This is quite a pickle. I would suggest that the turn be adjudicated in 24 hours regardless of how many sets of orders there are, and that if the other players do not submit on a second subsequent turn, that we find replacements for those players, or take a vote on declaring the game abandoned if we are short of four or more players.

Surely that logic applies there also? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a semantic debate, because now (if I understand correctly) Ender is arguing that free speech is an absolute right (guaranteed under the US Constitution's First Amendment) that is inalienable. But, after making a free speech, the person can be called to task in the usual civil way (sue) but they have not committed an unlawful act in esse. I also note that the benefit of this meathod is that it can be (and is) enshrined in a lexa scripta, so there can be no misapprehension. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem there is that according to those articles I posted, merely threatening to bomb someone's property is a felony, and therefore something for criminal prosecution, instead of civil law. Which would suggest to me, that even semantically, there is no difference between the US and UK's laws on free speech in this regard (other than the object of the threat, obviously).

I'm more inclined to go with the idea that aptitude in certain areas is hardwired into male and female brains, such as female aptitude with languages, and male aptitude with spacial reasoning. They're just general things, though, so one still would find women adept at spacial reasoning, or men skilled at learning languages. It makes sense from an evolutionary point of view, as male hunters have more use for spacial reasoning (so they can throw more effectively), but less use for spoken language (since one only needs simple verbal commands and hand signals to hunt effectively, and excessive verbal communication could alert prey), while female nest-guarders have less use for spacial reasoning (not needing to throw things much), but more use for spoken language (as verbal communication with other females wouldn't alert prey, and females are more likely to be enslaved rather than killed by a rival tribe, making communication with the new tribe more important). Historically, societal conditioning has reinforced such roles, but it is such a universal function of societies that it seems to me that the societal roles are a result of natural gender roles, rather than said roles being solely the result of society. I hasten to add that while our biology might not have changed much in a few million years, our society has, so I'm not advocating that we force men and women into these roles, only that men and women are more naturally inclined towards certain abilities, and thus towards certain professions. But these are still generalisations, so we should not prevent people of one gender from taking up professions because it is generally done by the other sex, but we shouldn't be all that surprised if people of one gender generally choose not to do something.

OKay, I'm now getting confused as to what is going on. I only just realised that F NTH isn't in IRI as I had thought, though it isn't listed in the positions, I'm not sure what's happening with new players, or with the builds of other players that were missed, or is the deadline for S03 still stands as it is for tomorrow. Either way, if we're pausing the game to find new players, or extending the deadline, I'm in favour. If we aren't, I'd like to request that we do so until everything is sorted out.

All news networks have a bias, that is unavoidable. Even if it isn't made explicitly clear, it is always there in the way things are reported, what it reported on, and who is spoken to. But when you get down to it, what really matters is whether that general bias is a function of the biases of the reporters, or whether the biases of the reporters is a function of the general bias. Simply put, what matters is whether that bias is deliberate on the part of the institution. Any news agency that doesn't try to be objective, be they left or right wing, isn't worth people's time, and shouldn't be considered a reputable news source. Unfortunately, that leaves one with very few reputable news sources.
