Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, Part 6

@Gorth am failing at the dreaded double-post, so apologies. ... is kinda munchkiny, but as were were discussing the ez overlooked, am feeling is worth mentioning a post release change owlcat made to angels and liches: they screwed spontaneous casters. the combined spellbook for the lich and angel works different for prepared v. spontaneous casters. a lich wizard has their spell selection caster level set as wizard level + mythic level. so a level ten lich wizard with three mythic levels is choosing spells as if they is level thirteen. ok, but what does that mean? a level ten wheezard may choose to learn arcane spells up to level five but a level ten lich wizard may learn and cast level seven spells. as you has no doubt noticed, a lich sorcerer also has their effective caster level increased, but they do not learn their ordinary arcane spells at an accelerated rank. at level ten your sorc may choose to learn spells up to level five. as a sorc you do receive mythic spells at an accelerated rate compared to a monk or cavalier, but unlike gorth's sorc, a wizard lich is likely gonna be casting their level nine spells 'bout the same time they reach level four mythic midway through act iii. just an fyi in case this change were overlooked or unknown. you are gonna be plenty powerful as a sorc lich and there is no need to respec, but it kinda sucks if you weren't aware o' the difference 'tween lich spontaneous v. prepared caster levels. heck, our anticipated lich (eventual redeemed as a gold dragon) is planned as a sorc, so is not as if am thinking going sorc lich is terribad. aside: the promancers has successful changed our mind. for our next wotr run am gonna indulge a romance. in spite o' all o' our complaints 'bout crpg romances and owlcat writing, am gonna take the promancer plunge. huzzah! even more improbable, am gonna romance camellia who is arguable our least favorite wotr companion, though is a close race to the bottom 'tween wenduag and camellia. 'course am going with the lich route, so.... HA! Good Fun! -

a considerable amount o' game hours elapsed before it occurred to us that the bane of spirit ring might be an effective counter to swarms. we had used the ring almost exclusive when dealing with incorporeal foes and didn't even consider the ring's impact on swarms. is possible you never used the staff in question as a melee weapon, so am understanding how is possible to overlook. kinda. ... am admitted still baffled by how multiple obsidian posters mentioned they were unaware o' aivu spell casting. as a spontaneous caster, her spells is memorized automatic and as such they tend to fill up her action bar. so... *shrug* depending on how you play wotr, given all the options, am s'posing overlooking something seeming obvious is the norm as 'posed to the exception. am guessing you ain't a compulsive hoarder. after the tavern defense we always have better than 50 vials o' the alchemist fire and we tote those around for the entire game even though we maybe use 'em during a couple encounters. maybe. why? 'cause. we also keep at least one torch in inventory as a crpg habit. is any number o' games wherein a torch is a puzzle solution or some such. our crpg hoarding is a kinda sickness and wotr animal companions mean am able to carry much useless baggage with us w/o it impacting encumbrance. 'course is moments such as the one you describe as to why am unlikely to streamline our crpg inventories in the near future. aside, by level 10 you probably acquired two heavy maces of fire and the blaze of disaster staff. maybe overlooked? chances are they were sold or are taking up space in the commander's chest. as a paladin he weren't gonna get too many o' those and not 'til relative late anyway, although a few o' the party buffs is quite nice. he won't even have access to the level ten silliness until the last few minutes o' the game. not a major self gimp by forgoing the spell book... not major. @Gorth the blighted treants is indeed vulnerable to fire, but to suppress their regeneration, any old fire will do the trick, including a flask of alchemists fire. not affected by the target's sr is alchemist fire. haven't tried, but am suspecting an ordinary torch would also work. am not recalling if all the trees has deflect arrows or is just the one battling the demons. regardless, is advisable to use glitterdust as it ignores sr and will possible blind the trees. similar, while the trees immune to mind effects, stuns and paralysis, they is not immune to prone. grease is another spell which ignores sr and it works 'gainst 'em, although on hard and above the reflex saves o' the trees were improbable good. a selective and heightened grease is as effective early game as it is late and deserves a place in your spell repertoire. our biggest hurdle with the blighted treants is our self-ownage as am ordinary using multiple animal companions and when making natural attacks you become affected by the tree's sap which will cause disease with an extreme high dc. good luck. worth noting how in spite o' the claim in the video, the capacity to auto-resolve crusade battle were