Well you may as well just play a different game since these particular planets, just to name a few are important to this particular fictional universe, and since Coruscant hasn't really been explored as location in a game it would be nice to see it in KotOR III. (I know it is in the JK games but it's not exactly significant.) If this is to be a trilogy, wouldn't it make sense to convey some of the story within the capitol of the Republic... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just because those planets are important does not mean they necessarily should be in the game. In my opinion, a fictional universe where the places are more important than the people and their ideas isn't much of a universe at all. If a game (or novel, or whatever) was set in the 19th century, places like New York, London and Paris would be very important to that world, but that does not mean that the game could not be set in Darkest Africa. Similarly, just because Coruscant and Dantooine are important does not mean the game cannot be set in the Unkown Regions. Besides, KotOR I and II are set a long time from the main events in the SW universe (namely, those of the films), so why can't KotOR III be set a long way from the main worlds?

I'd prefer that KotOR 3 start in the Unknown regions and stay there. That means no cliched planets like Tatooine, Dantooine, or Coruscant.

What would you have the next 'Darth' be?

Shouldn't the Force Ghost help Darth Bethlehem roll away the boulder blocking the exit after three days? -
Actually, I was just joking. But wait, you didn't undertand that, which means that I am misunderstood, which meand that I wasn't joking which means that I was understood meaning I'm not misunderstood, meaning I was joking, meaning I am misunderstood, meaning-- *head asplode* Damn paradoxes.
-
Neither. I'm just misunderstood.

KotOR 1. If KotOR 2 had been less bugged and ended better, then it would be better in my eyes. However, I can't ignore the fact that while KotOR 1 left me with a feeling of achievement and happiness, KotOR 2 left me with confusion and disappointment.

I think what's being referred to is a puzzle involving pemdas. In such a puzzle, you're given some numbers, told the answer, and must make the answer from the original numbers. One of the rules is often that each sign can be used only once.
-
Cause? unkown. A bug in coding, possibly, that was fixed in a patch for KotOR 1 and will hopefully be fixed in KotOR 2's upcoming patch. Until then, you may be able to avoid it by not playing the game for more than a few hours at a time. Exiting out of the game and restarting it seems to reduce the frequency of the bug for me.

The game stops in Nar Shadda...

Try walking to Pylon 3 in the docks area. A cutscene should trigger if you haven't already had it. That might help things along. -
Bugs in Kotor2 - what are they? Wait for patch?
Reveilled replied to ObBob42's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Hell yes. If you have an ATI card, you might get lucky--like me--and encounter no problems at all. More likely though, you will be unable to progress past Character Creation due to a Black Screen of Death bug. You could always try, though. Character creation doesn't take too long. If you get past that, you should be okay. -
yes but those don't affect the suspension of disbelief. No one in Star Wars claims to be speaking "english", they speak Galactic Common which had been dubbed into english for an english speaking audience. If Han Solo came on screen and said, 'i wish Jabba would just speak english' then I would agree with you. similarly, referring to some species as 'human' is just a translation of whatever galactic common term is actually used. In that same way we see the use of words like 'falcon' and 'dragon' even though in the Star Wars universe those terms only mean approximately what they do in the real world. the 'human' characters in Star Wars aren't actually human of course. Han Solo for example is a Corellian. He looks human enough that through translation we get away with calling him 'human'. And as far as the name Luke is concerned, there's only so many four letter combinations possible, so it isn't that hard to believe that some phonetics would end up being mirrored across different cultures. It happens on earth all the time. The Lunar Shadow thing is unacceptable because it's as glaring as calling a ship the 'Saturn Shadow' or the 'Jupiter Shadow' in the Star Wars universe. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hold on. Are you saying that Luke isn't unusual because phonetics can be mirrored across different culturers, yet the word Lunar cannot be mirrored across different cultures? And that while every other word in Galactic Basic is not actually English but a dub translation, "Lunar" is an actual English word used in Galactic Basic and not an English translation of its approximation in Galactic Basic? I'm afraid your logic eludes me.

Where did this screen shot come from?

