  1. and as we noted elswere... if you is only finding the npcs useful 'cause they allows you to make ph47 1007, then that ain't what the developers intended... and it ain't making the characters useful save as mobile super discount stores... which seems cheap. bao dur is useful 'cause of security and demolitions skills and 'cause of his ability to take down shields... but if only reason you took him off the ebon hawk were to upgrade your lightsabre, then we think that speaks to a serious flaw in the game... and the characters themselves. HA! Good Fun!
  2. but you didn't use 'em for missions per se... you just used 'em to make ph47 1007? you couldn't use bao-dur's security or demolitions skills on missions? that weren't 'nuff to warrant bringing 'em? were there any real missions where you needed to use a workbench in the middle of a mission to upgrade an item, or were that simply something you did during the more quiet and reflective moments... following the battles and the clearing of levels? by having joinable npcs use workbench, there were far less need for you to be frugal with your own skill choices... by end of game you could make any item you wished to, no? there were no hard choices being made. is bad balance... is bad design... is just our opinion. HA! Good Fun!
  3. ok, maybe not a big issue, but it is an issue that we thinks has gotten far less attention than it deserved. in a crpg, character development is mas imporatnte? any disagreement? folks should get real benefits from choosing their attributes and skills and classes n' such. spending a point in persuade should be a tough choice, 'cause it is meaning that you had to forgoe spending a point in treat injury or repair. give self a 14 constitution should be as beneficial as giving self a 14 charisma and so forth. the more balanced the skills and classes and attributes is, the more enjoyable Gromnir finds the whole process of character development in a crpg... which also leads to more replay value we get from game 'cause we wanna play a different character to be seeing what we missed the firstest time through.. or the second time or third. now, we personally thinks that obsidian blew one such balance aspect by giving all jedi classes the same bab... but we won't belabor the point 'cause we think it highly unlikely that obsidian will change their minds 'bout bab progression for the pc version. however, it is not too late to discuss the workbench. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...99entry243399 for those who not know, the workbench is a feature of game that allows you to take generic "components" and turn 'em into useful stuff... like super groovy laser cannons... but to create items you needs to have a requisite minnimum skill level in... whatever. some items require high treat injury skills and other items requires high computer skills. the better the item, the higher the skill level required. akari says workbench is bugged... says that workbench is only s'posed to take the pc's skills into account when breaking down AND creating items. lab station is 'posed to work same ways... pc only. personally, we would like for the pc version of kotor2 to reflect the method that were intended to be in the game as it seems to makes skills choices more important... enhances that balance stuff we mentions earlier. 'course we realize that other folks likes the broken bench 'cause they is able to get access to more 1007 in the game. *shrug* you already know what Gromnir
  4. once again... "nevertheless, if the workbench IS bugged that does raise a question, namely: how will workbench work in PC version?" there were a couple things in kotor that were left broken in the pc version. will the workbench be one such thing in the kotor2 pc version? thanks for the reply. HA! Good Fun!
  5. "I wouldn't want to play Revan OR the Exile again. Not because their stories are over, but by the end of their games, they've discovered themselves, for good or for ill, and become important background forces in the galaxy." disagree on the exile bit. you not really have any sense o' finality... and you is left with more questions than is answered. is difficult w/o going into spoilers, but the exile's place in the galaxy is far less certain than revan's seemed at the end of kotor. am not saying that we would wanna play the exile character again, but if you thinks that the exile has discovered himself/herself in a meaningful way then we suspect that you played a different game than did Gromnir. is the good guys right 'bout you? is the bad guys right? (oddly 'nuff, the bad guys and good guys seem to be in agreement 'bout you... which makes your future even more mysterious,) is your companions right? *shrug* kotor2 is occasionally clumsy the way it handles story
  6. in a strange bit o' coincidence, we cannot help but share our recent experience with a home purchase. is part o' a business venture and we ain't sole owner, but the previous owners of the house had painted their exposed wood ceilings a powder blue color and they painted the fireplace black. ... was friggn' surreal. our partner is a builder and he had a crew come in and actually sandblast the ceilings. was surprised to discover that sandblasting could be controlled to such a degree as to handle the relatively delicate job o' removing a thin layer of paint from exposed wood, but it turned out better than we had anticipated. the exposed redwood now actually looks more like cedar. as to the fireplace... am not honestly sure what our partner used to remove the black paint, but we know it were gonna be a multi-step process. however, after first step we took a look at the fireplace and were kinda shocked at realization that the light black speckling that remained actually looked very nice... which were a surprise. we is gonna leave the fireplace as-is. the damned kitchen is a nightmare. gots this huge sub-zero fridge/freezer thing in a disproportionately small kitchen. to replace the unit with an equivalent appliance would be horrendously expensive. we want to put in a smaller unit, but the existing monstrosity is situated in just such a way that the space we gain is almost useless... and our partner is starting to get frugal on us. doesn't do us much good to have more cabinet space if he wants to put in crap... and while Gromnir is quite good at convincing folks to see things our way, we thinks we pretty much hit our limit when we got our partner to go in on the granite counter tops. the house were 'sposed to be ready for sale on december 23... but we knew that wouldn't happen. end o' january looks more likely
  7. is kinda a munchkin litmus test, no? HA! Good Fun!
