Did You Agree With The Influence On The Crew?
AlanC9 replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I wonder.... was it a deliberate decision to make you have to choose which characters to gain influence with in a particular game? It does increase replayability, in the sense that you pretty much have to play the game more than once to get everyone's story. -
For starters, try Googling the model of your card and "drivers", or go to the manufacturer's site.

I've been told that the game always crashes on the 82865G graphics controller at startup. But if you load a save, you can play past there. There's a funny video effect at the beginning which might be crashing the game (T3-vision), so I don't know if you could finish the game or not. If you described your starting character, someone could start a game, email you a savegame, and you could play from there. Edit: sooner or later you should think about a vidcard. The 82865G is actually a pretty good chip, as on-board video goes, but it's really not a long-term solution.

Party dissapears on 2nt world possible minor spoil
AlanC9 replied to tony2259's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
That will work. It's a change from KotOR 1, where you had to go back to the ship or the Taris apartment to swap members. -
I could have sworn it defaults to female. Or maybe it defaults to the opposite of the PC's sex? Edit: man, I must be incredibly bored to post in a thread this dumb. And I'll take Mara Jade over Luke any day.

OK... it just seems a bit out-of-scope for a mod that's trying to make the game more difficult. Doesn't removing constraint make the game easier?

Why make all skills class skills? What's the rationale?

They look like they were shot through frosted glass or something.

Is this a problem for the cards, though? What temp are they rated to?

Won't run on an Intel 82865G (yeah, I know!)

Yeah, let's both shut up now. :D The funny thing is that the damn chip almost works, according to Auron86. -

You should have stopped posting while you were still making sense. The 82865G isn't a motherboard model. It's a particular kind of on-board 3D graphics controller, used on several different motherboards. I'll plead guilty to writing a vague post that opened the door for you to make a silly assumption. But just because I opened that door didn't mean that you had to walk through it. Again, did you seriously think that someone posting about a graphics chip would blame the graphics chip if he wasn't using the graphics chip? -

Hmmm.... probably it's because of the weird video effect when T3's looking around. So all you need to do is get past that. -
Well, it's pretty clear he's got enough RAM. Hell, I'm running beautifully with 256MB.

Gosh ---- what possible relevance does a motherboard video chip have when you aren't using it? You seriously thought I was posting that having a bypassed video chip on the MB could crash KotOR 2? Edit: OK, the chip does a couple other things too. But still... I've never heard of anyone having problems with the chip unless they were using it as the graphics controller. @Darth Ni: KotOR 1 ran quite well with the on-board video, actually. I was surprised. NWN runs too. -

Using the on-board video? What were your settings? -
Some of my favorite rulebook language ever. Like they had to tell GMs not to do that. My favorite unbalanced build is the flying brick. Strength is free under the system (you get more points back in the figured characteristics than you spend for the strength). Just take enough Flight and you don't need a ranged attack, which is the main disadvantage of a STR-only character.

I gave it a shot on my work machine to see what would happen. CTD right after character generation. The only reason I'm posting is that KotOR 1 did run on an 82865G, and pretty well, actually. Well, I'm off to plug this sucker into my gaming rig.

My favorite PnP campaign ever was the Champions campaign I played(and sometimes ran) back in college. That game did superheroing right, though it could be a balance nightmare if the GM didn't really keep an eye on builds. We used the West Coast of Marvel Earth for the game, so plenty of cameo opportiunities. A couple of PCs took mercenary jobs with a rent-a-supervillain organization, and ended up fighting the X-Men.

How many Different Rulesets are there??
AlanC9 replied to Darth Sketch's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Note that this is a design convention. CRPGs could work like PnP. But CRPG players don't seem to like having the clock mean something, so designers generally don't use it for anything. (Something I dislike about CRPG style) Darth Sketch, sidequests in PnP -- and the term "sidequest" is hardly ever used in PnP, actually -- aren't about levelling or items. It's futile to plan your actions around levelling in PnP, since the GM will throw whatever opposition he wants to at you. You won't get any advantage out of it. Something that NWN mods generally get backwards. Typically, random encounters scale, but boss encounters don't. In fact, it's fairly rare for a PnP game to have sidequests. Most GMs only use them when they want to make players make a difficult decision. Unless the players do something unexpected, in which case you have to make stuff up on the fly.. -
Ah, yes... the eternal problem of how to make things personal for the PC without pre-determining the character. I thought Bio handled this fairly well in HotU. Sure, you're The Chosen One, but that's because the whole thing's a set-up.

Of course it hurts the X-Box players. It reminds them that they could have got a PC instead of a crappy console.

The Tony K AI (originated by Pausanias, spellcasting AI by Jugalator) is all about more intelligence. There is an option that lets creatures get healing potions the builder didn't give them, but it's optional. On Firkraag -- he's a lot less tough than the Shadow Dragon, IMO. Fire resistance is easy to get, and then it's just a matter of the usual anti-fear spells and so forth to turn things into a straight up melee fight that he can't win. You can use Negative Plane Protection against the Shadow Dragon, but that's got such a short duration.
-
Sure. You could rip psionics out of FO and the game would play the same. Thing is, they didn't do that. They left psionics in. Psionics are officially a part of the FO universe now. And FO2 was even worse. No psi, but a goddamn ghost!

Ooh, are we going to get one of those silly Codex threads here?

So generic and dull is bad but the FR is good.....
