  1. I'd like to see Phoenix in the Sword done as a feature lenght movie, with Milius and Arnie. Makings of a modern epic there.
  2. What do you mean repetitive? Whole genres of media are based on stuff staying the same, like the nth fantasy strategy and WW2 fps every year. Exactly how many 30's mafia 3rd person shooters have you seen around lately? One? None at all, right? You argument, if it is an argument, really doesn't hold water. Let's look at it this way, which one would you prefer? 30's or 50's? Hell, which one would most people prefer?
  3. Man, this remake feels like 40k 3rd ed all over agagin.

  5. Awesome > great > pretty decent > Brute Force > PoS
  6. I still think Conan isn't just a dumb barb. Some multiclass should be involved. Edit: Also, I haven't felt this geeky in a while, but Howard's Conan is so great.
  7. You know, everytime someone jabs at you in the Internet, you don't have to make an apologetic essay about it. Everyone here has thick skin and expects thick skin from others, it's not like it's personal or anything. Anyways, I'm about to watch Over the Hedge, I love the comics, I hope this is at least half as good.
  8. I don't think brown is the new black. Especially on noses.
  9. The problem is that along the way WotC decided they should merge minnesingers and skalds and never worked out how that actually plays out in a rpg that's so combat oriented.
  10. http://www.2kgames.com/mafia2/ You said it, bub. I've been pretty hyped for a while, although the setting is more modern than I would have liked. Who am I kidding? This is just awesome, old, but awesome!
  11. Hour of the Dragon was freaking awesome. *ahem* I think I agree with Leferd, Conan was never a professional thief. If we go by D&D standards, rogue levels, at least only a couple of them, probably isn't unaccurate. It's just that there probably is a prestige class or a combination that fits better and is a more valid choice for him.
  12. Of course, you are right. However, I was merely making a general observation on the mobster genre, since astrocreep mentioned The Sopranos as well. I prefer the second movie myself, as well. The characters had an established depth already which further helped the movie.
  13. It's a fracking hard sidescroller by the by.
  14. Conan was a very decent thief in Tower of the Elephant, dodging tigers(well, almost) and guards, climbing the tower, etc. After that he apparently did a lot more gigs as well(if comics are to be believed). Not to mention, he worked as a corsair for a decade, which wasn't mere headbashing. Conan has a working knowledge of stealth, rogue's craft and general swashbucklery, and I'd say he'd be at least a level 4 rogue. I'd like to say 6 or 7, but that would start to outweight the barbarian aspect. The main point is that for a time his...profession wasn't a "barbarian", which is a reason to enough to not make him a pure one. As for being unarmored, well it depends. In Phoenix in the Sword, Conan wore armor and he's used stuff like padded leather before, it's just that the standard Cimmerian is the Red Nails-Conan who fought naked waist up. Sort of a misconception really, Conan probably wasn't stupid enough to gear up like that when the job was known to include battles and raids and not just tombraiding in the tropic, for example, it's not a huge stretch of mind to imagine him wearing armor when he worked as a mercenary in the steppe or a caravan guard somewhere else.
  15. The Godfather isn't how the mafia is, anymore than 'Hero' was about how the ancient Chinese were. It's a fantasy talking about what we'd like it to be. EDIT: To be fair we fantasise about lots of stinky things to make them seem better. I don't understand how someone isn't smitten by the romanticized image of mafia. Or rather, I understand how someone might be disgusted with them, but I feel that not watching Godfather because they hate the reality of graft and underworld is a bit like not playing Medieval:Total War because in reality Crusaders butchered every city they came across in the near east. Reality and romanticism are very different things.

  17. So do I. And for the record, pruning mkreku's joke was almost humorously prude. Coming from a Swede, a joke like that is a given. I doubt anyone here will throw a fit over something so trivial.
  18. Yeah, that and the visual flair.
  19. No preferance whatsoever. I only prefer certain genres on consoles to pc and vice versa, not the actual system. My only gripes with PC is the constant tech-creep in games and bugs, consoles I have no gripes with it, except maybe the lack of mouse and keyboard, but that system isn't really designed for games which need those, alas the genre preference.
  20. Witcher loading times has nothing on Gothci 3 save and load times.
  21. Yep.

  24. I think the main reason Nietzsche gets a negative portrayal is because he was a nihilist. I'm not saying he was wrong, just that nobody thinks well of nihilists. As for Auvinen, I read the manifesto and he didn't seem much more intelligent than the average, just more read. From the manifesto, it didn't seem like he had anything much to say, not to mention anything new, he was just bitter and alienated.
  25. Here, Lajciak.
