  1. Again: they did not 'cave.' They fixed something that they would not have allowed in had they noticed it the first time. Evidence: their statement that they did this, and the fact that they are and have continuously been openly but quietly squarely on the social justice side of the GG debate. Counter evidence: Their reasoning doesn't completely match that of Firedorn.
  2. Utter nonsense. As long as people stay away from twitter and don't engage these crazy people directly then there is no reason to ignore it here. They won't ago away simply because we pretend they don't exist. Yes...actually...ignoring something is the best way to make it disappear. By trolling it here you're doing nothing except garner it more attention. Again that is just pure nonsense. Problems don't disappear because you ignore them. They crazy twitter people don't read this forum and as such us discussing it here won't matter to them. Also don't refer to me as a troll. This will either take off because of Twitter or it won't.

  4. i dont think so. That would be HUGE. Its a major part of the main story and the sidequest in act 3. Also you cant speak of the "next" thing because they didnt remove the "transmisogynistic joke", or did they? I heard they just replaced it. The joke was removed and a new joke took its place that made fun of the situation. Hopefully this won't escelate to the same level of outrage that the previous one did.
  5. Heh, well it was fun while it lasted And I would guess that GOG is going to wait until Obsidian has finished sending out hotfixes for this patch before they roll out their own.
  6. Mine got changed. The character with inflated stats is all normal after patch. I think he meant the stat changes that Obsidian made to the characters, reworking their statline to make them more useful.
  7. And that culture would be? You do understand that the joke made no mention of transgender in any shape or form? Why on earth would I admit to having made a mistake when I stand by everything I've written on the subject up to this point? Well except for that one jibe.
  8. I tried making a more tanky melee wizard, doesn't really seem to be worth it. You can stack effects to get a very high deflection going, but it will require frequent rests to keep it up. There are some high level spells that would be worth using in a tanky build e.g. Torrent of Flame and Citzal's Martial Power (No idea if that one is still in the game). You will also have to keep casting draining spells to keep your endurance up. So overall it's doable, but high maintenance. I would think that the best melee wizard would be one focused on two hander and going for flanking attacks or stand behind your fighters with a reach weapon, probably not ideal since they would get in the way of your spells.
  9. The lesson to be learned here is that Twitter users are largely insane and should be considered carefully before interacting with. Judging by the subsequent immature, heated and self entitled attitudes we got here yesterday.... One could say the same about gamers Nosmirc. Oh how I detest that term... There is no such thing as gamers (at least not in the way that it has been used the last year or so), but there is such a thing as people whom play video games. People can and will behave like **** no matter where you go, it's simply easier to do so on the internet.
  10. Really? Having developers feel like they have to perform more self-censorship is a good thing?
  11. I don't really blame them for the PR statement on this, even if I generally dislike PR nonsense. Had they been honest it could possibly have been used against them. Given the circumstances this was probably the best we could hope for.
  12. Actually that doesn't seem to have been the case. So, highly unlikely. To turn the question around "Gui, did it ever occur to you that they asked the backer for a change because of the outcry? Inconceiveable, I know." Obsidian choose what they percieved as being the lesser of two evils. I just hope that they made the right choice, business wise.
  13. If you have an item that gives you a +1 to int and one that gives you a +2 to int, then the +1 bonus won't be applied because of the +2. Bonuses to the same stat do not stack. Having multiple items that give a bonus to the same stat is meaningless in this game.
  14. A bug from what I can tell. They are getting paid, but the UI isn't being updated to show that. Aye, so far the stronghold hasn't impressed me. As examples: I haven't had any interesting visitors as of yet and the dungeon seems rather pointless, mainly because of the former and their ability to escape.
  15. Her, bigot. And she posted it. On twitter. Someday I'm going to meet a slightly intelligent bigot. It has to happen eventually, right? You could try looking in a mirror, but you might be dissapointed. Sorry, I don't normally resort to jibes like that...
  16. Being adamantly set against censorship goes with my profession, thank you very much.
  17. Why are you attacking him? How am I attacking him? I'm just annoyed by the way Cyphon misrepresents the situation. "He obviously did not intend it as just a harmless jest" How do you know that? Seemed more like smearing to me. And if you're annoyed then perhaps it's time to take a break from this thread?
  18. I would claim that it's rather obvious they made the request to have it changed because of said wackos, if for no other reason than to hopefully end the pointless crusade they were being subjected to i.e. they would probably never have asked Firdorn had the crazies not noticed it. That they allowed him to make a jab at those that started it is most certainly welcome, especially since I don't see how the crazy people will be able to try and force the removal of that memorial as well.
  19. Who knows, probably slipped through the cracks. I thought for sure they would have asked it to be changed prior to release. Seems likely that they simply didn't think it was offensive enough to warrant a change or otherwise not in line with the tone they wanted. Obviously they were mistaken. A sad way to learn such a lesson.
  20. I never thought that they were going to force his hand given that he did pay for his ingame message and there may have been some legal issues if they did, at least not just remove it without his consent. I do still have a complaint though, why try to pass this off as having to do with upholding a literary standard? Seeing as the request for a change was brought upon by the "scandal". Just be clear about having presented him with a choice and him having chosen to change it. Don't start bringing up silly notions such as tone when it clearly wasn't out of place when taking the other memorials into account. I guess I just don't care much for PR nonsense, even when it's nessecary. And it really is just sad that was ever an issue to begin with and the request for change ever had to happen like this.
  21. Aye, when all is said and done he did what he thought would be best for Obsidian. He took the high road and was still allowed to get them [The twitter whiners] back for having started this whole thing.
  22. No, forums have never and will never represent the opinion of the majority. It can point in the right direction.
  23. Frankly more people should ask themselves this in this particular situation. And if they have any answer aside from some variation of "Nothing, really" then they should really reconsider whats going on People shouldn't have found this [The joke] to be an issue to start with, but that clearly didn't end up being the case.
  24. Actually, there was a choice. They asked me if I wanted to change in light of what happened. I chose to change it so that they can concentrate on the game instead of this PR nightmare. They weren't going to change it, they asked ME if I wanted to. I can find another platform to write my controversial crap, and I will. They, on the other hand, did the right thing and allowed me to decide the fate of the epitaph. I chose to turn into something that made fun of the bitch-bastards that were complaining. They went above and beyond what I would have expected them to do. Now that we've got the real facts from Firedorn himself can we move on? Sadly that only makes it appear less likely that Obsidian had a standard they wanted to uphold and more likely that it was changed because of the ****storm. So the author says that he is happy with the way Obisidian handled the complaints, that they went beyond his expectations and you're still blaming them? Hell, I've seen countless posts stating that Obisidian didn't care at all for its backers using Firedorn as their #shield to justify their ranting. Firedorn just proved them all wrong. Since their reasoning behind the change doesn't seem to fit with his, then yes I am blaming them for not being entirely honest. At least from what I can see. I want Obsidian to be consistent when it comes to this. They stated that it didn't live up to their standards, okay. He stated that they asked him if he wanted to change it because of the uproar. That's not the same reasoning. I am obviously glad that he (And Obsidian as well) got the last laugh. So? What does that have to do with me?
