Do YOU Want a PNP?
If you are interested in starting / GMing / participating in a PnP session with fellow forumites, may I suggest determining the: setting (e.g. Forgotten Realms, Call of Cthulhu, etc) rule system (GURPS, d20, etc) frequency and scope (weekly / monthly, for six / twelve months) favoured time of day and day of the week (Monday night 7pm GMT etc), and chat program to use (Trillian, Google, Messenger, AOL, etc) drop outs (leave them by the side of the road / running screaming from the dungeon, etc) and critical players any other suggestions.

Starcraft: Ghost News!
Well, not to crush your world-view, or anything, but they have a reputation for taking other ideas and perfecting them. And they have done it over and over again. Two recent examples: RTS? Warcraft III and The Frozen Throne. MMORPG? WoW: Online. And remember the landscape is littered with the carcasses of those who have tried and failed, both big and small. So, even though they are not your cup of tea, or mine for that matter, they are very good at what they do.

How long do you think it will/would take to change the fuel infrastructure of the industrialized world? Looks like Hydrogen powered engines, with water vapour exhaust, are very close to the current cost-entry-point of petrol/diesel (about 2-5 times current pump prices iirc). The biggest impediment is populating the environment with filling stations ...

English language spreading like cancer
Hee hee. I hadn't thought of that. No, the stuff we're using now, since the globalization era began, and local variation slowed down. The stuff that Mandarin speakers and Europeans are learning as a second language. For example, the English you refer to from the sixteenth century just shows how much a language can change in a few decades/centuries: think about all those words in the plays, how they would have been in common use and rhymed! Now the forces of globalization are working to keep the language homogeneous, and they fight against the local dialectal forces. For example, I can see that the English spoken by the Scots, South Africans and Kiwis, for instance, could very easily become mutually incomprehensible ... "

Ways to fight stress
Running is probably my stress-management tool of choice: I fit the demographic perfectly. I like to run for hours through the country, during which time the rythmic breathing causes a medatative result. Also enjoy boxing; physically expressing any emotion expells it forcefully from the body: keeping emotions repressed will only cause long-term problems. Games can be fun, although the life-limited ones in the arcade have been known to have the reverse effect ... " Writing and arguing, in the socratic sense, are good for me, too. But physical expression is important, even if it's just screaming into a pillow.

Can't really argue with either of the two posts; further to Yst's post, I have a couple of copies of Windows NT 4 around, for example. I am gearing up to build & create a new gaming PC purchase within the next quarter, or so. As I have laptops at the moment, I am planning to create a perfect gaming environment, and I am pleased to provde the fruits of my research for others to benefit from (free to take or leave it). And now, for everyone's delectation, the cheapest Media Centre (Home Theatre PC, or HTPC): [*]a stylist case that doesn't scream "I am a computer", either a small form factor (SFF), or a vertical full-size form factor (to allow cheaper, non-laptop components) e.g. Silverstone's Lascala LC13B (- Starcraft: Ghost News!
Interesting that the alternatives are: beat some other kid up and take their lunch money i.e. replace the current successful MMORPG with a new version; or create a new type of game i.e. all the concommitant risks involved in developing new IP.- T.O.M.B.S: Vol. 5
Topic pruned. Please keep the spam quotient statistically insignificant, and the roasting good-natured. Generally, please don't attempt to circumvent the language filter, either. I don't want any more complaints. Many thanks.- Oblivion Reviews start rolling in
Indeedy. But there is a lot of hype out there, and the firs wave doesn't necessarily cater to the mod community ... after all those guys are a captive market, and aren't the target of aggressive acquisition strategies: more solid defensive blocks. So it might have been drowned out in all the screaming about graphics, etc.- What are you playing now....
