"Mistakes" like Rotherham? Talk about ostrich approach. Sometimes "willful stoopid" is required to break the stranglehold of polical correctness and shake people out of their bourgeois apathy. Give any man a nice house and a secure job, and he's the Mayor of Rotherham. Snails and their houses.. J. am absolute certain we didn't mention rotherham in any post previous to this one. and the portion we bolded is exactly what we were talking 'bout. is such nonsense that allows folks to justifiable ignore you (and those like you) on the rare occasion when you happen to be fighting on the side o' right rather than stoopid. HA! Good Fun!

we were a second or two away from making an on-topic post in this thread, but common sense, inexplicably, took a hold o' us. the bat-crap crazies is even more stubborn than is Gromnir, so we decided the best way to win this fight were to avoid it altogether. the release o' poe will create a new kinda board havoc for a considerable period o' time, but at least it will be chaos related to games. sadly, the "usual suspects" will not starve in the absence o' plentiful fodder. they will hibernate, feeding on their own stored rage until poe is forgotten or until the next major world crisis hits. we hear that snails can hibernate for years. some similarly tedious obsidian posters is very snail-like... angry snails... angry and bat-crap crazy snails. HA! Good Fun! I find this post offensive on the behalf of people i do not know and whose sensibilities that i cannot possibly feel. Calling people bat-crap snails is quite problematic and in my opinion, zoophobic. This kind of trolling behaviour is not acceptable by any means and your post have been reported. Expect a displinary warning for a lack of tolerance and self tone-policing. There are people on these boards with thousands of posts, who display the same behaviour and resort to the same rhetorical tricks they used on similar gaming boards fifteen years ago. They engage in the same cut'n paste who-said-what monstrosities they have started and engaged in for decades. When there's no fodder, they will quibble over who said what, desperately looking for someone to argue with. Their therapists tell them it's better for their psyche to bash people around on gaming boards, than turning to alcohol or beating their wives. I have compassion for them. Deep down they really are quite sensitive. Society has treated them badly, and they need to lable people in order to feel better about themselves. Give them a hug them when you see them. It usually scares them away, as they're more afraid of peace than conflict. J. did you actual READ meshugger post? HA! Good Fun! I did. Maybe I saw something else in it? Or let's just blame the language barrier. No habla ingles.. works every time. Anyway, I think this pertains to the topic in many ways, despite your effort to write an Off-T post. It's counterproductive to lable someone as crazy just because their gut feeling doesn't jive with a certain political correct consensus concocted by a few people in the establishment and media. Worst case scenario - Rotherham. I remember Gromnir telling us he spent most of his life fighting "The Man". What happened? J. fighting the State on First Amendment issues is not the same thing as being willful stoopid. we don't see bogeyman lurking in every closet and we don't see evil and government being synonymous. most o' the great tragedies o' our time is the result o' ignorance and mistake rather than intentional schemes o' flagitious resolve. this thread and your posts is proof o' that, no? HA! Good Fun!

The box art for this game - am I dreaming?
Gromnir replied to Grotesque's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
one o' our favorite places in the entire world is gdansk. we spent near an entire summer there back... well, a long time ago. we were there for their first shakespeare festival, and we would love to return to see how much the event has grown. we also has a particular fondness for polish food thanks to a "grandmother" (not our grandmother) who literal invited us into her kitchen/restaurant for two weeks and taught us a thing or two. we like the bits o' poland we has seen. however, if we raged every time somebody on this board professed their distaste for all things American, we would be in a near constant state o' apoplexy. if the mods needed to censor every anti-usa post, they woulds need double their numbers. manifestediso's post seemed rather tame to us... particularly given what passes as run-of-the-mill in way-off-topic. sure, we actual like poland and disagree with his sentiment, but am doubting he agrees with every single Gromnir post either... hard as that is to believe. HA! Good Fun! ps as a complete aside, when we visited poland, which were admitted a couple decades ago, it were one o' the few places in europe where folks became more friendly when they found out we is from the United States. for example, we love spain and actually did some teaching in that country, but it were almost as if saying, "I am an American," were taken as an apology by the locals. -

