  1. an inquisitor of gorum, with 3ish levels o' thug, is 'bout as fitting as we can imagine as a divine focused follower o' gorum in kingmaker. a greatsword wielding inquisitor o' gorum with the stern gaze intimidate bonus, coupled with dazzling display, shatter defense and cornugon smash has you striking down cowards and those fleeing battle with devastating effect. play human and take heavy armour proficiency at level 1. sure, warpriest might be a bit more op, but as for fulfilling the role o' a devotee o' gorum, the inquisitor/thug is gonna be tough to surpass the admitted subjective measure o' "fitting." HA! Good Fun!
  2. the feyspeaker "fix" is borking Gromnir's current play. we made harrim a feyspeaker. 'course now the main attribute for the class has been changed. ten charisma is kinda why we switched harrim from cleric to druid. ten charisma for a 1.0.6 feyspeaker is even worse than a ten charisma cleric as spell dc for feyspeaker is now charisma based and spell memorization requires 10+charisma level. am lamenting absence o' pillars-style respec. HA! Good Fun!
  3. Except that the flasks only do 1 damage if you're playing on anything above normal. I'm not "whining", there are legitimate problems with the game but you're too blind to admit it. Yes, that Pathfinder wasn't designed for crpgs. Imagine my shock. fixed the game current plays like a kinda mash-up o' toee and bg. not much depth, but it has breadth, and similar to toee, it is doing a fair attempt at replicating pnp rules in a crpg, with some notable fails. kingmaker flanking is busted kinda the way attacks o' opportunity were utter borked in toee. so same as almost all characters in toee were having reach weapons, kingmaker non-casters should always take at least one level o' vivisect alchemist or rogue to exploit flank. pathfinder bug swarms is s'posed to take 2x damage from aoe damage spells (but don't) and the upscaled crpg versions is comical resilient. xp awards is somehow wonky as we got two different games going with different main protagonists who have completed approx same number o' quests and killed same number o' foes, but one character is level 3 and the other is almost 5. etc. kingmaker needs a couple major patches, but is typical o' crpg releases nowadays. oh, and kingmaker is no more hardcore than recent obsidian crpgs. kingmaker is wonky. busted arse mechanics which work fine in a pnp game but don't translate to crpgs is not hardcoreness. first three levels o' a d20-based game result in a high amount o' dm fudging in pnp as those levels is extreme lethal due in part to rng and crits. no live dm/gm in kingmaker, so instead you got reload. at the same time, the kingmaker adventure path were designed for a party o' four and there were no reload. make work for a crpg with party o' six has not been smooth. to put mildly, balance is current fubar in the crpg version and terrible balance is not hardcore so much as it is dumb. also, those first three or four levels o' d20 tend to feature a high dose o' player impotence, which is not so much hardcore as is a weird attribute o' the d&d rule system. why? why make low-level failure a feature? when obsidian made a d&d game which started level one, they created a tutorial which would quick advance a player through the initial levels. obsidian were smart 'bout using d20. kingmaker is not so much hardcore as bad design and predictable fail o' pnp-crpg translation. if game sudden gets easier after level 4 or 5, that ain't hardcore, it's stoopid. etc. kingmaker is benefiting a fair bit from bg and toee nostalgia. nothing wrong with that. even so, much oh what is bad 'bout kingmaker is getting reimagined as positive for no other reason than the same dumbness were part o' older crpgs, particular d&d crpgs. am hopeful owlcat gets a second shot at a pathfinder adventure path. the game does suffer from the inherent limitations o' trying to translate pnp rules to with literal dozens o' seeming pointless spells and feats n' such and wonky implementation foibles such as flanking. even so, am thinking there is much potential for another pathfinder adventure even though we would personal rather see original material as we have already played though most pathfinder ap. at the moment, kingmaker is a bit o' a hot mess-- long on potential but short on execution. 'course we felt same way 'bout toee and bg1. HA! Good Fun! ps to address another repeated observation in this thread, am gonna suggest purple prose weren't deadfire's big writing problem. excess o' narration and exposition were a problem. too much o' obsidian explaining what were happening with gods and events beyond what were observable to the player via in-game encounters and brief visual cutscenes. show, don't tell. first rule. if all deadfire narration were written in a style akin to a journalist as 'posed to a creative writing undergrad, such narration would not have sudden improved. woulda' been worse.
