sith Lord order that the Jedi who have been causing him so much trouble be held prisoner aboard a ship until he gets there? Would a smart Sith Lord constantly gloat about how great he is in front of his enemies instead of just taking them in an ambush and killing them without a word? Would a smart Sith Lord employ an army of fools who couldn't hit the side of a barn, much less the main characters, in a firefight? Would a Sith Lord pay no attention to the fact that a strike team of mandalorians and force sensitives have boarded his ship? Where on Earth did you get the impression that Sith Lords are smart? Cabbages have higher intelligence than Sith Lords. -
Well, Swoop Racing is well and truly broken, so don't even bother with that until a patch fixes it. As to pazaak, I don't know of anything I missed when I played through the game without it. But maybe I did.

Lucastarts gets their orders from Lucasfilms? WTF am I only learning this now? Why do people keep blaming Obsidian Ent for a game brought to us by the people who thought Jar Jar Binks was a good idea? I knew this was a plot to make Revenge of the Sith look better! I guess we'll have to wait for NWN 2 to see what OE can really do. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We keep blaming Obsidian because they haven't even shown up here to explain themselves, help people with problems, say sorry, or even to tell us the status on any upcoming patch. Even something so much as an acknowledgement of the problems would make us a little bit happier with Obsidian. But what have we recieved? Nada.

Yes.

If you're male, during the time at Dantooine, you'll get a cut scene of Disciple talking with Carth Onasi, and saying "This is Mical" or something to that effect. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, so only male characters get to find out their names? That sucks.
-
Huh. Missed that somehow. Handmaiden's name for obvious reasons, but if there was a dialogue option that told me disciple's real name, I never got it. Or, I did, but that stupid skip voiceovers bug made me miss it entirely. Ah well, I'm sure I'll find it when I play through again after it is patched. If it is patched.

There's a brown droid by the door to the ebon hawk. You need to access his computer and download a program called "shut down". You'll also need to use the console in the Exile's holding room to get the codes for the power system. Then go to the bridge, transfer all the systems to the secondary power source at the right terminal, and then use the left terminal to upload the shutdown program, gain access to the power system, and run the program on it. The door will open for you.

Your geuess was right: HK-47 joins your party. Handmaiden and Diciple ate the different party members for the different gender of the PC. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks. Now all I have to wonder about is why they don't have real names...
-
Out of curiosity, since I just finished playing through with a LS Female who got Disciple, I had an open slot until the end of the game. I had assumed that HK-47 would go in there (I never did finish him), but I never met any Handmaiden. Is she Male only, or did I just miss her?

sith lord vrook??? "spoiler"
Reveilled replied to master skidder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The three at the final meeting is what I mean. And that sole act of tearing the exile from the force, as well as the fact that they speak about it like they have done it before (they know that it is apparently quite painless) is what in my opinion makes them all sith. If the Exile did something like that, s/he would get a ton of darkside points. And if you do consider that the other two are neutral or slightly light sided, an act such as that would be more than enough to send them tumbling over the line of neutrality straight into evil. At the very least, none of those three are Jedi, and while they could be "good" for a certain definition of good (in that they are trying to save the galaxy, even at the expense of others), that definition is not compatible with the Jedi code or the Light Side of the force. That part of the game to me is an exemplary demonstration of that saying "the path to hell is paved with good intentions". I am reminded of Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four when the villain asks the protagonist how he can claim to hold the moral high ground when he claimed previously that he would throw acid in a child's face if it would further his goals. -

The random loot generator actually created a plot hole in my game. As far back as Peragus I recieved a breath mask as part of what I assume was random loot. Well, breath masks give you immunity to poison, and so -
sith lord vrook??? "spoiler"
Reveilled replied to master skidder's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Those three at the meeting are most certainly not Jedi. Not by any stretch of the imagination. The Jedi don't kill their prisoners, this much we know. We can infer from this that they don't torture their prisoners. Even if it would save the entire galaxy, the whole universe, a Jedi wouldn't kill a prisoner. It's the whole mercy thing, the thing the Sith hate most about the Jedi. Now, what greater torture is there to be torn from the force against your will? To a force sensitive, that would probably be a more horrifying and emotionally damaging thing than being raped. that those three masters would not show mercy to the Exile, no matter how much it would benefit the Galaxy, marks them out as Sith. Hell, from what I understand, even Revan (who was also trying to save the Galaxy, it would seem) didn't go about violating individuals on a personal level before her amnesia, and she was the Dark Lord of the Sith! There is no doubt in my mind that those three are Sith, even if they deny it. -
Well, I got it when I finished Dantooine. And I got all the other parts on Dantooine. It does take a fair while to do Dantooine if you don't know exactly what you're doing, though...

I had a sentinel/watchman with a double saber and a 10 STR. Once you add stasis field, lightsaber finesse, master flurry, and a whole bunch of DEX and WIS increasing items, even the bosses are failing their saving throws, and everyone goes down in two rounds. Only Darth Treya gave me any trouble at all, and even then I just had to reload one time in order to beat her. My entire game after getting my lightsaber was just stasis field followed by master flurry. Easy peasy.

WAHHH - I'm getting ready to start KOTORII
Reveilled replied to ladyrevan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Very near the start there is a conversation where you talk about Revan. You get to say whether Revan was male, female, light or dark. I played with a LS female Revan, and I had no major problems with the descriptions of Revan (except that sometimes, she was referred to as 'he', but usually it was 'she'). -
I don't believe that is entirely accurate. I have to check when I get home, but I thought I noticed that their response appears above the main screen. Normally, I don't look up there, since I prefer to read what they say as they say it, but if it skips... When I get home, I'll make sure, then perhaps I'll post some screenshots. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only their last line of dialogue appears. If they have more than one line, everything before the last line is lost.
