  1. English loves her words Swallow whole, ingest, digest, But never excrete.
  2. That's probably more a wisdom thing, rather than intelligence: I'm sure I could still read Elvish, for example, but deciding which way was up when under the influence of The Bends (a similar experience) is definitely difficult.
  3. Or, you could use a browser like Opera, or one of the many extensions to Firefox, to change the basic stylesheet of the site to your own design.
  4. Is the little cat the Espeon? Kewl!
  5. I leik puzzles.
  6. They have that in common with Kiwis.
  7. If all economists were laid end to end, they would not reach a conclusion. George Bernard Shaw You could always use them for firewood or as a nifty food supply ...
  8. I agree that the inventors / authors deserve reward for their idea. I disagree that this is happening in a fair and consistent manner. The quote that you have commented on refers mainly to games developers, who do not (under normal circumstances) retain control over their IP. (Recording artists get residuals, but this is not generally the case with games developers, AFAIK.) I think the main problem is that the system is broken; it is skewed by the middlemen who are trying to maintain a business model that clearly doesn't work anymore, if it ever did. I think that technology can save the situation (and will, eventually, as any interference can only cause delay) by allowing greater visibility / granularity of micropayments for use (something that has been, until now, completely infeasible and frankly science fiction). Once there is a robust virtual economy, using secure credit transactions, then the need for (or rather, job description of) a publisher will recede into virtual redundancy. I don't pirate. I don't condone pirating. I just don't think that the views you are extolling are realistic, practical or useful. They are idealistic and na
  9. I am surpirsed that my three years of high school German actually helped me get into that role play !... I would have thought I was lost to the language of Deutsche Vaterland ...
  10. Children need to be protected from those pervert pederast predators. Why is a picture necessary? Just have a ficticious virtual presence, not an actual real life one. P
  11. I hope it inspires people to stop putting bombs in public places to blow up innocent third parties in the misguided hope to get a royal box in heaven with 77 virgins.
  12. The author is forgeting that some people operate on a level outside (above) the stream of consciousness: this is how Imet my partner, we both started talking about our meta-behaviour in the dating ritual ... then again, she is older and smarter than me ...
  13. I don't know; I oftentimes become caught up with "petty" things and they seem very important to me for a moment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are we still talking about Christianity, or is that another thread? Yeah, seek the truth, man!
  14. There you go again, taking all the fun out of the argument.
  15. Personally i blame you for that. " Now with regards to the man of the cloth thing, can't you just be undecided on those questions and instead do what you intend to as a minister? What is the role of a minister? Is it just to quote scripture every Sunday? I thought it was a guidance counsellor position. Do you want to change the church form with in or is it helping directly that appeals to you. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Um, it is kind of both. As a minister, responsibilities would encompany tending to the flock, sermons, a lot of counselling, and helping others. However I would never feel comfortable teaching something I myself cannot wrap my head around, and as much as I would like to do both of the things in your last sentence, I cannot teach something I don't understand. Also lack of faith. Basically, at the moment, I feel more of a Deist (as Baley suggested), than a baptized Christian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jer 17:5 (NIV) This is what the LORD says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Prov 28:26 (NIV) He who trusts in himself is a fool... Hmmm, doesn't appear that scriture is much help in this dilemma. I would put it to you that you haven't spent nearly enough time researching and thinking about this stuff. Also, if you think you are going to make a lucrative career out of psychology, then you ought to get used to the priest's stipend ...
  16. Good story. Good person. Good man.
  17. I like traffic lights.
  18. It's not a review, it's a command.
  19. :"> " Maybe you should conduct the game in English (or French or some other, non-native language that imparts the necessary gravit
  20. I love to hear European girls speak.
  21. If The Grateful Dead or any other artist gives permission for his/her work to be freely downloaded, then it isn't piracy or theft to take advantage of the invitation. But just because one group wants to give freebies doesn't mean that the public has license to take the music of other groups without permission. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never suggested that the existence of the GNU GPL is a licence for wholesale pirating; I was simply challenging your definition of "piracy = bad" being an axiomatic and universally accepted truism, which it is not. Hence my summary: And you even restate my comment, highlighting a differnt pov: Have you not heard of shareware? There is a sizeable market for beginners to ply their wares (see what I did there?) using the "shareware" model: i.e. free to try and please contribute something to the developer if you like it. As much as you seem to be trying to discount this business model, it has already proved effective. Maybe you've heard of Id Software? How about Gearbox? And yet prohibition ended in 1933. And the Netherlands has a lower percentage of her population addicted to drugs classified as "illegal" in other Western democracies, than those same democracies. Go figure.
  22. It's a bartering site: someone saw how clever I was and bought the website domain to sell it to me. (Well, that's my story, anyway.)
  23. I know; as I've commented previously, Pokemon (from your descriptions) is pure game theory (the stuff they use to work out war and other nifty logic problems).
  24. :"> Just doin' ma thang.