  4. winston replace fitzpatrick were exact part o' the plan as well? isn't as if winston could play safety, corner and lb for tb. two sacks and two ints later, winston did not seem to be the solution. am feeling a bit bad for gruden. every time mack has a big game (which has been every game so far) folks question how gruden and the raiders coulda' let him go. mack had one sack, caused one o' the winston interceptions and were drawing double-teams all day. unfortunate for the raiders, after they paid carr, they simple didn't have the money to pay mack what he wanted. if anybody is to blame for mack leaving the raiders, it is aaron donald. donald's contract were a death knell for mack in a raider uni. too bad 'bout eifert getting hurt again. looked ugly. pleasant surprise: colts and texans game has ended up being amazing. andrew luck appeared overwhelmed in the first half... ends up with 389 and 4tds. HA! Good Fun!
  5. am not certain what difficulty you are playing, but it is a good idea. crpg, particular with reload, is a whole different animal than pnp. a living dm may adjust difficulty as needed. a living dm is gonna play the boss battle smarter than computer ai. etc. if kingmaker encounters were same as pnp, there would be widespread complaints o' game ease. does owlcat need adjust the difficulty o' a few encounters? yes. definitely. even so, am thinking compare to pnp stats is not a valid comparison. when happs bydon attacks the trading post at start o' the game, he should have a group o' three bandits with him and he has a mere 11hp. using pnp stats, the first post tutorial noteworthy encounter would be over before the player even had a chance to draw weapons as the four bandits would likely be dead with the initial alchemist fire blast. ain't fair to compare to pnp. HA! Good Fun! Yes, DM is gonna player the game smarter than AI, that's why you need to adjust the difficult accordingly when it comes to PC. But simply giving every enemy bigger numbers is just lazy and probably the most boring way to do it. Bandits with 30+AC at level 5 or 6 sure make the encounter harder, but not in a challenging way. Give them new abilities, have more different kind of enemies, not some bandits whose only trick is auto attack and only hard because the devs give them 10 extra AC and AB. it's a big game. easiest way to make an encounter more difficult is to add enemies and boost stats. suggest there is better ways to make encounters more challenging is axiomatic, but am doubtful it is a practical solution given the number o' encounters which would need be fine tuned... and genuine smart enemies is gonna be even more frustrating for players than is buffed foes. the player has access to potions and scrolls and is possibly playing a party o' six when the pathfinder adventure paths is balanced for a party o' four. player gots advantages to deal with mob and stat bloat o' foes. but smarter? look on this board alone and see how many folks is familiar with pathfinder take on d20? you got a large % o' players unfamiliar with a rule system. so give 'em bg kinda straightforward encounters makes sense... since bg and the like is where many o' your fans is coming. as to dex-based characters competing with str... doesn't actual work out the way chill and others suggest. to benefit from slashing grace and/or similar such, the player need wield a one-hand weapon with a single hand to gain benefits and cannot use with flurry and whatnot. so compare to a str focused character who is wielding a big base damage or high crit weapon with two hands and getting 1.5x str. the dex-focused player loses sooner rather than later when comparing damage output. is a flaw in the system, made worse with ranged. HA! Good Fun!

  7. Well the rule of thumb is that at character creation one should if at all possible strive for at least 14 in Dexterity so as to get the AC bonus from that. dex is a great defensive ability score. unfortunately, it is almost universal a bad idea to build a dex-based combatant. however, if kingmaker plays similar to pnp pathfinder, o' the given available classes, the archer inquisitor is your bestest option for a high dex, ranged combatant. for almost all pathfinder builds, ranged weapons can't keep pace with melee and dex melee is always inferior for damage output compared to str builds. archer inquisitor is a notable exception to general rules as most o' its damage potential is resulting from class abilities which ain't complete nullified vs. boss critters and whatnot. kingmaker inquisitor is possible even better than pnp as the skill list is reduced in the crpg: a 14 int human inquisitor will be able to get virtual all the lore, knowledge and talky skills in addition to athletics and persuasion. with kingmaker point-buy, an archer inquisitor with a starting dex o' 17 or 18 is highly effective in combat and is a good choice for rp oriented folks. am suspecting a few folks will be unfamiliar with inquisitors. is not a d&d class. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gFK_A8YV84hMUMXjxvCLFTnGO2GF7CMQiGIYyAQ2kns/edit# apologies as the linked is slightly dated and a bit o' a long read. haven't looked at the kingmaker feedback at other sites, but am gonna assume the inquisitor option is being overlooked. HA! Good fun!