It seems you have a short memory and forget what was discussion was all about. It sure isn't about dissecting what good sales means. Please allow me to help you. Gromnir, "why on earth would we care what tim cain thought about box art o' fallout 2? cain considers himself something o' a cook, yes? perhaps we listen to his opinion on the beer v. wine debates and for which food pairings he believes beer is acceptable as 'posed to gauche. box art?" I also suggest that we do not bore others on this matter anymore but feel free to talk out of your anus (like you did where I quoted you) to me in private so I can ignore you there. how on earth does your observations change anything? why should we care about tim cain opinion o' box art? your selective quote missed the following: "am not gonna open too many old wounds, but mr. cain's dealings with the "suits" is unlikely to be the reason obsidian wanted his very formidable talents at their disposal. YOU is the guy who brought up that fallout were a "smashing hit" and cain's interaction with the suits. well, cain's interaction with the suits has been, at best, the cause of considerable debate, and fallout were hardly a "smashing hit" from the perspective o' sales. box art is a marketing issue that might have some impact on sales, but what is you trying to make of it, or what is you now trying to backtrack away from making it? are we gonna need bring up ps:t to give perspective? we hope not. HA! Good Fun! -

good ratings don't mean good sales. didn't think we needed to make that point. as for sales, we already covered that point... and your cain fixation as well. for those folks with ADD, we will link once more. http://www.nma-fallout.com/showthread.php?152662-Briareus-speaks-out&p=3024645&viewfull=1#post3024645 HA! when we think o' fur-covered chairs/seats, we immediate conjure up images o' the willie dynamite pimpmobile. gonna needs watch us some willie dynamite when we get home. HA! Good Fun! ps that is indeed Gordon from sesame street playing the eponymous willie d.

Most probably you mean Fallout, where Tim was producer and lead programmer. For Fallout 2 he is listed as just lead writer. But then it was far less probable for suits to be involved with Fallout than for Fallout 2. You may find this presentation interesting, if you haven't seen it yet: http://www.gdcvault.com/play/1015843/Classic-Game-Postmortem The team behind Fallout with Tim Cain in charge once more began working on Fallout 2 shortly after the release of Fallout (which was treated during development by Interplay as a B product, pretty much under the radar) After Fallout proved to be a smashing hit, the suits at Interplay intervened and started to dictate how Fallout 2 should be like, even how the gamebox should be and look, contrary to Tim Cain's opinion on this matter and others. So the core people responsible for Fallout left Interplay only after writing the story in broad strokes. So I meant Fallout 2. I think I was pretty clear fallout was never a "smashing hit." is more bad history. it sold ok for its time and it were beloved by a small and ardent group o' individuals that included game developers. http://www.nma-fallout.com/showthread.php?152662-Briareus-speaks-out&p=3024645&viewfull=1#post3024645 HA! Good Fun! ps folks over at nma and codex has been telling themselves the same narrative for so long that it has become truth. get 10 or even 100 people to keep repeating the same myth doesn't transform the story into reality. the strength o' your belief don't make it any more real. is kinda amazing that even after briareus posted the above, few folks at nma and elsewhere bothered to change the narrative. weird. -
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/chilean-newspaper-pays-damages-exploding-pastry-recipe-injured-13-article-1.997044 oh sure, today it's churros, but tomorrow it could be jelly-filled doughnuts or danish. take a bite o' a hostess apple pie and next thing you know, your head is in another state. laugh it off then. no doubt the conspiracy experts got a theory. why on earth would we care what tim cain thought about box art o' fallout 2? cain considers himself something o' a cook, yes? perhaps we listen to his opinion on the beer v. wine debates and for which food pairings he believes beer is acceptable as 'posed to gauche. box art? It seems you slept in history class. Or you're just a plain glib. Or you never knew on which planet you live from the first place. But nevertheless, keep them coming! It's pure gold. history is not your friend, just as it weren't a friend of troika. *shrug* am not certain why crpg fans latch onto box art debates. for example, the ridiculous amounts o' text that has been devoted to the idiotic "ps:t box art killed ps:t sales" nonsense is enough to make us weep. ... also, your signature suggests that you may not be entirely objective insofar as this topic is concerned. just saying. ps just so Gromnir is clear, for the vast majority o' companions, we don't want their morality to be obvious. sure, maybe one of the eight is exact what he/she seems, but we would be mighty disappointed if the companions, taken as a whole, were so simple and shallow that we could divine the true north o' their moral compass following our first encounter with them. we would much prefer that after +40 hours of gameplay, we were increasing ambivalent regarding the right v. wrongness o' character actions. our desire for character complexity is a personal preference and not necessarily better than those who want simple. however, regardless o' whether is easy or difficult to plot character morality on a d&d style 4 quadrant graph, the absence o' d&d style alignment means that we must decide for ourselves how to define the character o' the characters, and that is a good thing from our perspective. HA! Good Fun!

