How about a new genre of isometric?
Gromnir replied to UmarSlobberknocker's topic in Obsidian General
gun, with occasional music. wiki entry for plot: The novel follows the adventures of Conrad Metcalf, a tough guy private detective and a wiseass, through a futuristic version of San Francisco and Oakland, California. Metcalf is hired by a man who claims that he's being framed for the murder of a prominent urologist. Metcalf quickly discovers that nobody wants the case solved: not the victim's ex-wife, not the police, and certainly not the gun-toting kangaroo who works for the local mafia boss. HA! Good Fun! -
resurrected for a particular curious trumpian alternative facts addition "Trump's view that ice caps 'setting records' baffles scientists" arctic cap is doing a wicked witch death scene impression but for trump... HA! Good Fun!

does not compute. browns fan and michigan fan? is not what we would expect. regardless, am old enough such that we still hold fielding yost's bigotry 'gainst the school. the three things fielding yost, the son o' a confederate officer, hated most, in order, were losing, blacks and catholics. took decades for the michigan program to shake off the foulness o' yost, who is nevertheless regarded as a kinda patron saint o' michigan football. HA! Good Fun!

The joys of government work. And being the low man on the totem pole. the irony being the lowest portion o' a totem pole typical is commanding the most respect... or such is our understanding. is not a plains indian tradition, so am getting our info from a couple "native american art" classes we took. such poles is often telling stories and is 'read' bottom-to-top. most important characters is closer to ground where is most visible and recognizable. 'course we know exact what you meant so is just pointless interjection on our part. HA! Good Fun!

no mention yet o' the magnum pi reboot? http://ew.com/tv/2018/01/26/cbs-magnum-pi-cagney-lacey-pilots/ our underdog pick for 2018 magnum is omari hardwick, not that we has seen his name mentioned. much like tom selleck, mr. hardwick were a college athlete 'fore he were an actor, so play a former navy seal is less a stretch than most possible names we will see attached to the role. has done an admirable job with smaller movie roles as well as in the starz show, power. am thinking filming for 2018 power season has already wrapped, so might be an ideal time to make the jump to major network stardom. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=17089240 oh, and cagney and lacey is also getting reboot if you didn't follow the ew link. HA! Good Fun!

don't expect major limits or options based on such poe choices. at one point we suggested a catchall priest option with no specific deity in part to deal with the minor and major deity questions facing priests post poe. didn't get much traction. at the same time, developers has made clear they don't wanna put limits 'pon player choices 'less there is compelling balance reasons to do so. developers is gonna leave up to you to explain class choice conflicts or inconsistencies... which with a bit o' imagination, is never particular difficult. expect no more than limited recognition o' the vast majority o' poe choices and you is gonna be facing less disappointment. HA! Good Fun!

given where obsidian is in the development cycle, and recognizing josh's unexpected appreciation o' the sophomoric kinds o' humor, am not gonna be surprised to find one or two curious deadfire uses o' double-entendre involving "pirate booty." a room full o' game developers suffering unremitting sleep deprivation, hopped up on their stimulant o' choice, has been known to make curious individual and consensus decisions. could be a few pirate booties. HA! Good Fun!

why do people keep repeating this? when deadfire were first announced, Q1 o' 2018 were the estimate from obsidian for release. well, guess what? Q1 ends march 31, 2018. games is almost always released on tuesdays, so for Gromnir a smart-money bet for deadfire release, previous to actual release announcement, woulda' been march 20, 27 or april 3, 2018. release is only unexpected early if you were expecting a delay, and a delay became increasing unlikely as we got closer to the target release threshold w/o an announcement of delay. as such, april 3 is not earlier than reasonable expectations. now perhaps you got insider info which suggests the development is in disarray and the only reason obsidian is sticking so close to Q1 release is the developer needs immediate money. we personal got no such info. perhaps you look at beta condition and wonder how a release date of april 3 is possible. *shrug* regardless, given the initial target for release and the absence o' a delay announcement, the actual release date obsidan has announced is exact what Gromnir woulda' guessed... which is the only real unexpectedness. HA! Good Fun!

well, peter jackson is only in his mid 50s. HA! Good Fun! -
it might be a surprise to folks, but a room full o' lawyers also does the trick. the mafia were largely emasculated by RICO and federal prosecutors. sure, the mafia still exists, but is only 'cause the fed doesn't care 'bout 'em much anymore. ... might be one o' the few real world problems largely solved by throwing money and lawyers at it. HA! Good Fun!

