Well, then here I go again Mr. Judge Hades. How different is it playing a scoundrel / scout from a Jedi Sentinel armed with blasters, equipped with an armor (should you not like the option to use any force power) and you select force powers which are restricted by Armor? There are more then enough.
-
We finally touched a nerve yes? No, I don't want to be a very very powerful Jedi that can make stars go supernova, create black holes, make volcano's erupt (or stop if LS). I just want to be able to use some force powers and use a lightsaber. Now, you sayd you don't have a problem with that in one of your other angry posts. Okay, then you want to play as a scout. Well, then, as I said before many, many, many times, equip yourself with a Melee weapon(s) or blasters and blow the s*** out of some bad guys. Equip yourself with an armor so you can't use all force powers. Select those that are restricted by Armor and of you go. Enjoy your game. And there comes one of your earlier responses I guess "It is a bit lame to play that way in a Jedi class". Is that all, you are annoyed by the fact that each time you level up, you have to pick a force power?! And, each time you look at your character screen, you see that you are a Jedi??? And you are called "Jedi" a lot of times? Well, I can simpatize with the last thing that that is somewhat annoying, that many people call you a Jedi. And that's why I think we should have a fixed name in Kotor III! But that's all. A jedi is no different than any other human being. O yes, he/she is force sensitive. Does that mean that he/she has to use the force??????!!!!!!! NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
Well, since you are practically new here I'll try to explain. If you are choosing not to play as a Jedi the game has to become very tough for this character to get through the game because otherwise playing as a Jedi would become even easier then Kotor II on Easy setting. Sure, there are moments where another character would come much better, in Kotor I this was far more obvious. In this game, you had a level cap of 20 and quiet limited skills compaired to Kotor II. And it is these limited skills and levels that made Kotor I IMO better than Kotor II. Take the underwater base on Manaan. It would be very helpful if you have a party member here that has a high Computer Use and repair skill or in the shadow lands of Kashyyyk where someone with demolitions skill comes in handy. But that doesn't mean that the player character shouldn't be a Jedi. I mean, very few people will buy Kotor III if you could not be a Jedi, and then how would you end Kotor III. No doubt the game has to end with an encounter of the Sithari or supreme dark lord of the Sith who is far tougher then the ones we have seen so far and has probably also a way to heal him/herself in a second and become more powerful with every second or something like that. Now, this person can probably not be defeated by a scout, or could he/she? And finally, I explained this earlier. Particularly in Kotor II you could play the game without ever using a force power or lightsaber. I sometimes select a Jedi Sentinel, then fall to the Dark Side, pick Sith Marauder as a prestige class. Equip myself with 2 Mandalorian Disintegrators with appropriate upgrades, maximize on Dexterity. And never used a lightsaber. Don't forget to pick the precise shot feats. Okay, I equipped myself with a Jedi robe because that thing has no maximum dex but you could also equip yourself with a high dex light armor or maybe the Miner uniform. It's entirely optional even when playing as a Jedi to use the force or a lightsaber. I guess some people are just to bothered that when they level up are going to have to pick a force power or look down at the screen and see that they are a Jedi. Other than that, there are some who say that you are going to need different endings, an ending where you have to end the game as a Jedi and an ending as a non jedi. Well, in that case, it means, more work for the developers in a too small time window. Because, believe me, if the developers are going to put a seperate ending or even storyline as a non jedi then it will be an even more bug ridden and a more broken plot then Kotor II.
-
listen i think you and I (kalfear) are the only ones that like KOTOR 2. i agree with you on everything. i think 2 was better because of the instant jedi classes, the prestige classes, and the ability to make other characters jedi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Forget that, it's just that there are some dominating figures on this board who have 1000'ths of posts who want to play as a non jedi. Well, back when everyone played Kotor I on the Bioware boards, a lot of people, most (80% or more I guess) were holding back levels to get a 2/18 character (2 S class / 18 Jedi Class). But I don't think you have to worry. It's Knights of the Old Republic. Not Soldiers, Bounty Hunters or Smugglers of the Old Republic. Besides, I just like to continue (just as the NJC (Non Jedi Club)) saying that you could play as a non Jedi. Using Force powers and a Lightsaber is completely optional (in both Kotor 1 and 2).
-
If you don't want to play as a Jedi! Then equip yourself with HEAVY ARMOR and only select Force powers which are restricted by Armor! Then you are no longer Jedi. Sorry, I can't just resist!
-
Those are some good points JediWeaponsMaster. Indeed, what is a Kotor game if you are not playing as a Jedi, and the difficulty setting, well indeed it is true that particularly in Kotor II what does it matter after level 20. In Kotor I at least the Star Forge could be very difficult if you choose to go on your own and on Difficulty setting "Hard". Also, in Kotor II the Random Loot Generator means that you also don't have to worry about money. Just sell a lot of Garbage and buy the good items, reload, reload etc. And about Jedi Training with others, true. I guess you should have training with a Master during the game and later provide training to others as well. That's a good idea. O wait, since Judge Hades is still spamming almost every page in this thread with the fact that he doesn't want to play as a jedi, well then I am going to spam him every time with this: If you don't want to play as a Jedi! Then equip yourself with HEAVY ARMOR and only select Force powers which are restricted by Armor! Then you are no longer Jedi.