It would have been a similar scene, with dark side energy collecting on the floor and the exile collapsing, but that screenshot is inside the tomb, not outside. -
Odd Bug with the end sequence
Reveilled replied to Demon Messiah's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I know that. If they were using a post-patch version, they wouldn't need to go through the buglists to check for the bugs, because they would already be fixed. My point was that since they were using a pre-patch engine, it is only common sense that the bugs that were fixed in the KotOR 1 patches would still be present in the KotOR 2 engine. Thus, it strikes me as strange (and stupid) that Obsidian did not go through the buglists of the KotOR 1 patches to make sure these bugs would not appear in KotOR 2. I'm sure if they had asked Bioware nicely, Bioware would even have told them where to find the bugs so they could fix their version of the engine. -

The only dead cert I know of is the Swoop Racing bug, which stops you from being able to swoop race at all. Aside from that, it's a lucky dip of 'special features'. If you have an nVidia graphics card, give it a go, but ATI cards have problems, so I'd wait for a patch if you have one. -
If you can control your power over the DS, then your face won't show it. But if you're overpowered in the DS (like Sidious, Revan, Exile) you can't control it and begin to show it in mediums other than your mind (ie your face). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So why does Atton start to get the same condition when he goes dark? I can't imagine that he's all that powerful. And someone said something about Exar Kun not looking like that, wasn't he one of the most powerful Dark Siders?

Odd Bug with the end sequence
Reveilled replied to Demon Messiah's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Actually several of us have, and you should count yourself lucky you only got it in the ending! I and others got it consistantly throughout the game. At present, there is no way to fix it, but it seems to get more frequent the longer you run the game, so if you encounter it, just exit the game altogether and restart it. Not much else you can do, really except wait for a patch that fixes it. FYI, it was a bug in KotOR 1 that was fixed in the second patch. Strange that Obsidian never bothered to go through the buglists of the previous game to make sure those bugs were not present... -
Bleuch. I don't think Malak or Vader made concious decisions along the lines of "wouldn't I look totally badass if I was missing a body part?", and since he got "t3h ugly", I bet Palapatine has a whole lot less friends than he did when he looked normal. And if you've got no pals, you're probably not cool. Darth Maul, I admit, looked cool, but he didn't look dead. And Darth Tyrannus (Dooku) didn't look like a zombie, so in a sense even some important people look like they've still got a circulatory system. Also, the other characters in the game also get Sith skin when they get evil, so it is hardly marking you out as important... In fact, the whole ugly dark jedi thing strikes me as the exact opposite of what you'd expect. After all, vanity is something you'd be more likely to find in a Sith than a Jedi, right? And the Sith give in to their emotions and revel in them while the Jedi deny them, One of the most powerful of emotions in humans, if not most races, is lust. It seems to me that if anything, a Sith should be more concerned about how they look as they fall to the dark side.

Looks like Sion. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Looks like someone who'll never get a girlfriend who can see... Seriously though, why can't the Sith take care of their skin?

"bonus dialogue" in KOTORII
Reveilled replied to neonblack102's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That's foreshadowing right there! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He must be gifted... I swear, he should get in that line of work. Maybe he should join the ranks of the Echani warriors (they can predict the outcome of battles too). I mean he predicted something that would happen 4000 years from then. I can't even predict what will happen 5 minutes from now (Can anyone?). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can. In five minutes, I will be stting at my computer reading a forum on the internet. -
I'll take what I can get if it stops the voiceover bug. And I'm glad they'll release the patch when it's finished, unlike what they did with the game... Thanks at last, OE.

What the Jedi masters hoped to accomplish
Reveilled replied to hawk's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm not sure it's so much analogous to the death penalty for a murderer as it is analogous to the death penalty for someone who, while innocent now, might nevertheless at some point commit murder. Less of a killing murderers thing, more of a killing-innocents-while-labouring-under-the-delusion-that-killing-innocents-will-somehow-stop-murderers-from-doing-the-same thing (and that's a long thing). But this isn't really the time nor place for a death penalty debate. If that is the case, then there was a great opportunity for one of the Masters to say something like "Your lack of faith disturbs me" to the Exile. What a shame! -
What would you have the next 'Darth' be?
Reveilled replied to Sithmasteryoungy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Darth Teractive, a Sith lord who kills his enemies by monologueing them to death. Any input by his victims simply leads to more monologueing. however, if you are willing to suffer horrible design in his arguments and a ton of irrelevant crap, you can get all the information you need from him. Darth Flammable, who must breathe lighter fuel in order to survive. However, he is ultimately sustained by the force alone, because unless you are a Sith Lord, kids, solvent abuse can kill. Darth Noculation poisons jedi with a special disease that kills the midi-chlorians in their body causing them to die a forceless horrible death. Jedi are turned to the Dark Side by him through his offer of an Antidote. Darth Ept is a thirteen-year-old wannabe Sith groupie who constantly pesters the Sith Lords and wants to be a mass murderer like his daddy when he grows up. His bumbling antics provide comic relief. -

What are you talking about? I don't remember it ever being said that Revan, Malak and Bandon were their real names. Edit: *slaps forehead* I took the bait didn't I? Whoops. -