first song came to mind: simple coincidence as was actual thinking what an underrated album were presence as 'posed to any kinda fit for deadfire. edit: 'cause europe doesn't want you to hear led, you get nsfw datsuns: warning: not joking 'bout the nsfw. after a moment serious reflection, for fit we would likely go with a BSG (2004) bit o' bear mccreary. black sails theme obvious works too. however, for the numerous beta chicken littles, we propose the following: HA! Good Fun!

am thinking areas is likely designed with door blocking in mind. go back to the poe beta and recall the final skaven cultist battle. walk into room and door shuts behind you. is a number o' such poe battles where doorways ain't available. however, doorways is also part o' player expectations, and is an easy way to adjust the difficulty o' battles w/o resorting to the difficulty slider. no doorway advantage is gonna result in many players wondering wth is wrong with the developers. pull back to a doorway and nevertheless get steamrolled by a bunch o' xvarts or xaurip is gonna have folks coming to the boards in droves asking why the obsidians made doorway tactics useless. also, am gonna note we personal used doorway tactics more than once, and were glad for the option. fight ogres, particular ogre druids, in the endless paths level 3 and such encounters is a major leap in difficulty from level 2... or levels 4 or 5 for that matter. rather than developer need complete redesigning encounters or levels, the availability o' choke points allows a player to functional self adjust the difficulty o' encounters for non pivotal/major battles. there is good reasons to maintain the current viability o' choke point fighting. 'course, am hopeful the developers is equal predictable in their exorcising o' chokepoints for many unique battles. player wanna depend on doorway tactics for +90% o' the game is a choice, but is resulting in rude but predictable awakenings for those battles which force a change in tactics. sometimes predictable is a good thing. player won't necessarily know which battles will make choke point tactics impossible, but he/she knows it is gonna happen. player expectations is met while providing unique challenges. good. HA! Good Fun!

finally. were wondering when somebody were gonna get reasonable. HA! Good Fun!

is pretty much exact according to schedule. deadfire beta, which some folks were wondering why it were taking so long to be starting, were initiated almost the exact amount of time 'fore the scheduled target release o' poe. on schedule. poe had a longer beta than has deadfire, but such were 'cause o' a delay, a delay which, if poe patterns were maintained, woulda' already been announced. might still be cause for pessimism, depending on your personal bent, but for a more optimistic tilt, one should recognize how deadfire, at least from obsidian viewpoint, is going according to plan, and it seems to be following same patterns as did poe planned development. as such am maybe not party hat and h00kers optimistic, but am optimistic. HA! Good Fun!

as we mentioned in the sawyer tweets thread, this deadfire announcement comes almost exact relative to release as the poe announcement came relative to release. we assumed if a delay announcement for deadfire were gonna occur, using poe as a guide, it woulda already happened. announcement o' release date thus seemed imminent if obsidian were following patterns. our poe announcement guess were based on a guess o' an internal obsidian target o' the last tuesday o' the first fiscal quarter o' 2015, with actual slippage to first tuesday o' q2-- april 1, 2015. by the end of the first Q appeared to once again be the obsidian goal, so our guess woulda' been, as previous, first tuesday o' Q2-- april 3, 2018. so rather than unexpected, this announcement is pretty much exact as expected. freaky exact as expected. obsidian predictability is, ironic, the thing we see as unexpected. HA! Good Fun!

for frame o' reference, is our recollection the pillars of eternity announcement o' delayed release came 'bout 1.5 months after the initial beta build release. the actual release date for pillars, march 26, 2015 were announced 'bout January 20, 2015. if deadfire is on schedule, and deadfire follows same announcement pattern as poe, then one would be expecting a release date "soon." big if. HA! Good Fun!

played kotor2 for the past few weeks. is easy to forget how good it were for the first 2/3rds. slowed a bit on the deadfire beta as am waiting for the next update. over the holiday we bought a number o' games, including our long delayed purchase o' tyranny. can't seem to get motivated to start a new game. HA! Good Fun!

but you might not have read the article if they worded it different. in a similar vein, we do mourn the absence of gene hackman from hollywood. tommy lee jones is a guy who appears to loathe hollywood and humanity in general, but am enjoying him as an actor. is too bad hackman couldn't channel his inner curmudgeon as has mr. jones and squeezed out a few more films. HA! Good Fun!
