So that was terrible...
Gunnar.Maluf replied to Katarack21's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
hmmm I guessed this was the issue. You are in the mage's keep where a band of mercenaries are attacking him and threatening to do the same with Caed Nua right? That map is for higher level parties. I tried attacking it with my level 12 party and I was having a hard time facing more than 3 enemies at once. That map is designed for higher level parties. There are enemies scouting, so when you start a fight with say 2-3 enemies, then 1 or 2 more join the fun. Also there was a type of mercenary that produced duplicates. Not one...2-3 of them each! I was facing two of them so 5-6 duplicates all of the sudden. I will try it again after I get better gear and higher level. Ps: Playing on Path of the Damned. -
what do you think?
Gunnar.Maluf replied to Gunnar.Maluf's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I remember importing from BG1 into BG2. Dont remember being able to start over with my previous end game character. -
I played the game twice once with a wizard and once with a barbarian. I wanted a feature in the game that I could import my barbarian or wizard into a new game (with all the gear) and xp to just blaze through the game to see different quests outcomes (playing once with each faction in Defiance Bay for example). I don't have the time for another 100 hours playthrough. For this to work the main character would work like diablo characters work or the game would import the main character from a savegame. You can start and play with them through the game anytime in any difficulty mode. Doing that would disable achievements of course. Note however that I don't want the diablo core mechanics or farming. I just want the character available with all its gear. Another neat feature would be to have adventurers you created in another playthrough available for hire for a higher fee. What do you think? Would you use those features?

Update 100: The White March - Part I
Gunnar.Maluf replied to BAdler's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Announcements & News
My special compliments to the art team of the game! I decided to be a backer with one screen and after release Pillars became one of my favorite games of all times. And one that I love looking at and explore. Also would like to thank you guys for the constant improvements being made into the game. Pillars 2.0 is a better game in all aspects than 1.0 was. Thank you so much!- 88 replies

Does any one knows if it's possible to play the expansion after defeating Thaos? -
Northweald Fog of War Agro bug
Gunnar.Maluf replied to ORCACommander's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
I also just had this bug. But mine didnt end combat even after I cleared the whole map (including cave). In my case, I think it's related to ending the At the mercy of the tribes quest. I started the quest, went to Northweald, talked to the tribe leader killed the sieged group and kept moving on. After I kill Cwineth is when combat never ends. Also, if I try to get back to where the sieged group was (before killing Cwineth), it also happens. It seems to be associated to not ending the quest and the quest region on the map.- 4 replies

Amazing idea! I hope your tool goes beyond Pillars of Eternity and reach other games in the future! Learning a language like that is faster and funnier.

The entire world needs some German wrath. This would be so unfunny if you're this Luckmann http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Complaints_about_Gothemasticator's_ban_of_User:Luckmann http://luckmann.deviantart.com/ I think we all should focus back on the game instead of discussing things that are not related to this forum.

I think Obsidian is in bit difficult place with enchanting system, because there are group of people that think that it destroys uniqueness of loot and therefore it should be more restricted or even removed from the game. And then there is other group of people that think it is too restricted and it should be more open. I'm in the first group. The items we found didn't feel as unique because you could make a fine sword into a Exceptional one without a hassle. Sure, they limited the resources needed to make superb items but even Exceptional was just too good already. I like the feeling of getting great loot from fallen enemies, specially the ones that were hard to kill. If it's just aesthetics that matter, then lets make a system/tool to edit the asthetic of the items you carry without changing it's properties. That way everyone could look the way they want with gear that's amazing. Other way to fix the unique items without removing the enchanting system is to give unique items, unique properties that you cant get through enchantment and those properties would not count for the maximum enchantments allowed making those unique items really good (charging more to enchant than enchanting normal items). The game's balance could be a problem.

is kinda a no-win for the obsinaties. for every person that wants a dungeon crawl and thinks such is the epitome o' ie gaming, other folks want less wave after wave o' beetles, trolls and undead... which is iwd dragon's eye... or is it endless paths? and am not sure how folks distinguish errand quest and a new major side quest. take the one ring to mount doom to be destroyed is an errand quest. find the grail? *shrug* HA! Good Fun! That's true. What I meant as "major side quest" was that I would like to see more open areas with varied types of quests instead of levels and levels of dungeons just for the purpose of gaining experience to level up. But you are right...it's impossible to make everyone happy. Maybe they will go with the "cake recepy" and make it half dungeon crawl and half open area making everyone happy

Play now or wait?
Gunnar.Maluf replied to Saxon1974's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I recommend you to play it, so when the expansion comes out you will be able to play it right away since it *might* require you to have finished the game to play it. Also the game is very stable now, and it's a lot of fun to play. -
ETA on Expansions?
Gunnar.Maluf replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Its not free. You keep saying that, but I still haven't seen that source I asked for. http://www.shacknews.com/article/89004/obsidian-ceo-discusses-pillars-of-eternity-its-early-success-and-its-first-expansion Not only that, but everyone who contributed to the Kickstarter will get both parts (which means assumedly you bought the ExPack as well). If they said they would give the expansion for those who already contributed in the kickstarter what are they charging those $20 for? -
ETA on Expansions?
Gunnar.Maluf replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
We're on the same page, since this game has so much potential to expand on. What I don't get is the two parts bit, since it puts us, who didn't back the development - I didn't even know about POE before steam recommended it to me - in a kind of awkward situation. We more or less have to play an unfinished adventure or we have to wait for the second part to be released to the general public. Which is pretty much what I will be doing, since I can't imagine embarking on another playthrough, knowing full well that I won't get the full experience until several months later. On top of that there's all those balancing and bug fixing we all know about so well now. -
ETA on Expansions?
Gunnar.Maluf replied to redneckdevil's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Honestly? Stating they'd not only make an expansion but give it to you as a reward tier was a friggin' risky (and really stupid) move.I don't think I understood you since I didn't say they should give me anything for free. What I said and meant was that I would like them to keep doing expansions and / or sequels for the game. You even quoted me saying that they already charged for the expansion. Well, they didn't charge for the expansion, which was my point. They have always made it clear that the run-off funds and profit from pre-orders would go towards funding the expansion. As for you thinking I was attacking you or whatnot, I did not mean for it to come off as that. I was merely expanding upon your thought. That 'honestly?' was not meant to be hostile. No worries. About the expansion, I actually bought it. Just before the game being released they gave an option to buy the expansion. I think it was about $25-35...