Sounds all right so far Architect. Sure, I can think of some questions. I think it is quiet a bit difficult to either start as a Jedi or as a Sith being one of the most promising students. Is your alignment at the start completely neutral, like in Kotor I and II or are you 10% light or dark depending on Revan's alignment. Also, is this New Jedi Academy / New Sith Academy in the same place, what planets do you suggest for the academy('s)? I also would be delighted if I had a Lightsaber from the start. Is this the case? Blue, Yellow, Green or Red coloured off course. Also, how would Bastila (as a Sith) convince Admiral Cede or Queen Talya to work with her? If the new Sith threat didn't reveal itself yet. Note that I am not saying that it would not be possible, I am just curious and I think that if we had good idea's the dev's might read and agree with it too.
-
Well, Thanks Darth Kurdt but it's allready on page 18 of this very thread. Provided by who else then Bastilla Skywalker.
-
I think it is not the thing people are looking for on the moment. Yes, you could see what would happen in the Mandalorian Wars but you know what would happen, right? Revan and Malak will fight the Mandalorians, A lot of Jedi will join them including the Exile. Revan and Malak will fall DS. The Exile is the only one who returns to the Jedi Council. I also doubt how you would choose light or Dark Side. And who do you want to play? As Malak? As Revan? As the Exile? Or as a Jedi and have the choice to fight the Mandalorians or go with the council. The latter option is... Meditating..... Meditating...... and Meditating....... Hmm, boring game. Also Imagine what it would be like if Return of the Jedi wasn't made and Lucas made the Phantom Menace before he went making Return of the Jedi? No we do want a Kotor III after Kotor II, we wonder what happened to Revan and also the Exile.

