OMG... Thats just... sad. But strangly understandable.

If you don't have TotSC make sure you get it, because it adds some really fun stuff to the game. Infact the Tower is one of most enjoyable game experiences i've ever had with a D&D based PC game.
-
Agreed Can I get a refresher here? I have no recolection of any Psionics. And as far as a ghost is concerend, well thats a ghost. Its not magic. Its folklore if anything. Supernatural? Sure. But magic? No. IMO magic is just a lame excuse to do things one normally could not do in a midevil/fantasy setting.
-
Fantasy doesnt mean it has to have magic. Look at the Fallout Series For example.
-
I think all Fanatsy Magic systems are dumb, Mana or not. Too many David Blains in the RPG world. I think if you need to have magic in your RPG make it more Scientific. Example would be in a goffy cave man game, the guy who can create fire by rubbing some sticks together, would be considerd using magic. Magic =the stuff the most people can't explian at the time, but doesnt go beyond the laws of physics. I've said my part so flame away. P.S. Why ar'nt there any goofy Cave man CRPG's?

Well I made it to Page. Intresting game.

Well that was kinda intresting. I made a Troll emptied my Blader and got slain in the forest.

Soilders at War. Being an SSI game I was'nt expecting much. I have never been a Big Fan of SSI. A freind recomended it to me when it came out so I tried it and was Tottaly Suprised how much I loved it. It was very addictiing, and tons of fun. Great implementation of TB combat as well. I really like the Opertunity Fire Option which at the time had not been seen on any other Turn based Game. On top of that the Game editor that came with it was equally as cool and easy to use. It had Custom maps and scenerios in no time. If your a big WW2 Fan and don't mind outdated graphics Pick this up. I also heard the Silent Storm was very simular to this.

<---See avatar. Any questions? :D

Sacrifice. At first I though wow this games gona kick some major ass, then I played it. <_< Also I think Lionheart is getting a bad Rap. It was;nt a great game by any means, but it was'nt un playable. Infact it was quite fun, right up until the complete abomination of an ending. It just had 0 replay value, and was not what people expected. Porblem is people were expecting Bualders gate using the Special system or somthing. Which it most definatly was not. I have to also say that ToEE is in the most disapointing game list for me too. Only because I hated the User interface so much that I never played more then 5 minutes of it. Radial Interface= bad for me.
-
Unfortunatly yes. It seems too many people figured out that if you throw a Star Wars or D&D tag on somthing it will sell through the roof no matter how bad it is.

I hope they keep the ambiant sound quality as good as the others were for there time. When they first 2 came out there were stunningly emersive games, due largly because of the graphics, and ambiance. Good stuff. I must admit I didnt like the Age of Mythology spin off, lets hope these one keeps true to the AOE standard.

I have an Older Jeep Cherokee 4.0 4wd. Yes it eats gas, yes its a bohemoth and yes it is an automatic, but it also has alot of spunk when you lay into the pedal. I much prefer the automatic Transmition for my Jeep. With small trucks, and sports cars of course the manual shift is the way to go, like if I had a Viper or somthing. I would be very painstaking to have manual shift in my Jeep with the insiane traffic we have around here. It would drive me nuts. I think it's just a situational thing. For offroading I prefer the automatic too. Too many other things to worry about when romping the desert, like ditches, rocks, thick shrubbs, the occasional wandering cow! The funney thing is I have 4wd, but I've never needed to use it(4wd option) even when off roading. Seems like a waste, but if I did'nt have it I'm sure i'd run into a situation where it would be needed to get unstuck or whatever. Anyway I have No Idea where this post is going hehe, Congrats on the sporty looking ride J.E.

I havent Been a Student for many years but I do remeber those student discount books that had all the great deals on software. I would Love to take a class somewhere but locally there are only 2 schools that teach it, and both are kinda crapy. I know I went to one of them for my BA . I wonder if being an "online" student would count? They have those online classes all the time maybe theres one for 3d modeling? Hmm oh well again thx for the advice.

Thx for the Responses. I also heard that Maya wants you to repurchase the license if you upgrade your comp... As expensive as that sucker is and as much as I upgrade for new games etc, theres no way Im going with Maya, so I'm glad you guys seem to go the 3dsmax route. Maybe Santa will be kind this year... hehe yea right.
-
I'm just getting into 3d modeling etc, and right now am using Gmax, Basicly cause it's free . However I'm wondering if any of you have sugestions on what you suggest for a good 3d tool. There so many to choose from, 3dsMax, Maya, Lightwave, etc... Any Thoughts and why? thx

Call me a freak, but I really have'nt seen any reason to hate President Bush. I'm not his biggest fan or anything and I do disagree with some of his ideas, but no sitting President is gona satisfy everyone at the same time. Most of the people I know who claim to hate President Bush, ironicly are the same people that voted for Al Gore, and were really ticked by the outcome of such a close election. Some of them did not understand the Electorial Vote process, and have been screaming conspiracy ever since. The Fact is the Bush is a guy who's decided to take the hardest job in our nation and try and be the figure head for our counrty. Not very many people have done this, and even fewer have done it right, yet we still prevail. More and more people refer to the Government as a sepreate entity from our lives, as if we have no control over it, but nothing is further from the truth. WE are our own governing body. We run the country, if you don't like somthing, then stand up and change it. No one in our government has done anything that they though was not good for our counrty, ever. They may be wrong about certian things, but thier intentions are genuine. That said I think people like Michael More make this "shock docs", because fear sells. He jumps on a dead horse and beats new life into it. He does "controversial" things to get the media attention. I think Michael More is a brillaint Marketing guy, selling alot of people stuff they want to hear, and nothing more. Calling this movie a Documentary would be like calling Quake a CRPG. Looks more like propaganda to me.

