How would you have dealt with the end?
AlanC9 replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Well, there have to be a couple of other ships somewhere. Otherwise, how did the other Jedi Masters get there?(assuming you played LS) And if we want to cut the Hanharr/Mira confrontation on Malachor V, why not just leave Hanharr dead on Nar Shaddaa? -
I'm trying to make sense of that number. Def 33 in plain clothing.... 10 base, 4 from Dex... What else? The Handmaiden upgrade? Dueling? The Jedi defense bonus worked with armor in KotOR 1; guess Obsidian changed I just kind of like the look of the Jedi armors. It was kind of fun to put all my apprentices in them. Pity there's no group photo scene like in the original.

This sort of thing makes me wonder ... how many times would you have to play the game to see all the cutscenes?
-
I voted yes, it sucked. It's not so much the actual ending itself -- I don't mind seeing the Exile fly off to an unknown fate. It's everything between Dantooine and the final confrontation that sucked.

Ok, here's my list of fixes for TSL:
AlanC9 replied to AlaricQelDroma's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One of the weird things about ATI cards is that the problems really do depend on OS. My 9800 Pro/Win98 system has no performance issues anywhere, including Khoonda. It just tends to crash after about four area transitions. -
Are non-Jedi classes in KOTOR2 more viable?
AlanC9 replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Even as a Jedi, I found Mira worked better with ranged weapons. All those accuracy and Precise Shot feats she gets from her scout levels let her do tons of damage. In fact, I'm not sure making her a Jedi improves her all that much. And T3 is far from useless in combat. Infinite shields, regeneration, and two upgraded pistols? -
Why isn't it? It's small-unit tactical combat. What's the difference? To put it another way, why should RPGs stick to a command-and-control model that's thoroughly discredited? Perfect information and total control were considered outmoded as far back as the 70s. You just couldn't do much about them until computers.

Party member influence

IIRC, Gamefaqs doesn't like deep-linking to their faqs, so you're not supposed to post direct links. -
Does anyone else picture Comic Book Guy when reading one of Nuke's posts?

How is Personal Crystal Level determined?

Because you never talked to her after you got it? -
The Incomplete Endings are lame.

Looking at the cutscene, I think he doesn't really see Kreia. He just sort of cuesses she's behind him. -
Has anyone found these robes?
AlanC9 replied to Fearless_Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Those might be the Ossus Keeper robes. It's a bit too dark to tell. The Ossus robes are quite good. +4 INT and WIS. -
No, you don't want a game that plays itself. But having total control over anyone but your own PC doesn't make much sense . The ideal situation would be to have total PC control plus order-giving for the NPC companions -- oh, and make the game unpauseable, too. (Some folks mention SOCOM as an example; haven't played it myself so I can't judge). I thought Arcanum's limited command interface was fairly good Though given the limited technologies of today, it's really just a choice of different kinds of bad. Right now the choices seem to be somewhat dumb companions or a perfect telepathic union.

If the exile does not have memory loss...

She says no such thing. If you've got a quote, produce it. Edit: what's wrong with your shift key? -

Darth Malak on the Leviathan all over again, eh? -
Ah, the joys of random treasure drops.

Music is degraded to *MONO* 10kHz @ 48 kbit/s?!
AlanC9 replied to markussun's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Seems like they did the same thing to the music that they did to the cutscenes -- which were released at crappy XBox resolution instead of PC resolution. -
Most of the comics do. Dark Horse typically can't retain A-list talent. (Though the Basilisks are kind of idiotic even in conception)

Man. I must be some kind of goody-two-shoes. My first playthrough I got LS mastery so fast I couldn't believe it.

If the exile does not have memory loss...
AlanC9 replied to kbned's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Tell you what ... when you actually get around to making some kind of argument or presenting some evidence, I'll take you seriously. Quotes from the game are helpful. Or wherever else you think there are contradictions. Until then, I'm going to have to assume you don't know what you're talking about, since you don't seem to be able to post a coherent sentence. -
Who was the better Sith Lord?
AlanC9 replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Malak lost. Kreia won. End of debate. -
The Incomplete Endings are lame.
AlanC9 replied to Jedi Master Revan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
How'd you discover this, anyway? I can't imagine anyone leaving Visas without a robe or some such by that point in the game. -
If the exile does not have memory loss...
AlanC9 replied to kbned's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Since the Jedi Council says the same thing Kreia does about the Exile's force connection, there's no chance she's lying. Haven't you played LS? And you still haven't pointed out any real contradictions. -

Finished Today; Great Game, but Ambivalent
AlanC9 replied to Ginny's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Your feelings are shared by many, Ginny. (Some of Atton's romance-related dialog is part of the cut ending, btw) While you can influence your companions' aligment, their dialogs don't seem to change. This is a design oversight, I think. The best way to approach influence is to not try to metagame it, I think. Keep people who your character is compatable with in the party, and behave as you should. The influence will come naturally. However, some characters have place-specific requirements for influence. Without going spoilerish, you want to keep Atton in your party on Nar Shaddaa. I'd recommend doing that world first in any event. And Bao-Dur needs to be on-planet to gain influence.