Finally some bright idea's and it is certainly not a long post Ben. In the past, when this topic was quiet new there were other idea's like this but currently, yes sorry to say that, I consider more than half of the topic just Spam. To your no.1 request, I can say that I agree with you, the storyline is one of the most important subjects of any RPG. Sure, I liked the improvements in Kotor II on the workbench. The new bench called a Lab Station, allthough this one was very unrealistic when you could instantly convert a grenade to a Life support pack but I don't find it to bad. But indeed, the overall look should indeed be quiet the same, and I somehow think it will be. Well, maybe we can have a new graphics engine so it will look very good. To your no.2 request, why not remove the random loot generator. I remember wanting to go to korriban early to get the Solari crystal / to Kashyyyk for the Circlet of Saresh. It is so boring to reload a location / merchant / lightsaber person because you want a certain item / crystal / specific lightsaber don't you think. No.3 request. I completely agree. Why not make quests far more meaningful and move up lightside or darkside. Have someone to intervene etc. Maybe something like the Genoharadan quests in the first game. You thought you were helping the republic, but no, you were killing Genoharadan Overseeers so you moved up to the DS. That's what we need. I didn't like it at all in the second game that you could side with the Mercanaries on Dantooine and with Vaklu on Onderon and you didn't get a single DS point. Who has ever heard of a LS sith. About your 4th request. That's a good one too. How about this planet list: Look at http://www.nav-computer.com/ if you need help Almania Alderaan Byss Chandrila Coruscant Falleen Ilum Khar Delba -- not in nav-computer but Khar Delba and Khar Shian are both Sith worlds Khar Shian Myrkr Ziost Okay, maybe that's a bit of a too long list but I am sure that some could be removed. And we could off course see Khar Delba and Khar Shian as one world, Shian is a moon of Delba. It will be like Dxun and Onderon which I also see a bit as one except that Dxun has no cities. Well, I just hope we would see more of these posts rather then the usual. But it's not to late for anyone to make good posts that makes sense. What makes sense? Okay, IMO, underbuild your posts. One line like: "I want to play as a Bounty hunter". Well, developers would (and should) not read this kind of comments. Why do you want to play as a Bounty Hunter? IMO, it's only a limited Jedi Sentinel. It's a Sentinel without the possibilty to use a Lightsaber and Force Powers. Ha, It reminds me a line of Jolee to Bastila : "From now on, you can treat me as any other non jedi in our group with a lightsaber, and force powers". It would also affect so much of the game. I mean, Kotor is for a large part also about being a good guy, often refered to as the LS. Or being a bad guy, the Dark path. Now, how would you play a Bounty Hunter as a DSider. Sure, it's quiet the same as doing it as a Jedi but keep in mind that most people like to also see an end like the one's we saw in Kotor I. LS, joining the republic, save Bastila from the DS and defeat Malak, destroy the Star Forge. Or DS, become the new Dark Lord and kill some of your companions. How different will it be to become a bounty hunter and destroy the Jedi Order to let the True Sith concer the Republic only to, we know it will happen, kill you. Don't say you could become a new ruler of the Sith without Force Powers and Lightsaber. Sure, if you are a Lightsider the Republic will reward you with probably both credits and gratitude for doing your part. Also, consider that we also have quiet some solo missions in Kotor II. I wonder if that's not enough for you, if it is imporved that is. In all these solo missions you could play as: Atton T3-M4 Mira Hanharr Remote And on Dxun as a party leader: Atton Visas Marr Handmaiden Mira Disciple Sure, I wouldn't mind having the NPC's have prestige classes like Bounty Hunter but do not do this to the player character. Some came up with different ending for so many player character classes. Well, to that I can say that the game is then becoming way to complicated. Keep in mind that a developer is not getting so much time to develop a game, maybe one or two years and that isn't enough time to make: A) A very good Storyline for so many types of characters: read point B B) Make 6 different storylines to suit every different storyline e.g: * The Jedi / Sith storyline (2 endings) * The Bounty Hunter storyline (again 2 endings, or do you wish one ending, no DS or LS) * The Soldier storyline (2 endings) * A Droid storyline??? If anyone here would be interested to make a long post about how you would see it possible to make several storylines or even 1 storyline and two endings (DS and LS), A Grey ending would be great IMO as well as it improves replayability but not much more. The developer must spend most of the time in the storyline. We all saw what happened to Kotor II and I doubt anyone would want to see a Kotor III with even more bugs and an even more uncompleted storyline. Or are there some people out there who are celebrating if they could run Kotor III and see that there is an option to play as a Soldier or Bounty Hunter and have a very uncompleted or simply boring storyline like: Go to Republic Headquarters, accept a mission to infiltrate in Sith Space, then a choice: A) LS: Report back to the Republic Headquarters B) DS: Report to the Sith Masters about who you are and report all republic secrets to them, where the military installations are etc. To finally destroy the Sith fleet as a soldier in a space battle or plant some nukes in a Sith space station as a bounty hunter or fight the Dark Lord of the Sith as a Jedi. Or the other way around as a DSider of course. No, Kotor is a very linear game which should come with a very good deep going storyline.
-
Yes we are so very very stupid.... right. What does a non force sensitive player actually add to the game? Let me see... The Soldier has the ability to get a lot of feats, more than the Jedi Guardian and the Weaponsmaster / Marauder but the soldier doens't have the ability to carry a lightsaber deflect blaster bolts etc etc. so the selection of feats is less. The Scout has, just like the Jedi Sentinel the ability to have many skills, okay the targeting feats are the only feats a scout has which a Jedi Sentinel has not. Still, when I play as a Jedi Sentinel / Marauder I could very well handle 2 blasters in Kotor II. If there would be a competition: Mira vs my Blaster wielding Exile the Exile would win because of the Higher Vitality points. The Scoundrel has very little Vitality points like the Jedi Consular but has sneak attack and very many skills. This is the only class which isn't done in any of the Jedi classes. Yes, to a certain extent the Jedi Watchman and the Sith Assasins but nothing else. Well, Okay. If you want to play as a scoundrel then well, that's okay. Remember that you could always play both Kotor I and II without using force powers and never equip yourself with a lightsaber. O, and uhh.... never look at the class you are playing. It can be done. I have played a game as a blaster wielding Jedi. It's fun, but on the other hand, not realistic to kill a Jedi Master, Sith lord and even Kreia at the end with two blasters and precise shot feats. The only other reason I can see so far is that you don't want to be called "Jedi" so many times. Well, I agree to that and that is why I think it would be a great idea to let the developers decide our fixed name or have 2 or 3 possibilities. Off course if we are going to play Revan then that's done. Well, off course you know by know that I am against the playing non jedi in Kotor, but give us a some good reasoning here, develop an idea of how to deal with the O so powerful Sith lord / Jedi or whatever in stead of throwing a Thermal Detonator, okay.. I one's played a game called Jedi Outcast and that's where I found out how a non force user was able to go up against a Dark Jedi.... Go figure.. You cannot win.. And don't tell me Desann was more powerful then, well, say Juhani....
-
Still wanting to beat the super ultimate most powerful Sith lord with a non force sensitive? Okay. go ahead and throw a thermal setonator to a jedi. He/she should push it back to you. Goodbye Judge Hades! Then you want a machine gun with cortosis weave bullets? Sure. The Jedi could probably stop bullets in mid air and (if he/she is more powerful then Neo) push them all back to you. Goodbye again Judge Hades! And in case you want to place 15 mines in one place, the Jedi will probably have learned to use Destroy droid to destroy all of them. No wait, throw them back to you! Goodbye for the thrid time Judge Hades! Finally. If you really want to play as a non jedi. Then equip yourself with a good armor and son't use a lightsaber or force powers. I think the ultimate bad guy would also be very easy to beat if you played as a Jedi when you could also beat him/her as a soldier / scout or scoundrel.