I would Hope that If Not FO3, It would be some completely original game in a never before been done setting. HMM The first ever Cave man RPG? As long as there is alot of fun and comedy mixed with an excelent combat system, and has Nothing to do with D&D, tyhe D20 system, or Starwars at all in anyway. Also Must not contain the following: Swords, Shields, Magic of any kind, Armour, Driods, Lasers, Spaceships, Dragons, For that matter Monsters at all. It must have: 1.A Mature rating. Not just a Mild "M" but a big Heavy fat "M" that strikes controversy and gets some lawsuits happening. 2. Can only support Multiplayer, if and only if it is justified, without comprimising the single player aspects of the game. 3. Must be perfect upon release and require No Patch ever for any reason. 4. If NPC's are available the Must be rich non sterotyped fully conceptualised characters that actually have a true purpose for being their, and not just to facilitate the PC. 5. If experience is nessesary (which I don't think it is) it needs to be done well, with a proper leveling up system, that makes it equally rewarding everytime. 6. Character creation needs to be Intuitive with many options that are truely relavant to game play without the possibility of "bad" options or "wrong choices". I also think a HP system would be a bad idea and would think someone could actually come up with somthing else. Also allow an infinanate # of letters and symbols for charcter names. I don't know how many times My charcters name has been cut off in games becuase the one I thought of was just too long. 7. Needs to have a save on the fly and Pause features for that important situation where you just have to stop to awnser the phone or whatever and not owrry about whats going to happen to your game. 8. Needs to Have a well thought out coheasive stroy complete with a rich background and setting history, which to follow (ala Arcanum). 9. Needs to take 6 months of actual game play to finish but not get boring or stale. (also if a leveling system is inplace it should Still reflect the 6 month time scale, where your not spending 3 days to gain a level but rather allow the charcter to advance to infinity if needed.) This goes in with my NO EXP idea which i will explain later. 10. Needs to have an adequate Transportation system to traverse whatever needs to be traverse in a timely and resonable fasion. For Instance, why No horses in midevil fantasy worlds where most people travel that way, but you the Hero, the guy with uber loot, tons of cash and saving the world need to walk all the time? Silly. 11. Fun, Fun, Fun. It's a Game fun needs to be emphasized. If it's not fun you've just ripped people off fro 50 bucks or whatever your gona charge. Even the most advanced amazing state of the art game, will suck if it isn't fun first and fore most. 12. No usless tasks. I cannot stand these tasks where some charcter is just too lazy to go and do some minial thing themselves but are more then happy to charge you with the task. This whole "Go find this, then comback so I can tell you where to delvier it, then they will tell you to take it to someone else, who will then add somthing. Then bring it back to me so I can give it back to you, so you'll never use it" Idea I see in so many games is just boring filler. Im sure theres tons more but this is basicly my idea of the perfect game. *The Exp Idea(or lack there off) is this. You simply Gain lvl advancment if nessesary by completing certian aspects of the game. Why have a running xp count? You should simply be rewarded for your accomplisments, not cause you beat on xxx monsters alot. This way your being rewarded for overall compleation of things rather then because I'm an uber waroir type charcter. This would also help emerse one into the plot a bit more, knowing that it does'nt matter how many random whatevers you have to kill. It keeps you on track on the story paths IMO.

I fell for that peice of Junk. Actually It was pretty cool during the beta. But definatly Not what I would call an RPG by a long strectch. If anything it's a glorified FPS. See what they did was have this open beta where everything worked great (basicly a server load test) and there were a few bugs to report but nothing major and all worked out fine. Then they Released it. $15 bucks a month , $50 for the game, etc. Now the first week or so everything was fine, then a few people finished the game faster then expected and the Nerf Bat came out. IT has been swinging away ever since. Apparently the Dev's Idea for the game was that someone would pay 15 bucks a month and take like 6 months to get from lvl 1-40 ! The only problem is the only thing to do in the game is kill stuff and lvl. The Joy of leveling really only happens every other lvl since thats when you get a new power. But that wears off fast, and is always subject to the mighty nerf Bat. Now the thing is they have nerfed it so Bad that getting from example lvl 23-24 you need to kill some 18,000 bad guys or so. Not to mention that all the cool fun skills that actually worked are pretty much worthless rendering some charcters stuck and pointless at mid lvl. So combine an extreme Grind with nothing to do but grind (seriously thats all it is), with a really neat character costume designer, ad $15 bucks a month and you get City of Heroes. It had potential to be the Best MMO on the market, but alas it is becomning the worst. I can pretty much bet this will be the Last NCSoft Product I ever touch.
-
I really hoping for a dvd release that combines the two as one nonstop movie! I think it's best seen that way anyway. I know some people who wernt as into the second half becuase the first one had so much action. But eh what do they know? I thought the whole thing was brilliant! Jackie Brown boring? hmm did'nt see it that way. And saw it in the theater and many many times at home.
-
Lets Just hope it's Not another DnD or midevilish Fantasy. WE need somthing new! (or FO3)

This topic caught my eye, and I am more Intrested In the Design aspects. More so whats envolved or required of a designer in a gamming company? As a graphic designer who loves games I've always wanted to eventually break into the industry but not really sure, where my skills could be put to use the best. I have a basic Understanding of programming logic, but I'm not really intrested in the Programing side of things. I'm not really an illustration or 3-D modleing guy either, but I'm more of an Idea man. I'm good at putting concepts together, tweaking things so they feel just right etc. So I guess I'm wondering really, what is it that the true "Designers" do in the Gamming Industry?

Wow that was awsome! 96k? I'm truely blown away. I could only imagine what that game could be inside of 10 meg! I dont understand how they got the Music compressed into such a small file? But then again I'm not a dev so I wouldnt know these things. Anyhow GJ guys, that was truely amazing!