already in the game before this beta patch and all the patch does is add an additional button in the crusade ui. am assuming if mortismal don't seem to know 'bout the current implementation o' the auto-resolve feature, other players could be unaware. though is possible mortismal is the last wotr fan to be unaware and Gromnir is repeating info everybody else already knows-- if such is the case am apologizing for stating the obvious. to implement the auto-resolve for tactical combats, hit the settings icon (little cog) to the right o' the "skip day" button on the world map ui. doing so reveals three options including the auto resolve o' tactical combats choice. observation: don't be concerned 'bout getting struck with the rng bat or similar as you may opt-out o' auto resolution both before tactical combats begin and after they conclude. as such, if you do not like the outcome o' an auto-resolve battle, you may chose to fight such conflicts manually. am not certain what maths owlcat uses to determine outcomes, but if you got better than numerical parity with foes and a decent number o' hospitals, you ordinarily auto-resolve w/o any losses which results in a minor but noteworthy gameplay time savings. am also gonna observe how the woeful undervalued enemy armies with their mage generals capable o' casting fire or lightning do suffer from this feature as those foes is treated as no more powerful than any other strength six, eight or whatever army you might encounter. use auto-resolve to dispatch the lightning hurling glabrezu near greengates makes the battle pleasantly anticlimactic. anevia were not a mystery to us, but we did have pnp experience which colored our pov. 1) low-level pathfinder is stoopid lethal (edit: there is a kinda spoiler if you read the anevia entry in the following link) the world wound incursion is the intro adventure to an mythic rules adventure path. to deal with the inherent power imbalance, in pnp you effective start with a party o' seven as the usual four players is joined by anevia, horgus and aravashnial (not in owlcat's wotr... well, sorta, kinda,) to deal with the inherent lethality o' low-level pathfinder combat wherein a single goblin with a sharpened stick or rusty kitchen knife may kill any party member on a crit. anevia, exists to babysit your sorry arse (particular if you are playing core or above) until you level up at least once and is less likely to statistic face a probable one-shot death. 2) is not atypical for important story npcs in crpgs to be immortal. we were knowing avenia were integral to the basic pnp wotr story, so it didn't shock us she were uncontrollable. being not only immortal but more powerful than any other individual in your starting crew, anevia could solo all the combats you encounter, rendering those combats meaningless. removing anevia from your control means you is less likely to use her as an unkillable tank, although such is exactly how we would use her if we did an unfair run. is probable best to think o' the shield maze following post level two as your actual tutorial. aside, wotr rats only attack in swarms and is likely you will now need pay some kinda karmic comeuppance for the disparagement o' the tiny but ferocious mammal. your rat observation will metaphorical come back to bite you. enjoy. am finding our background selections is skewing complete practical 'cause am never having experienced meaningful in-game choices related to backgrounds. your deity choice provides a small handful o' additional dialogue options throughout the game, but you aren't even getting that much reactivity from background selections. as such, as am ordinary playing in turn-base, pickpocket is our assumed background choice, but the reality is we don't go the pickpocket route anywhere near 100%. initiative is extreme important particular as you push the difficulty slider to the right, so it is tough to do objective better than pickpocket, but again, is not as if we always chose pickpocket even if we would be hard pressed to identify a better option for most builds. in fact, and am not sure why we hadn't done sooner, give a melee focused sosiel one level o' instinctual warrior feels like kinda a no-brainer as almost his singular shortcoming is his relative bad initiative. also, for a party built to proc attacks of opportunity, it would be better to put a bardiche or falchion in sosiel's hands and the level o' instinct warrior means sosiel is getting martial weapons proficiency in addition to the major initiative boost. admission: we have never gone full rogue or mostly rogue for a main character build. knife master and thug is great dip choices, but rowdy is representing the only archetype which interests us for more than one or two levels. am not suggesting rogue is bad, but am only saying our personal interest is limited. that said, a dual-wield ranged character is gonna be best achieved with a not rogue-- sohei, slayer, ranger or fighter (or combination)? you are kinda forced to choose throwing axes and with all the size boosting options available in the game, it makes sense to develop a strength focus on your axe hurler. am knowing sohei sounds like an odd possibility, and