  8. am still not sure 'bout this. figuring out hps is not as easy as looking at bab and saves in the feedback screenie... and we just had somebody check for us and they not seem to be seeing an increase in bab or saves for same battle in spite of fact that their pc were of differing levels... 8 levels different in point of fact. is possible that the enemies does get an hp increase, but if their saves and bab and other abilities not scale then it ain't really scaling to any real degree. could somebody actually check this? we not actually own game, so we cannot check feedback screenie to verify. HA! Good Fun! p.s. yeah, using a glitch to level up to 50 is cheating... but as this is a single person game, it not really matter as only person getting cheated is the person cheating.
  9. "You just have to be careful with the stripper lest it get all over the place." ain't that the truth. we dated a stripper while we were in college, and it were a nightmare. couldn't get rid of her. she would show up at our dorm room, and at our job and outside our classes and at football practice. what can we say? she were a "biostatistics" grad student with great legs... but she had issues. Gromnir were immature 'nuff at the time to think that dating a stripper were neato. sad thing is that we never paid 'nuff attention to her to even figure out what the heck "biostatistics" were... though we assumed that it were some very focused statistics thing that were applied to medical data. HA! Good Fun!
  10. I dunno, I don't play the rulebook stuff. What I can tell you is the enemy difficulty (even though lacking completely) scales with your characters. So lvl 50 or lvl 20, still takes roughly the same 2 seconds to kill an enemy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> are you sure about the scaling aspect? kotor did NOT scale... and what little experience we got with kotor2 suggest that it did not scale either (had to replay a signifficant portion of game, and a battle that were tough when we played dantooine as first chosen planet, were cake when we played third instead.) am just curious where you get your info. no doubt we could simply have looked at feedback screenie and compared to see if enemies actually were tougher (more hps and better bab) depending on our own level, but it did not seem important. HA! Good Fun!
  11. was that a joke? we has a hard time telling with some folks. akari seemed to be telling us that he not know how we got what we got, but that he wanted it one way, and the developer in charge of workbench wanted another... and we got something else entirely... so we still not know if final workbench were bug or purposeful. go figure. HA! Good Fun! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The first sentence of my post explains which part of that is probably the bug. The rest of my post was just useless exposition. -Akari -Edit: Or, to clarify, the way it should be is the way the designer wanted. It's his call to make. If my original post wasn't clear, I apologize. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Hm... I believe the bug is that it ever uses the other party member's skills at all, actually." not sound real certain, does it? add the rest of post and it seems to be explaining how we mighta' arrived at what we got. *shrug* nevertheless, if the workbench IS bugged that does raise a question, namely: how will workbench work in PC version? consular/watchman with good int is looking better and better for pc version. get us our repair skill early and then other skills late. ... no offense, but we thinks the workbench designer had the right idea... makes skills and int much more valuable if workbench actually worked the way it were s'posed to. HA! Good Fun!
  12. and yet, we suspect you will. for chrissakes, you got notions of quality wrapped up in your basic notion of what qualifies as cinematic. talk 'bout clueless. thanks for the chuckle though. and fact that you think that Gromnir has changed should clue you in on fact that maybe, just maybe, you is fighting the wrong battle... or fighting it wrong. most folks not change much... but your perspective of us has changed. would be good to ask self why that is. but that would require you to be open-minded... HA! Good Fun!
  13. "Fable ending is not just text over a picture, its a movie sequence displaying the ending mural of the chamber of Fate being zoomed out, pretty similar to all movies in Fable." cinematic=of or relating to movies. is cinematic. what part don't you get? obviously dak felt "mislead" by you as he were responding to your crak 'bout text over a static screen... but you just not want to admit.. not budge. "most gamers consider cinematic endings to be those of high production quality, such as Final Fantasy, Ninja Gaiden, etc...", high production quality is (as should be evident from words used,) a measure of QUALITY. is just... odd. we ain't changed... you just on wrong end of the ignorance stick so you feels vitimized. HA! Good Fun!