  8. This is my experience. I don't mind the difficulty spikes so much as the lack of communicating to the player what's going on. I'm also getting a greater appreciation for the Pillars series quality of life changes to the formula (fast walking, no equipment weight, no fatigue mechanic, etc.) next to bugs, d&d legacy is the issue which most diminishes our enjoyment. yes, this is pathfinder and not d&d, but pathfinder were initial 3.5 d&d and kingmaker is clear attempting to be loyal to pathfinder rules. kingmaker embraces a significant number o' pnp mechanics, stuff already mentioned earlier, which has never translated well crpg. no-win situation for owlcat as less than faithful implementation o' the minutiae would disappoint the grognards and purists, but same faithfulness frustrates folks such as Gromnir and others. 'course the second biggest issue for Gromnir is familiarity. am knowing the adventure path which is the basis for kingmaker. we know the villians and we know the locations and we know all the secret stuff. we know the rushlight tournament events and how we should build characters to deal with encounters. sure, some stuff in the crpg is changed from the pnp and is causing surprise... not always good surprise. the spider swarm nonsense were not in the pnp version and the kingmaker spider swarms is not behaving as they do in pnp regardless. dunno. will need to get a bit further into the game before we decide how we feel 'bout kingmaker as am ambivalent. kinda a tough break for owlcat as there were three sandbox adventure paths from pathfinder and only kingmaker were a practical option for development. http://paizo.com/store/pathfinder/adventures/adventurePath/skullAndShackles kinda obvious why skull and shackles weren't a good choice. another pirate crpg? too bad too as skull and shackles were arguable one o' the better pathfinder aps. ... if kingmaker does well enough to result in a sequel, maybe shady gets lucky and owlcat does carrion crown next. lots and lots o' vampires. HA! Good Fun!
  9. well, the real problem with these hurricanes and storms ain't the flooding... it's the democrats. "U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday disputed Puerto Rico’s official death toll of 3,000 from hurricanes last year and accused Democrats of inflating the figure reached in an independent academic study." an obviously less smart and completely biased paul ryan doesn't dispute Puerto Rico death toll. HA! Good Fun!
  10. Novelist Who Penned 'How To Murder Your Husband' Essay Charged With Husband's Murder *shrug* HA! Good Fun!
  11. It is the locals responsibility. FEMA is not going to rebuild the government and infrastructure. The government is. and it is the duty and responsibility o' fema to assist. goes w/o saying that the character and quality o' assistance demanded will depend, in large part, on the local government's capabilities following a disaster. drop off water at an airport, which is quite possible remote and complete inaccessible due to the kinda flooding one would expect from a cat 5 hurricane, is not meaningful assistance. pickups can't reach 'cause is no drivable roads? so why not use helicopter? maybe 'cause fuel is often more precious than water in such circumstances. spend limited time and fuel moving water when could be transporting people to the few functional hospitals, or rescuing people from imminent drowning? is a disaster for chrissakes. private contractors fulfilling half, or less, o' their food/meal deliveries is gonna result in obvious shortfalls, shortfalls which gifted is dismissing as the responsibility o' puerto rico to supplement? is a freaking island, devastated by a historic hurricane. the local government were not capable o' rebuild infrastructure w/o assistance. coordinate the assistance is the rasion detre o' fema. https://www.google.com/search?q=maria+puerto+rico+devastation&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjumcbNtbbdAhVPHDQIHSFOBrkQ_AUICygC&biw=1280&bih=642 following the hurricane, many roads and bridges is submerged or is utter destroyed. assume some runway is gonna be accessible to vehicles is suspect following the linked devastation. but heck, is puerto rico's responsibility. fema got the water delivered, and it were pr's responsibility to drain flood waters and rebuild roads so they could get to the water. no doubt those ten "dudes" and their pickup trucks were sufficient to handling the job o' infrastructure rebuild. is mindboggling this is proving problematic to comprehend. HA! Good Fun! ps update: 'ccording to multiple articles, the water were deemed unpalatable by locals-- literal could not give it away. in any event, am not gonna blame this one on fema or feds as they seemed utter clueless as to the existence o' a problem. water were delivered. water were received. water were not delivered to people in need. as far as we can tell, fema were never informed that the water were unpalatable. "bad water" is a thing, but when you is desperate, water is either potable or not. have personal consumed some pretty foul smelling/looking water once or twice in our life, and we were glad to have it. get somebody to make a determination as to whether is safe or not, then if folks would rather suffer w/o, is all on the people refusing, or so is our opinion. regardless, am gonna concede that this seems most like a near complete local fail. even if fema delivered so-called bad water, they were not informed o' a problem so they could fix.