is kinda munchkin, but sohei weapon training and flurry includes the thrown weapon category. sohei/__________ is likely gonna represent whatever is the most op axe thrower in the game. regardless, we wouldn't put too much thought into backgrounds 'cause owlcat didn't. if is the crimson banner, then am advising saving the 300k, or whatever ridiculous amount is required for purchase. with the banner equipped, crits by and against you is confirmed. alternative: the treasure islands vendor sells +100 potions of bless weapon. unfortunate, the drezen cleric only sells ten o' the scrolls. seelah also has access to bless weapon, but unless you took abundant casting, you won't have many casts per day. one reason am always making lann a divine hunter is not only 'cause he gets the celestial velociraptor murder machine with unlimited smites, but 'cause o' domains. iomedae domains is not amongst our must haves, but am thinking glory, particular for lann is underrated and we likely add one additional domain via the impossible domain mythic. in any event, as a lann divine hunter is a spontaneous caster, his domain spells is added to his pool o' spells as 'posed to needing use a domain slot as does a cleric. functional results in a whole lotta casts o' bless weapon per day. in any event, am not a fan o' the crimson banner as is as likely to result in pain for the user... and is sooper expensive. HA! Good Fun! -
richard lester three musketeers (1973) and four musketeers (1974) remain our favorite adaptation o' the dumas musketeers books. raquel welch didn't have a major role in the films, but she were memorable. am knowing anything cosby is verboten these days, but am not too proud to admit we enjoyed mother, juggs and speed (1976). not saying the film is making our best ever list, but it were fun. kinda gives you perspective on the times, which for Gromnir don't feel all that long past. HA! Good Fun!

not all cuts o' meat are the same. is beef, pork, lamb? "giant roast" is not enough to give good advice, but in general, the tougher the meat, the more am recommending low and slow cooking as 'posed to convection. in theory a convection setting for eye of round should work well as long as you cook on a rack and get full air circulation resulting in a oven-seared roast, but is so difficult to get appropriate collagen breakdown on those leaner cuts. the closer to hooves and/or head for beef, the less likely am recommending convection. prime rib? convection would be our preferred setting in part 'cause you get more even cooking. reverse sear is our approach to most roast beef, and am going low temp and longer cooking times. (edit: added underline, 'cause the rack is a vital factor. convection is cooking with a fan and so if you have a roast in a pan with juice and a crowd o' veggies cooking simultaneous, then you are serious undercutting the value and the point o' convection.) HA! Good Fun!

'ccording to axios, the smoke plume lasted for "several hours" on february 6 and were the result o' an intentional burn 'cause o' concerns about possible explosions. so maybe not the tolkienesque hellscape being suggested? also, while is way too early for people to be confidently judgey as to causes and blame, the same axios article observes that federal investigators in an admitted abbreviated and quick initial assessment determined a single axle on a single train car were to blame for the derailment, so the lexx parade o' horribles resulting from biden efforts might be a smidge misguided. as usual, is probable best to wait to see if the accident were indeed the result o' a single wonky axle and if negligence were involved in missing the danger. however, also, am gonna suggest for anybody actual interested should read the referenced (edit: added link) lever article instead o' being satisfied with newsweek. the ECP issue alone appears multi-layered with a whole lotta blame to go around. AP Exclusive: Transport safety rules rolled back under Trump 'ccording to the lever article, the trump admin used bad math to justify their termination o' the ecp requirement. "But a 2018 investigation from the Associated Press revealed that the Trump Transportation Department had flubbed its calculations. By excluding the most common type of train derailments, the government’s analysis omitted at least $117 million in estimated future damages when it revised the rule’s potential benefits to justify its repeal. "The agency acknowledged the error and issued a technical correction to its analysis, but said that the expense was still too great to reinstate the ECP brake rule." the thing is, the biden administration made no move to fix the errors attributed to the trump admin. has been a couple years o' biden and the ecp issue coulda' been reexamined by biden. hasn't happened. "According to federal investigators, the derailment was caused by a mechanical issue with a rail car axle. Ditmeyer and two other experts told The Lever that ECP braking probably would have reduced the damage caused by the derailment by bringing the train to a halt more quickly and stopping all of the cars simultaneously." "probably" is a notorious weasel-word but in the absence o' actual