our first reaction were to be dismissive? box art? however, if we had paid for physical goods, am betting we would expect more than a usps envelope with a cd case dropped into it. if you pay for something extra, then you got some justification to complain if the extras is not worthy o' the price. ... that being said, box art? HA! Good Fun! -
and unfortunately, the patch is not the anticipated balance patch. however, it does appear to fix most o' the lingering broken quest issues Gromnir experienced. HA! Good Fun!

its fat tuesday, so we is making something that makes us think o' new orleans: monkfish gumbo. however, we dislike okra, so *add shame-faced emoticon here* we is gonna use filé powder instead o' traditional okra. also, we do not have any fish stock on hand, so am gonna use vegetable stock and punch it up a bit. also, even though this is Gromnir's own recipe, and our recipe calls for 3 bay leaves, we always add 4. so, am guessing we ain't so much making monkfish gumbo as we is making a thickened monkfish soup. is easier to say monkfish gumbo. HA! Good Fun!

http://all-that-is-interesting.com/valentines-day-protests "A Japanese group called Kakuhido (roughly translated to mean the Revolutionary Alliance of Men that Women Find Unattractive) has promised to protest against Valentine’s Day and the “oppressive chocolate capitalists.” In this picture from 2012, a member wears a shirt that says, “Sex is Pointless.”" our favorite picture from the link is o' the japanese group. we go to japan almost once per year, but we never o' heard o' the group (no surprise there) and we suspect it is a joke. even so, humor rarely translates well, and it is possible that these guys is serious. regardless o' whether or not the humor is intended, we find 'em to be funny. also, am always disappointed to see that for many groups, protests require burning stuff. depends on the enemy. ogres or enemy riflemen who take the better part of an hour to make a single attack can be interrupted into impotence. however, even in 435, we can't manage to stunlock most casters as enemy casters, particular healers, seem to have more than a few near instant casting times. also, in hard mode, if we dedicate our party to interrupting one or two foes by ganging up on them with high interrupt attacks, chances are we gets our party killed mighty fast. even at present, interrupt is just not a practical tactic for most character builds when facing most enemies. interrupt is currently useful, but only 'cause it is broken. even so, it is only limited useful... which is kinda what it should be, no? when it is fixed, interrupt looks to again be useless, but we will need see. perhaps with dexterity being fixed so that it actual increases melee attack speeds, interrupt's impending nerfing will be balanced a bit by potential increased attack rates. HA! Good Fun!