  12. huh? fema coordinates efforts to assist state and local governments. is precise 'cause puerto rico could not handle the problems o' maria that they needed assistance. perhaps gifted doesn't believe provided assistance need be meaningful or effective? provide water is all well and good, but then fail to provide any means o' transporting the water to people who need it is gonna be a concern for most reasonable people. coordinate with private contractors to deliver food, but ignore when those contractors fail to deliver even half o' the meals they agreed to provide is not particular effective assistance. recognize that state and local governments have responsibilities to aid citizens is axiomatic. recognize how a disaster o' the scale o' maria could prevent puerto rico from fulfilling their responsibilities should also be axiomatic. HA! Good Fun! ps once again, peculiar reading by gifted.
  13. repeating self. there is no question what is fema's role. they coordinate efforts. fema doesn't have resources to deliver food and water. they cannot repair power grids. they do not build or repair or whatever. coordinate. HA! Good Fun!
  14. fema is habitual underfunded and understaffed, which is curious considering how frequent is the controversies surrounding disaster relief in particular. am actual sympathizing with fema folks as they is constant complaining 'bout they is not receiving necessary support to do their job, but when disaster does strike they gotta project confidence and then inevitable shoulder blame. thankless. water and food deliveries to puerto rico were the source o' major problems post maria… back when the death toll were still s'posed dozens. blame on puerto rico "government" is suspect as puerto rico infrastructure were fubar for some considerable 'mount o' time post maria. puerto rico needed fema aid in the first place 'cause they could not handle relief efforts w/o federal help. and is not as if the army or air force is making all deliveries o' the relief supplies and goods. for the most part, private contractors handle delivery and distribution efforts. the noteworthy maria controversies were how those private contractors failed and how fema failed to respond timely to those failures. "delivery" is a term o' art in business and might mean any number o' things. provide goods at the contractor warehouse? deliver to a specific location? leave on a runway far removed from anybody who might need or use the good? in time o' crisis, one expects such details would be worked out in an expedited fashion even if some nincompoop didn't get details straightened out ahead o' time. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-puertorico-meals/fema-contractor-did-not-deliver-millions-of-puerto-rico-meals-lawmakers-idUSKBN1FQ2OP can find literal dozens/hundreds o' such stories from maria alone. fema has been gutted o' good people more than once and the new administration has done a poor job o' draining the swamp https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/27/dear-president-trump-its-time-to-drain-the-swamp-a-little-faster-commentary.html https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2017/09/meet-the-new-swamp/540540/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/behind-the-chaos-office-that-vets-trump-appointees-plagued-by-inexperience/2018/03/30/cde31a1a-28a3-11e8-ab19-06a445a08c94_story.html?utm_term=.0a366fb52de1 fema didn't deliver water or food or repair power grid post maria. fema organized such efforts, and they did a poor job. one hopes recent lessons will encourage a more effective response. also, am knowing how sensitive the current president is to tv coverage, so unlike remote puerto rico, a mainland usa hurricane disaster will be getting 24/7 coverage from every major news organization. no doubt since fox and friends will be discussing relief efforts this time, the administration will devote more attention to keeping up with fema reports. HA! Good Fun!
  15. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/trump-9-11-story-722430/ am honest having forgotten how trump claimed to have put himself in harm's way and helped clear rubble post 9/11. ... HA! Good Fun!
  16. huh. swedish elections is a bit different than we expected. kinda disappointing. HA! Good Fun! I actually consider this a supreme form of election, atleast we would know that the people that are up for election really want to be there, and not just for the easy money. It would also motivate politicians to keep investing in healthcare and social security. Kind of hard to work when your arm has been cut off. sounds crazy, but wouldn't be any worse than most current systems. perhaps have candidates face a 50/50 chance o' either hand-to-hand combat or chess, with death being the result for the loser in either case. would almost necessarily get smart, dangerous and complete committed candidates. HA! Good Fun! How about Chess Boxing? image And to top it all off in the comic... had no idea... but admitted, we were never a big wu-tang clan fan. strains credulity to take the endeavor serious, but would be hard to imagine a more impressive adversary, political or otherwise, than some kinda amalgam o' paul morphy + muhammad ali. HA! Good Fun!

  18. hmmm. california is sharp divided 'tween red and blue. am loathing wiki, but their linked page is easy-to-read. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California%27s_congressional_districts#Current_districts_and_representatives http://www.latimes.com/projects/la-pol-ca-california-congressional-race-rankings/ we watch very little tv, but am suspecting in some places in ca, the local political ads is non-stop and fierce. sure, the senate and presidential elections has, since the 90s, been forgone conclusions and commercials is thus a waste o' money. lack o' ubiquitous national election commercials might be one o' the few positives we see 'bout ca political landscape. the House elections has also become a bit predictable, but is not 'cause is uniform democrat. that said, it is understandable how in the bay area hurl is not gonna see political commercials, and ca might seem uniform blue from his neck o' the woods. HA! Good Fun!
