  1. Mod it. Design choice. Gameplay practicality over realism.
  2. Good to know this required a separate thread, what a quaint notion to reply in an active discussion. Glad to know we can all get angry about this all over again and lose our collective feces about it for the Nth time. And don't use terrorist in this context.
  3. How does an advice and a feedback make me a "billigerent ****"? And why shouldn't Obsidian decrease the VO work if a lot of players agree such an amount is not necessary? After all, cutting on VO frees additional budget to spend on other, more important things. After all, in most cases, less VO = more dialogues. Because your feedback is nonsense that dribbles between VO quality versus quanity of VO work. You want less VO work but higher quality? Baldur's Gate 1 did that. But wait, players complained they wanted MORE VO work because they liked it so much. You are one side of a pointless argument where one clamors for more VO for every line of text (because reading is SO difficult) and VO work for one or two sentences (because the developers choice of VOs is SO bad). Just turn off the audio. Problem fixed. I will agree that not everyone will enjoy the quality of the voice actors, that can be rightly debated because you can't functionally change the audio without recording new lines and modding in the newer ones. But complaining about quantity straddles the line of incredulity. A lot of players agree? Yes, all 5-6 of you agree. My what a throng of erstwhile allies clamoring for less content because it offends their ears. And thank you for insulting voice actors, audio personnel at Obsidian stating that their work isn't as important as the writers. Less VO =/= more dialogue, ever. So yes, I think those who complain about too much VO work are a bunch of entitled brats. I stick by that statement wholeheartedly.
  4. Oh no, I won't be able to play a patched PoE. I guess I'll have to stare vacantly or indignantly at my computer screen rather than play the myriad of other games I own...
  5. ... Seriously? There are people who had complained there wasn't ENOUGH voice overs yesterday. No, Obsidian should not reduce or increase the VO work. You don't like it? Turn it off. You want more? Why don't you pay the VOs for additional hours of work. Obsidian can choose to switch voice actors, spruce up the scripts, etc. I hope they don't factor any future decisions on the mewlings of brats. For the love of god, you are belligerent twats with entitlement issues.
  6. All the butthurt feelings in this thread makes me laugh. That's what mods are for.
  7. I'm sure it is as easy as you describe it. I'm sure there are modders eager to fulfill this request.
  8. I'm glad an ubiquitous quote in a forlorn section of the game can arise such discussion. I'd hate to see what sparks the next incendiary chorus of recriminations... Oh well, we know how it goes,... This is the song that never ends It just goes on and on my friend Some people started singing it not knowing what it was, And they'll continue singing it forever just because . . .
  9. I've no problem with romance in CRPGs, as long as it isn't wedged in or tacked on to sell copies. If you want romance, you can mod it in. Or play an older RPG that allows you to fulfill the ultimate nerd dream of making out with a dark elf.
  10. You'll have to do any refunds through the distributor/seller. You've bought it from Steam so you should seek a refund from them via a support ticket. Sorry you didn't enjoy the game.
  11. I'd be more interested in how the mock review is conceived and realized than the actual metacritic.
  12. I have only read the backer emails, I've avoided any and all information on the game, including previews. I'm more than happy with that decision as it hasn't given me a false sense of expectation and I'll enjoy it for what it is.
  13. THIS! This and more this! Succinctly explains everything. We needed 7 pages to derive at this point.
  14. This thread is a goldmine. You sir, are the real goldmine here. I bow to you.
  15. Common decency towards financial backers shouldn't be so little that this is to be "expected" you're correct nothing was discussed. However they also never said they'd be supplying free review copies with the ability to stream it to everyone. Or discussed that with fans. The people who made this game are not novices to the industry they know your fans are your greatest asset - they should have done more to respect them in my opinion. There is no point in discussing with you sycophants. Your feelings of "respect" have been hurt and thus, want to feel entitled to an invisible and intangible feeling of ownership. Stop saying it is about respect. If anything, it is about how far a company should treat backers and to what degree one has ownership over their investment/backing. The mewling over respect is entirely in your head and that of LordCrash. I hope this comes as a lesson to you to be wary about how you pledge in the future and be mindful of how developers will approach this in the future.
  16. He already said that it's about RESPECT and not about legal stuff or promises. It just doesn't feel like backers have a really high stand so shortly before release at Obsidian, no matter what they tell in the documentary. No warm words, no actual communication or conversation, no "sign of good will", no visible attempt to actually talk to the backers. Just business and "fulfilling duty", doing what is necessary. That's just disappointing imho. Call it lack of heart or lack of enthusiasm if you want. Define respect. In this case, define what you want a game developer to do in order to "respect" their backers. I see it as a legal issue because I don't have these illusions that I was integral to the game development process. I paid money, I supported a company I like and they deliver on what they promise. You may think their approach as cold or transactional...but in NO WAY have they disrespected their backers. You, and those who take umbrage, have inferred disrespect from actions that are meant to carry as much exposure as possible for the game's success. Disagree with their process you may, but do not call it a lack of respect.
  17. @Cymelion I agree in principle but only by how far one distinguishes the difference between a consumer and a backer. Please provide evidence where they promised exclusive right to the game before official launch. When the Kickstarter began, the informal (and customary) belief was that you purchased/invested into the game early and depending on your pledge, the benefits you were guaranteed to receive. Nowhere was it stated that you were to get your keys earlier. You are NOT entitled to said keys earlier, as it was NOT inferred NOR stated in any press release that backers would get keys earlier. I will concede, as mentioned earlier, there should be discussion on what backers can INFORMALLY expect from a studio/project they have backed. That is one where Obsidian will have to soul search on and in my opinion, should have spent a little time. Hindsight is 20/20 and Obsidian will mull on this, whether they set up another Kickstarter or not.
  18. Keep your knickers and/or pants on. It is a game. A video game. You will get it this week, at least by March 26th. There is plenty to do in a day that doesn't require losing one's mind over a video game. Everyone is excited, pumped up to play. This is not a life and death issue.
  19. Looks great, though I went with digital version. Being Polish myself, a cursory look at their website/youtube page makes it appear they are games journalists/reviewers. Though I doubt that's a review copy of the game. He was simply fortunate to get his early. I'm sure they're going to miss that future 50 or so dollars from you...
  20. If you're talking about that video in the other thread, it's Polish. Thanks for generalizing about us. Physical copies breaking official release isn't unheard of. You'll get your game soon enough.
  21. For all intents and purposes, the game is "finished" as it has gone gold on March 20th. However, as someone has stated, streamers and youtubers cannot showcase anything past a certain point. Reason? Obsidian has probably a day one patch in mind but feels comfortable enough to allow that much of their product for public consumption. Furthermore, this is advertising and meant to bolster hype/visibility. Most Kickstarter backers on these boards have been "playing" the game/beta already so they know what to expect. The presumption is that being an early backer should allow us early access to the game, which it technically already has. This isn't Steam Early Access wankery. This is good business sense and expecting more for a pledge at that level is asking to be treated like a pampered celebrity. Let it go.
  22. Replaying the whole Baldur's Gate saga from the beginning for the last time. Hadn't tried the Enhanced Edition content and it's nice to play through again.