facts is no doubt warranted. that said, ecp sounds like a no-brainer particular for trains carrying hazardous materials. unfortunate, the hazardous designation has been almost utter emasculated and the last two administrations both dropped the ball on ecp regardless. the article from lever is not short but it does a better than fair job o' presenting issues. norfolk southern and other carriers spent many millions of dollars lobbying in an effort to fight common sense safety measures, which is unfortunate but hardly a surprise from corporate entities in the business o' making money. is the reason why every american school kid learns 'bout the triangle shirtwaist fire, though upton sinclair's the jungle remains on too few high school required reading lists. worse, at least a couple Presidential administrations failed to address what looks in hindsight to be multiple potential safety issues at least tangential related to the ohio derailment. same old same old. edit: the ohio train derailment story we have been following Charges dismissed against NewsNation reporter who was arrested at East Palestine press conference "DeWine said Wednesday on “CNN This Morning” he has “never had a problem” during any of the news conferences he’s held during his tenure as governor. "“This reporter who was reporting live from the back of the room never should have been asked to stop, never should have been told to be quiet,” the Republican governor told CNN’s Don Lemon and Kaitlan Collins. “That was a big, big mistake. And you know, the person who did that, I’ve explained to them and I’m sure that he’ll never, never do that again.”" dewine is purposeful misrepresenting. major general john harris o' the ohio national guard instigated the incident, but were not mere asking the reporter to be quiet. also, there were multiple law enforcement fails after the general were no longer involved. 'course the law were on the side o' the reporter, so... https://apnews.com/article/john-harris-ohio-entertainment-7fc5a99bef73ffccce2597760d63e6cb https://vimeo.com/user155050674/review/797528737/06a0b2702b another video o' john harris ... am knowing is petty, but we cannot help but observe fran dewine's not so flattering dress is absolute screaming for a john waters critique. the train derailment were big news... on fox and friends. somehow the accident and the cleanup efforts were all the fault o' pete buttigieg. other than fox, the accident were covered national and were a top story at cnn and npr when we checked yesterday. can't speak for other sources as we didn't check save for the washington post with didn't give it much attention. the lack of fatalities (unless you count fish) reduced the impact of the story in a 24/7 news cycle. there was a mass shooting at msu yesterday and following the chinese balloon incident, people are inordinate interested in ufo sightings, particular when the US military is shooting at such objects over kanada . the indefinite long-term consequences o' the train crash also make it difficult to report useful and lurid info which titillates as the dangers, particular after evacuations, is less immediate life-threatening and more you might die of cancer at some point in the future, maybe. HA! Good Fun!

as noted, field of dreams had already been mentioned. ... yeah, the maudlin label gets applied to any sentimental film a person didn't like, but you are gonna need defend costner's other baseball film from such accusations and you may find it to be no easy task. our opinion 'bout field of dreams is even two measley scenes with burt lancaster is worth at least one viewing, but save yourself 100 minutes and instead listen to cat stevens. (edit) and HA! Good Fun! -
we got a family member named amelia. obvious is shortened to amy, yes? no. meal. meal? explain to us how that sticks. not just meal for elementary school or summer camp, but meal for decades? not just childhood bullies but friends and relatives to this day call her meal and nobody acts as if such is weird. @Azdeus of course the crumbsnatchers pick up signals from adults. kids ain't born knowing the rules o' bigotry. is learned behaviour. the thing is, children is very observant and they see far more than we ordinary give 'em credit. also, most adult bigotry tends to be transmitted with whispers, sneers and anonymous internet posts 'cause is social unacceptable to overt bully others. kids don't restrain in the same way as does adults 'cause they don't understand what is social unacceptable w/o specific parental, teacher or legal consequences. kids, particular in groups, is vicious not 'cause they is broken or 'cause they were raised wrong but 'cause they is kids. w/o parental intervention, lord of the flies is not just metaphor. absent immediate parental monitoring, children are intimately aware o' the punishment being doled out by their peers, and is therefore perfect rational for them to be cruel to the weak and different. https://www.simplypsychology.org/kohlberg.html#:~:text=Kohlberg is not easy to think o' innocent kids as being vicious. particular for parents is gonna be a natural reluctance to see their children as capable o' monstrous (but normal) childhood