  19. apologies for double-post. as a kid am recalling the green, cylindrical, cardboard ajax cans which were, for some peculiar reason, called bleach by folks. nowadays, the powdered ajax does contain bleach but the thing is, the ajax products o' our youth contained ammonia. am not certain there were enough ammonia in oldie ajax to be toxic when mixed with bleach, but am well aware one should never mix bleach and ammonia. https://www.google.com/search?q=mixing+bleach+and+ammonia+death&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS699US699&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwifnNPX-bDdAhXTMX0KHdNaCwgQ_AUICigB&biw=1898&bih=955 can't help but wonder how many folks combined oldie ajax with bleach over the years. no doubt the lawyers helped put an end to the mistakes. HA! Good Fun!
  20. you posted here, not "the dude." do not conflate his error with yours. and we has already humored you... multiple times. what you linked is funny only in same way were the scene from full metal jacket. difference is stanley kubrick were trying to be sardonic. point to video gamesque, real-life, killing skills as a reason for judging kewl is misguided and creepy. only thing funny 'bout your post were the fundamental miscomprehension. based on the comments you include, charles whitman and lee harvey oswald should have same right to claim arbiter o' kewl. video-game esque rifle skillz? is guys who served in the military and had excellent marksmanship. so what is different? killing a terrorist as 'posed to harry walchuck? might be a generational thing. lord knows if our father or grandfather ever caught us joking 'bout the kewl factor o' shooting a person with firearms, we woulda' got a whooping when young and a severe admonishment even when older. heck, if we ever made jokes 'bout killing fauna we would have received a beating. our father didn't serve in combat, but uncles did and they were similarly angered by those who would marginalize just what it meant to take the life o' another human. most (admitted not all) the combat veterans we has known seem to understand that killing is a possible necessity, but once removed from combat, it ain't funny or a benchmark o' kewl. provisio: have had to interview enough military guys as part o' work to know behavior while serving is often much different than personality and behavior once home. ardent, church-going, mediators, who never utter an unkind word, admit how while in iraq or afghanistan they couldn't finish a sentence w/o vulgarity... and far worse. can't use civilian, peacetime standards to judge combat troops, but injurai, presumably, don't have such an excuse. if injurai is current deployed, then perhaps he deserves a pass for finding funny that which should be seen as dark humor. speaking o' humor, am thinking we has gone far beyond mere humoring. am not certain how many more explanations you require, but subsequent requests for enlightenment is likely to be ignored. HA! Good Fun!
  21. and am thinking you defense o' what you refer to a "cheeky endorsement," is obtuse. you mighta', from the start, admitted your Jarvis repost were silly/stooped humor, but instead you defended the implausible and untenable notion that Jarvis were not speaking to the sailor's killing prowess with his, "if the first person to ever 360 no scope a terrorist," comment. is literal thousands o' military personnel defending Kaepernick in social media and elsewhere. https://www.businessinsider.com/veterans-support-colin-kaepernick-2016-8 only one example o' an article. coulda' chosen any o' the multitude o' endorsements to make a point that serviceman, who has put their lives on the line in defense o' the Constitution, is supporting kaepernick. instead you choose cheeky, an endorsement which specific identifies the sailor's killing prowess as reason why the sailor's opinion o' kewl should be accepted.... 'cause is a funny thread. you presumably thought jarvis' comments were humorous as you posted in the funny thread. we has now stated how such is only funny in same way as were the black humor o' the scene from full metal jacket. myopic at the least. disconcerting and disquieting? perhaps. however, once again, am appearing to have reached a dead-end. HA! Good Fun!
  22. "if the first person to ever 360 no scope a terrorist..." the arbiter o' kewl is being specific acknowledged for marksmanship and his capacity to kill... which is both weird and disturbing as, once again, such traits put him in company with the aforementioned luminaries mentioned in the fmj video. the guy is a seal and went through profoundly taxing training... am gonna assume as a given that he has diligent and honorable served his country and is deserving of much respect. even so, the notion that the sailor's lethality makes him a judge o' what is kewl is downright creepy... which were the point o' the full metal jacket scene. HA! Good Fun!
  23. *chuckle* yeah, we got it, but you do realize the same reasoning has Charles Whitman and Lee Harvey Oswald as arbiters o' kewl. capisce? HA! Good Fun!