Since it not completely official yet, but if they are allready working on the game I think that one of the worst things that can happen in this game is if we one's again take control of the Exile (who could be at level 50 or if they decide you couldn't have done all those glitches level 28) and that Obsidian decides that Revan is dead. And you know, I somehow think that this is what is going to happen. I think this because the last rumour said that Obsidian have only one year left to build the game. And when they don't have enough time, why don't they just screw up the storyline and build just some kind of Expansion for Kotor II. I sincerely hope this is not the case but I have a bad feeling about this.
-
Heh Bastilla, this was your 1000'th post. Congratulations!
-
I think I have a wonderful idea, if it is true that Kotor III will be made and will be delivered to us at the end of next year, we should freeze all Lucasarts people at the end of next year in Carbonite, so the Obsidian guys will have their time to properly finish the game. Now, anybody prep a shuttle to get all these LA guys to Bespin for carbonite freezing? I am sure they will also fetch a nice bounty for the Exchange. O, o, look what I have written... I guess I played a bith to much Kotor and watch the OT too many times.....
-
I hope it's true but then, I also hope that they have started working on the game half a year ago. If it is done in one year, then Battlewookiee is probably right, or the game must be made with a team exceeding 200 people. BUG RIDDEN, PLOT HOLE-INFESTED III. A bit unfortunate that we do not see new screenshots on your scans.

Somehow I get the feeling that if a random Lucasarts / Bioware / Obsidian Employee get the task to (globally) read this topic and most of the previous KOTOR 3: IDEA'S AND SUGGESTIONS he/she will go no further than the first three pages and then spend the next of his time on the far more serious www.kotorfanmedia.com and maybe the Bioware boards I know some of you wouldn't believe that a Kotor III developer will read this thread but I actually hope they won't read it. Let's see, what most of the Kotor III topic's on this forum are mostly about: 1) Meh, I wish Kotor III will not be made 2) Meh, I don't want to play as a "Jedi" even if it is called (Jedi) Knights of the Old Republic" 3) Then: I think they shouldn't make Kotor III as a continuation of Kotor II because it wouldn't work selecting a face / voice / alignment for Revan / Exile. Yeah sure, don't you know what a game developer is capable of. 4) I want a Kotor III if Lucasarts will not play a role in this. Yeah right, if that was even possible. 5) More spam, spam and another kind of Spam. Now that I have blown away enough steam I guess I'll stay away from this board for the moment and wait a day to see how many people I have insulted on this topic and read there responses.