behaviour. don't forget it is possible to be simultaneous innocent and cruel. HA! Good Fun! ps am recalling one kid we coached for football. he had asperger's and were social awkward to a comical degree. he also had a curious speech pattern. the kid were constant ridiculed and we were kinda shocked other coaches and teachers mostly ignored the way this kid were being treated by fellow students. am suspecting the educators also found the asperger's kid to be annoying but is only a guess. is not the parents o' the other kids who taught them 'bout asperger's 'cause is doubtful more than a couple parents had any inkling o' autism spectrums. the kids saw this dude were different and they punished him for his awkwardness. converse, for mock trial coaching am recalling one o' the worst bullies we ever encountered were a girl who identified as masculine; am having no idea what were her sexual preference as such never came up in conversation. the thing is, in the particular california neighborhood where we were invited to help with a mock trial team, the girl were not ostracized 'cause she dressed like one o' the guys and adopted stereotypical mannerisms. in fact she were popular and she were horrible unpleasant to a few o' those who were less popular, but only when she thought the teachers wouldn't notice. curious, we were able to put a stop to the asperger's bullying as were a football esprit de corps philosophy which the head coach subscribed. brotherhood o' the locker-room and all that. unfortunate there was little we could do 'bout the mean girl other than quit 'cause the a$$bag teacher who we were s'posed helping let us know the girl's classroom behaviour were not our business. am thinking we chose wrong by not quitting, but given time and availability concerns, the school were not gonna get another volunteer such as Gromnir if we abandoned the project. we would have been punishing all the other kids to make a point?

unnecessary serious response: the baby don't care 'bout our gender notions, but if he/she is lucky they will be stuck with the moniker for decades. name your daughter "phillip" to announce to the world how enlightened you is maybe grand and perhaps makes parents feel proud, but am thinking everybody forgets just how cruel other kids can be. am needing repeat this 'cause is forgotten, but kid brains is different than an adult's and not just 'cause they is smaller. you don't have a full developed brain until late teens or early twenties and before that your sense o' right v. wrong is... different. sure, once phillip attends college, most o' the mockery will have ended, but am not sure why anybody would put their child through unnecessary pain and anguish. step one: make the world a better place so that daughters named phillip won't be the object o' scorn and ridicule. the world is not yet a better place. HA! Good Fun!

did we miss the part where @ShadySandsidentified the gender o' the next member o' the sands family? ... the wisdom o' taking advice 'bout baby names from those frequenting a computer gaming message board is likely too obvious to need be stated, but just in case. thankful, am suspecting mrs. shady would put the kibosh on suggestions such as ozymandias or melissan. tin cup and bull durham? is two we ain't seen mentioned and am admitting is both decent movies which were better 'cause o' costner. a perfect world is likely our favorite costner; is not as if we dislike costner as an actor. am not sure how he became a punchline 'cause is more than a couple decent costner films. hardly our favorite actor, but we don't avoid a movie when we see him included as part o' the cast. costner also narrates a video for our favorite national park. we did mock the previous patch assertion that tb combat freezes had been addressed. the thing is since then we have been seeing a resurrection o' an old tb bug which has sosiel becoming stuck in tb combat. the old bug were related to a two-handed weapon haver crossing paths with another party member in tb combat, so sosiel were likely gonna present the glitch as he wields a glaive and has relative bad initiative. regardless, am back to a situation where in tb combat sosiel all too frequent loses an attack and tb combat hangs 'for 'bout twenty seconds while sosiel and his mount jitter ineffectual. treasure of the midnight isles extra level(s) and l00t, not to mention a considerable amount o' time elapsed making so there is all sorta guides and suggestions for companion and party builds, has no doubt made a difference in the perceived difficulty. the midnight isles vendor alone means your entire party is gonna be outfitted with +6 stat boosting belts and headbands which was not the case when we first encountered the quasit. am recalling our first time we were caught off guard by the wail o' the banshee thing which insta killed nenio and 'cause o' unfortunate rng, did serious hurt to others. 'course sosiel were one level shy o' having mass heal. the necromancy blast which near crippled our effort presented us with a noteworthy wtf moment. for a few party configurations, quasit presents particular challenges, and on unfair those succubus archers dish out murder.
