  1. At least Dougie has learnt not to wear his Joo Janta Peril Sensitive Sunglasses®.
  2. Won't they just get bored when they mash the campaign monsters to pulp? And then when they (inevitably) attract the attention of some Duke of Hell out for an easy kill with his minions and plagues, won't that get a tad boring? Or Tiamat wants a new gold dragon skin rug? (It is a Gold Dragon, right? There the only ones that normally go around in human form, iirc. All the others hate humans: too beneath them to fraternise.) I guess they have to get it out of their system, in order to move on. (Your character indicates a much more stable personality, though: maybe these others need to express themselves this way to work out some issues? ") Maybe the GM will let you play a big bad enemy to tackle the

  6. Day-OOS ex. That bits the easy bit, the next bit is what has even the post-doc scholars in perplexed disagreement: mak-in-a is how I'd say it. Not sure about your "do", maybe "day" would be better, as in afternoon delight?
  7. ... Or, the developers can make a multi-level game, that appeals to many audiences, just as the Pixar films have done in that medium, and just as Shakespeare managed to entertain everyone from the street urchins to Queen Elizabeth with the same play. It's just fast and cheaper to produce developerrh
  8. The reticule is just a representation of the character's skill; you'll note it tightens faster according to the character's skill in any given weapon you are using and need to aim. But it's really nothing else than that. All three games work under the same principle: the players need to use their skill (player skill) for any movement and actions associated with targetting and shooting at an enemy, and all the outcome of the actual hits are decided by rolls based on the character's attributes (PC skill); the absence of a reticule doesn't really change that for Morrowind. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, but the fact that the reticle exists means that the game is a hybrid of a shooter, since there isn't much use for graticules on a m
  9. I liek the way your artistic mind demands to interchange the various homoptical characters with each other. :D
  10. Just have ye olde helmet shoppe just on the outskirts of town, before the battle zone. Speaking of battle zones, I think that is a good way to help delineate "safe" and "unsafe" zones, Wals.
  11. Well, no suprises for meta. The installation company (NTL, a division of Telewest) arrived duly between the scheduled hours (after a slight confusion trying to find my address because it had been only partially recorded, despite my double checking with the operator at booking time); prompty enough to determine that the house was not served by the cable (even though I had already checked on their website to ensure that it was), so I had to chase them up to discover that the area was due for infrastructure upgrade "next year". So, there goes the

  13. Sure. It's actually becoming a lot easier to upgrade PCs as time goes by and they become more closely aligned with consumer electronics (like VCRs), rather than escaped science projects. For example, to change BIOS settings you only need to boot into the BIOS menu (a function keypress on the boot screen), rather than physcially move tiny conducting jumpers on the motherboard (which was the method only ten years ago). The PC is easily the most complex piece of equipment EVER, so it is no shame to be daunted by the possible mis-steps you might make; just be prepared (read the manual / instructions FIRST) and be careful (static is a HUGE killer of components, for example).
  14. You still roll a randomiser, right? The GM doesn't just go on gut feeling whether something succeeds or not, yes?
  15. Guys, I am moving my internet access to the new premises tomorrow (I have been told "AM", which is anytime between 8am and 1pm GMT ), so I will hopefully be back online tomorrow post meridien. Wish me luck.
  16. Sony have just hilighted an easy h4x0rz0rz for every WoW (or any online gaming franchise) script kiddy to use. Can. Worms. Floor.
  17. If it's important to you, you might consider learning a bit about it. There are numerous magazines that step the general readership through upgrading a PC, from a complete novice that might want to remove some background resource-hogging Windows services and tweak the Windows graphics control between "performance" and "effects", to the more experienced who might want to modify their PC case with a dremel power tool or add water or liquid nitrogen coolling ...
  18. I not wrong in this case because hell kitty is using an exclusive definition to make a fallacious conclusion. * All dogs are mammals. * No cats are dogs. * Therefore, no cats are mammals. This is called an Aristotelian illicit major logical fallacy.
  19. Why do you agree with the same assessment of Vampire and not of Morrowind when both need the player to aim and the character to hit? The player *has* to aim at his targets in both games, then expect the character to hit based on its own skill set. ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm glad you asked. I have seen an

  22. News [security] Tuesday 8th November 2005 Sony's rootkit DRM comes under legal attack 5:32PM An Italian online civil rights organisation has filed a legal complaint against Sony's use of rootkit technology in the DRM protecting a number of its music CDs. The ALCEI-EFI (Association for Freedom in Electronic Interactive Communications - Electronic Frontiers Italy) filed its complaint on Friday to the commander of the Guardia di Finanza, Colonel Umberto Rapetto, alleging the technology contravenes Italian legislation. It claims that knowingly distributing code which damages computer systems is subject to penal law and an 'indictable offence'. It claims that Sony's actions to offer a patch and instructions on how to remove the software component, which installs itself without the express consent of the user, reveals the company's complicity in the 'crime'. It says it wants to unmask those behind the decision to adopt the technology and use the case, if it goes ahead, to set a public precedent that this kind of distorted copyright protection is unacceptable in Italy. Sony has so far been quiet on the matter, but has faced a chorus of criticism over the technology. Computer Associates has said it has instructed its security products to remove the software where found. Russian security firm Kaspersky is also categorising the software as 'spyware'. The controversy first came to light when a researcher discovered a hidden 'rootkit' on his computer which cloaked monitoring files that formed part of Sony's copy-protection technology on its music CDs.
