  1. Most of these are complete reworks of the system. I can tell you the answer: no. Wait until the sequel.
  2. Ditto on the front page or bestseller list on Steam. That bolsters sales; millions of eyes looking at that front page.
  3. PoE isn't far off realizing that. Just needs more work. My statement was that the perfect isometric rpg is in everybody's head and much harder to translate from vision to reality. Not everyone will be happy; glad that you will be.
  4. I picked Planescape Torment and honestly, I got on board due to Avellone's writing and the call back to isometric rpg gaming. I haven't watched a single gameplay video, read a few of the updates and kept myself shut out from all information regarding PoE. The majority of backers had these pie in the sky romantic ideals of what the perfect rpg should be and that Project Eternity would fulfill that grandiose vision. As long as it doesn't end up a puzzle adventure fps game, I'll be happy.
  5. I can live without romances in my RPGs. It feels shoe horned in to appease old schoolers who keep making call backs to BG2 or other RPGs claiming that it's feature or "necessary" for the immersion. As for how to apply good romance gameplay, I'll leave that to better minds and developers to figure out.
  6. Reemphasizing the same point in the same thread will not elicit the response you want from the developers. Simple as that.
  7. They won't. If the animator chooses to speak up, his boat. We'd sooner see it within the blog updates on kickstarter than here.
  8. The intention is nice and I'd support it if the development process wasn't nearing at an end. The script has been finalized probably two-three months ago and hiring talent to voice over isn't like picking up a phone and asking said talent to come in for an hour. Just reread the recent update: "In addition to all of this testing and bugfixing, we've also been recording and integrating all of our voice overs for dialogue and character voice sets. The recording process is complete and we're now hooking them all up into the game. The audio folks have also been hard at work creating more varied combat sounds to better communicate what's going on in battle."
  9. It's a game. About spirits, fantasy and magic. Realism flew out the window a long time ago. It's about what works as a gameplay mechanic. I like both varieties equally; I just don't like poorly designed real-time or turn based games.
  10. Why does every game require public testing? Because of their size and complexity? Screw public or open betas. I agree Obsidian's track record is shaky at best in QA but that's their call to make, not yours.
  11. Playing devils advocate here: I don't believe it is feasible to maintain so many changes in pledges, especially when many of said pledges have physical components or intricate rewards. It's simply not doable anymore. It makes perfect sense that you cannot upgrade your pledge. The add-one are there for people who are missing out on premium rewards, that's it.
  12. Is there? Where so? In the orders tab of your account, you can select the physical edition reward. It'll be costly but that's the only way, presently, in purchasing a retail version.
  13. Wow I'm surprised those requirements are so low; it'll be easy to churn out more content if the engine holds up. I hope this leads to another BG1 to BG2 situation where expansions will have tons of content.
  14. Seriously, people complaining about virtual trinkets, you know intangible electronic bits that add superficial images to your online characters. Bonkers. Do I envy the 500 or 1k kickstarters? I wish I could back with that amount. Will they get more gimmicks and items? Yeah, they put more upfront. If you're not a kickstarter backer or backed less, tough. You're not missing out on exclusive quests, characters or anything of that nature. Spoiled brats is all I'm hearing.
  15. Welcome to pre-orders. The game is currently in closed beta for kickstarter backers and if Obsidian wants to open it up for early access backers, they will. Kickstarters didn't need immediate incentives to back the project. So be nice and wait.
  16. I kickstarted this project regardless of bonus in-game items and special doodads. The purpose, inherently, was to reward early backers and incentivize larger donations. Donate 5$, get a high five. Donate 1000$? You can bet they'll try to make it worth your money. As a kickstarter, you paid for this game to be made in advance; the justification that others may be missing out on bonus content is moot. The difference between pre-ordering and donating in this example is that the game in question is already developed/in development. If the game hadnt been succesfully kickstarted, it might not have been made in its current incarnation. The bonus fluff and the game are your return on investing your money to their project. We can waste hours on the gritty finer points but the fact of the matter is that you gave money for an idea of a game. Pre-ordering is for a completed product...at least that's what we want it to be.
