  1. Still dont get it. If it sold $4m (even if part of it was investors (not half of it by the way)) it still made a lot of money in a niche market. If I recall correctly it made more than double of what POE did in the campaign (even discounting the investors). If we are talking about a niche market (number of players are low/restricted) then we might assume the majority of it backed the game in the campaign since it made more money than POE. If the majority of the player base already backed the game, sure it will sell less afterwards...
  2. I think i'm missing something here. Didn't Deadfire raise more than $4,000,000 in the fig campaign? That plus being bronze on steam seems like a good result. No?
  3. Superf**king awesome spell effects. Just superb. Loved it and can't wait to play it. Meanwhile can we get another pillars expansion to ease the burden of waiting?
  4. It amazes me how ****ty the patch system works in this game. They should learn from Blizzard. Donwloading close to 10gb every time a patch goes wrong is a pain in the ass
  5. The patching nightmare again... Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part 1 patch log File not found (for patching): C:\GOG Games\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_data\assetbundles\prefabs\objectbundle\construct_flesh_armor.unity3d
  6. There has been two versions of the GOG installer for the Linux version of 2.02, if it’s the same for the Windows version and you missed one, I guess you’re stuck re-downloading the game...Sorry for that, please don’t shoot the messenger Well the terminology confuses me to begin with - what exactly is the "installer" they are talking about? The only installer I can find reference to is attached to the GOG downloader - I have made every update so far from 2.01 to 2.02 and now the only option shown is 2.03 (there is no longer any option to get previous updates) and why would one of the patches work while the other says I have the wrong version?????? Meanwhile I have the DVD version installed on my laptop and it's stuck on 2.01 with no access to white march so I'm beginning to feel a bit annoyed... I have the exact same problem. Did you find a way to fix it? By the way, in the previous patch you got someone else's file to fix a issue while upgrading as well? I did...maybe you did too and this could be why the patch doesnt work.
  7. vv221, they could have a base version for which all following patches would be built on and earlier versions forgotten. Let's say 1.0 is the base version. So we would have the patch file upgrade till they mark the next base version. If in this example they remarked the next base version to 1.06, then after that someone would only be able to download the vanilla game in version 1.06 and the patches wouldn't need to have information prior to 1.06. In this example, we would have 2 patch files available: one that upgrades from 1.0 to 1.6 and another one that upgrades 1.06 to whatever comes next. Although we have two files, as soon as the second file is made public the first one will not be needed anymore. This way the patch file would have all patches in one file and they could keep track of it's size.
  8. Note that Gog's galaxy downloads gigs for each patch we have so far. Also note that huge patches are not a problem for some games ie Batman Arkham Knight
  9. Well, if that happens then you would have to agree that the game shipped in a ****ty state. Patches are not the norm, they are the exception. If we end up patching the whole game then I would not buy anything else from such a company. That's not the case with pillars however, all patches so far were small. My only complaint is about how patching is done.
  10. The way I see it, the gogs patching system as is today is not professional. I don't know if it's gog or obsidian to blame. I fear it's obsidian's fault since they are the ones that compile and distribute to Gog all files/patches. All needed files to patch from any version to any other version, expansion or not in one file. That's the correct way to do it.
  11. And download 6gb with every new 200mb patch? Nah.
  12. Wrong. No mods or console use or anything and my patch installation had missing files problem. If you’re using the Linux version, please open a thread about this in the "Technical Support" subforum and I’ll try to help you find what got wrong. If you’re on Windows or Mac OS I won’t be able to help, I know nothing about these. Windows.
  13. I guess you won’t have any problem as long as you don’t install mods on your game. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the people having problem with "manual" patches have modded their game at some point prior to trying to install the patches. Wrong. No mods or console use or anything and my patch installation had missing files problem.
  14. I already got the file you provided. Thanks a lot, Oralaina! Also noticed loading time improvements! Great job, obsidian!
  15. Why cant you guys just make a patch for WM containing everything needed. That way folks that only have the main game will get one patch only and people who have the expansiond get one patch. Gog here and also missing the file after patching. One patch only people please.
  16. This will not prevent the 4 slickens. Wanna slicken your way through? Rest before each fight. The only place it will make a difference is in the pit. Other than that you can just rest as much as you want.
  17. I don't see why it was cheesy before. Because in a game where resting is not a problem, not even while reaching the last boss, per encounter or per rest doesnt make any diference in practice. If you fought, and now can only cast 2 spells instead of 4 fix it by resting. Now, increasing the number of spells that can be cast, that's another story.
  18. It would be amazing if you could target a certain area of enemies. This way they could design different parts of the Dragon with different resistances. Imagine that you could discover which is the weak point of a dragon with lore, reading a book, talking. And those books, conversation lines could only be seen / talked about with a certain amount of lore points. If you don't have enough lore points you could still learn it through try and error. I would love this.
  19. I would rather like more if they gave us means to debuff the dragon to a point where you could hit him with melee and/or ranged.
  20. I've seen people complaining about the fights, not because they are hard but because you can't defeat the dragons without using cheesy tatics and all the other encounters you can just steam roll for the most part. That gap between the game encounters is the main complain. I would love to have encounters that work more like the BG games, lots of buffs and debuffs going around to one party gain an edge on the other party. The White March improved on this but still a long way to be optimum. Take food and potions for instance, I can count in one hand all the times I needed them, and that's without using all my fingers. Even on Potd.
  21. I finished the game on hard and on Potd and it feels more balanced on Potd. On hard i steam rolled things 99% of the time. Last boss and a certain dragon being the exception.
  22. One simple way to integrate it is to award the Stronghold as a quest reward. For instance for those who would complete knights of the crucible quests. Or any other faction's quests. The way we get it is very dull and very early in the game. You just walk in and it's yours. I don't like the current mechanism of invoking the player to solve things in the Stronghold. This would be awesome if integrated into the second part of Radric's keep quest.