  14. "LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD" ok. on friday we will finally post a review... just not bothered yet. apologies to those who asked for a review from us... and is still waiting. however, until then, we simply note that obsidian did not "fall" or "fumble" at least as far as Gromnir is concerned... but much like the original kotor, there is more than a handful of "why the hell did they do that," kinda issues that prevent it from being... complete. kotor2 is a game that makes us wonder how good it could have been if not for some questionable design/story choices and a few irksome technical issues. no doubt the obsidian developers wait with baited breath for friday and Gromnir's review. ... no? HA! Good Fun!
  15. did not see not bolded... thanks for clarifying... though that still not make sense. obviously we agreed that the morrowind ending did not have a cinematic ending. Clearly we ain
  16. was that a joke? we has a hard time telling with some folks. akari seemed to be telling us that he not know how we got what we got, but that he wanted it one way, and the developer in charge of workbench wanted another... and we got something else entirely... so we still not know if final workbench were bug or purposeful. go figure. HA! Good Fun!
  17. your post must be missing something as your italics is quoting a line from a post made AFTER your bolded stuff. you is kinda bumfuzzled, ain't you. well, thanks anyways ace. HA! Good Fun!
  18. "It was an example that even text over an image wouldn't be cinematic. You APPEARED to be claiming anything that's not text/black screen is cinematic." based on what, ace? surely nothing Gromnir said indicated that text on black screen = cinematic. also, as the majority of the post you lifted that quote from were 'bout fable, your selective response were clearly misleading... whether you intended it to be or not... ace. aloha. HA! Good Fun!
  19. Gromnir makes a post 'bout fable... and you respond with the following: "If you have scrolling text over a still image that's not necessarily cinematic for a video game." if that ain't "misleading," then we don't know what is. and keep in mind that you ain't exactly engaging in dialectic neither. even drakron points out that your notions concerning fable is twisted, but you ain't budged. but yeah, we agree that debate with you is painful. HA! Good Fun! p.s. Gromnir is the guy who conceded that simply using scrolling text would not be cinematic
  20. "Or, and I may have simply overlooked them on my first pass, if we had the option to buy components somewhere on the cheap, I'd chalk it up to a balance issue." that would again destroy balance by making the pc's repair rating unnecessary. *shrug* HA! Good Fun!
  21. "I doubt LucasArts actually checks things outside not allowing Lucas main characters from being killed and the like." HA! maybe you should email a bioware or obsidian developer 'bout this... HA! Good Fun!
  22. this issue has been noted many times. is some disagreement as to whether it is a bug or a balance issue. personally, Gromnir never thought it were a bug. intelligence is still a relatively unnecessary attribute and repair would continue to be a largely wasted skill if not for the linkage 'tween breakdown values and the PC's repair skill rating. *shrug* as you might expect, no developer has chosen to comment on this oft debated issue. HA! Good Fun!
  23. if an ending were simply rolling text over a black screen we would not call cinematic... but that ain't what fable did... in spite of fact that YOU is the guy who tried to mislead folks into believing that it were. we ain't twisting. you is. HA! Good Fun!
  24. Gromnir played kotor2 on the xbox... but we will buy for pc. many of our problems with kotor2 will, no doubt, be resolved with a pc release. bugs can be patched on a pc release. slowdowns won't be a real issue as they were not on the kotor pc version. etc. many of the other problems we had with kotor2 were problems we already expected. we knew that balance would be screwy (just as it were in kotor,) and we knew that combat would pose no real challenge, and we assumed that party ai would still be a pain in the arse on occasion. am not seeing how we could be discouraged by xboxer comments on such things as we already knew such stuff were coming anyway. there is some story stuff that we found disappointing 'bout kotor2... stuff we didn't expect from obsidian developers. however, in spite of some glaring problems, kotor2 actually were very good from a story perspective. as we note already, Gromnir played the xbox version, but we not been dissuaded from buying th pc version. for persons who own both a pc and an xbox, we would highly recommend waiting for the pc release
  25. "Fable ending is not just text over a picture, its a movie sequence displaying the ending mural of the chamber of Fate being zoomed out, pretty similar to all movies in Fable. "It fits on how the game was narrated." thanks for the clarification... fable ending is as we expected and as we noted above. HA! Good Fun!