rural frequent demands "long drive times." whether it be for work or entertainment, am not a fan o' bloated drive times. take 45 minutes to drive to work or similar time to get to a decent restaurant? am currently doing that and am getting increasingly sick o' it. also, we not have kids, but am recalling some o' our childhood memories o' what school bus rides is frequent like in rural settings... which is just one reason we didn't often go to public school. if we had kids, we wouldn't want them to need suffer some o' those interminable bus rides to get to a school with a mediocre rating... and we sure not wanna add extra drive time to our own commute to get such hypothetical kids to a decent private school. mood takes us and we wanna eat decent sushi or see a play, we not want it to be requiring significant planning. however, please note that Gromnir grew up on a ranch/farm at pine ridge. first 13 years o' our life were extreme rural. it were a frequent miserable existence, but that is 'cause pine ridge is having worse education, infant mortality, life expectancy and standard of living than does gaza (and many other places in the third world) so perhaps our pov o' rural were tainted. we did have a pony and a rifle, so it weren't all bad. HA! Good Fun!

When you were talking about the older games, you conveniently skipped over Icewind Dale 1 and 2. Those are also iconic IE games, had full party creation and zero companions (some joinable NPCs, but no companions), and both of them were created by Black Isle, the progenitor of Obsidian. It's not a necessity to have companions in an RPG, or even in an Obsidian RPG. Sure, it's an extra, I have enjoyed the company of Dak'kon from PS:T very much, he's my favorite, but it's still an extra. I, for one, would have pledged the same amount even if the pitch didn't include companions, and I'm amused when people complain about 8 companions being '"too few". If you ask me, 8 companions is 8 too much, and I would have preferred for the game to have more narrative content instead (locations, NPCs, quests). The second IWD's lead designer is the same person who's the project director of Eternity, a certain J. E. Sawyer. It's not like a companionless RPG is unknown to Black Isle/Obsidian. in not a convenient non-mention, but the reason not to mention is obvious: poe does have companions. "Project Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment." iwd games... didn't have companions. is not that iwd games had poor implementation o' companions or bad implementation, but rather no implementation. also, as complete on-the-rails crawls, with few incidental side-quests, there were also few iwd non-essential characters. *shrug* the iwd games were aberrations for black/isle obsidian, and the description o' poe don't exactly match iwd, does they? iwd were a great game in retrospect, but both iwd and iwd2 were developed as quick money grabs... that is not a criticism but simple reality. iwd had a relative inexperienced team and an Extreme aggressive development time-frame. game were meant to be released before bg2 (and ideally before diablo 2.) you makes a game such as iwd from start to finish in 10-12 months? that were ambitious, and it were requiring simplification compared to bg, or ps:t. iwd2 were kinda a more overt desperation move for interplay/black isle. perhaps iwd2 were necessary to stay afloat, but one reason we never got an interplay fo3 is 'cause they had to make quick development stuff such as the iwds. the iwd projects were serious streamlined, and companions were unnecessary. regardless, if poe had been described as a bare-bones, on-the-rails dungeon crawl with no companions, we would say that iwd and iwd2 would be great examples... and wonderful examples o' just how much obsidian could do when given such limited design scope. not really analogous though, yes? iwd is exceptions rather than the rule, yes? HA! Good Fun!

ok, now before you reject the idea, have you considered cleveland? according to fed cost o' living index, the average price for a four-bedroom, two bathroom home in cleveland is $64,993. sure, cleveland is frequent a punchline, but you got sports and entertainment options in abundance. another seeming odd option (Gromnir actual does a fair amount o' research on just this topic as we is always considering investment in residential real estate and we don't plan on retiring in CA) is idaho falls. median home values dropped considerable over the past seven years and is still relative low. winters can get a bit chilly, but they is dry, so if you is tired o' driving your car in snow, it is worth considering. yellowstone and jackson hole is not too far away, but absence o' a major university does result in some cultural options being absent. is kinda at opposite end o' spectrum from cleveland on our personal picturesque & scenic v. can-Gromnir-find-a-decent-blues-bar spectrum. 'course if you change mind about snow, there is buffalo... or utica. is hard to believe that anyplace in ny state has decent home values, but there is actual a few such places. HA! Good Fun!