All those short answers...... Okay, I have just completed a game on Level 50. A good reason to get to level 50 is to get some of the best Jedi Robes which you could not get normally. You can get them at the "Fazza's freighters" quest on Nar Shaddaa. You will not be able to find them anywhere else. To get to level 50 I did the Hssiss glitch in the Korriban tomb. There is really one good way to do this: Set your difficulty level to easy, at least thats what I do to prevent dead and use Force Storm all the way up. I stopped at level 45 so I could make a Attribute adjustment at level 48. The disadvantages are that you do not get any more "random item rewards (RIR)" from people. This includes Lightsabers. I found out that you do not get "RIR's" after you progress beyond level 30. And no lightsabers after level 40. Keep it in mind! It is quiet clearly however that getting to level 50 quickly is really reserved for Dsiders. The other glitches I could suggest you are: Mine glitch: You must be very patiuent! Place mines in one area, then go to another area, go back to the area where you placed 15 mines, Recover them. Have Kreia in your party to speed up the process just a little bit. Assasins glitch: On Dxun, when you are about to go to Onderon with Mandalore. The assasins appear, they keep respawning. Do this quest on your own, because if you or your party members come to close to the command center you will take of to Onderon. This one I can highly recommend if you have a "Blaster wielding Jedi" with two Mandalorian Disintegratos, Two weapon fighting combined with the superior feats a Weapon Master / Marauder has. An advantage of this one is also that the Assasins drop quiet some good equipment sometimes. If you kill a 100 Assasins, there got to be some good equipment in there. Hanharr glitch: O, boy DS only again. Well, you can gain unlimited DS points and 1000 xp each time you break Hanharrs will. Hanharr will get +2 strenght and -2 intelligence. Hanharr can become Einstein however when you break his will on the Ebon Hawk till he gets to Intelligence 3, then break his will outside the Ebon Hawk, and then get back into the Ebon Hawk to break his will again. He will get something like Intelligence 257 or something. When you level him up Hanharr can create any piece of euipment on both the workbench and the Lab station. I believe there is some glitch out there on Nar Shaddaa in the refugee quad as well but I never got it working so far. I just started a LS game and I do hope to get to level 40+ to get the good robes, but I off course also need LSabers. The good news is that you can do Fazza's freighter quest after you have been to Goto's yacht, at least that's what I heard. Just remember to not fix the pylons before you get to level 40. And finally the level cap couldn't be any higher then level 50 since at that point, if Kreia would become level 50 she cannot select any more force powers. Enjoy your game.
-
I don't make threats, only promises. Exile coming out of the Peragus dormitories, telling Kreia: "Once we get of this rock I will drop you on a nice little asteroid where you can spend the rest of your short life". Drop Kreia on a nice little asteroid. Influence gained: Atton

After I have heard so many people who said that they wouldn't like to be a Jedi in a possible next Kotor game I would think about making a poll. IMO, if you are not a Jedi, would you have any Jedi as NPC's?! IMO not since then you will most likely often switch to one of your companions that are Jedi.. By the Way, I would like to start as a Sith. See it from their side and start on an Unknown planet in the unknown regions.

Green and Purple graphics where they shouldn't be
hawk replied to hawk's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I wish that was the problem. No, I am using a Geforce 4 4200ti Nvidia card. Thanks anyway. Edit: Ha, I got it. I turned up the refresh rate from 60 to 70. Now that I turned it back to 60 I haven't got any more problems. -
I have a problem with graphics here. after I installed the game on a new harddrive and started a new game on every door I saw Green and purple graphics where they shouldn't be, making the appearance very unrealistic. I hereby add a screenshot of what it looks like: Anyone any idea's how I could solve this?

most worthy sith Lord (fight skill)
hawk replied to Yoda_I_am's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This poll has too few options. The one's that are missing are Darth Revan and don't forget Tulak Hord. IMO Palpatine is quiet a bit of a coward. He killed his master in his sleep and he also made a very effective but cowardly tactic for sure like some order 66. -
The Influence system IMO is a good addition, but i feel somewhat letdown by the implementation of it. It is quiet clear that Obsidian liked to do something different and that you didn't get more dialog, as it is with Kotor I, to get to know the people a little better, but instead they thought it better if you could turn them into Jedi / improve their or your own status. IMO it would be far better if you could unlock more dialog and a subquest of the character (like Kotor I) or maybe a combination of the two. I find more dialog very important however. And, it would also be very welcome if you lost too much influence with a character that he/she leaves your party.

A PC only Kotor III. No problem for me. But that isn't going to happen I think. And, I really don't mind at all. I mean, at least I can run both Kotor games fine on my P4 1,8 Ghz with 1 Gb memory and a Geforce 4 Ti 4200. Pretty old equipment I would say (3 years, apart from the Ram upgrade I made). But Hades One opinion that Kotor III shouldn't be made?! Well, no one forces you to buy this game, and good that you are not the CEO of Lucasarts. It is not your decision.
