Welcome! You've got one hell of an adventure ahead of you. I've been playing the game for years and am just finishing up another exciting run! The Obsidian Builds List in these forums is perfect for what you what. Don't feel like you need to follow them to 'T' ...you can use them as a guide and make tweaks based on items you want. But always feel free to make a post on here as you've got some incredibly talented folks who enjoy answering build questions. Also, I seriously doubt you'll see any spoilers in those builds. and many of them can be used for the NPC companions! I’ve beaten Pillars on hard, but am way late to the party on rogues! I know they are typically considered weak, but I’m Having a blast stealth ing to the back line and murdering high priority targets (looking forward to playing one in Deadfire as an assassin!). I’m playing a dual wield stilleto rogue (though using he new Deadfire club right now). What are your strategies for keeping your rogue alive? I’m doing fine now, but know the game gets harder and POTD should be even more difficult. Thinking a paladin with reinforcing exhortation should help? Maybe second chance gear? Thanks for any ideas on how to make an assassin thrive in a (5man) Party!

If you were a noobie, you’d be starting at lvl 1, and you’d have far fewer choices. But man, I’ve had a different experience than you. Character creation might be even more fun than the damn game itself!

apologies as we weren't paying close attention to portions o' the recent obsidian twitch beta announcement, but am recalling somebody asked 'bout console commands and am believing josh affirmed the console commands should be functioning. give "iroll20s" a try and if it works you can add as much copper as you wish. edit: confirmed the console commands work for deadfire beta. I badly want to create my own 5 man team to test out, but I ain’t got the cash!! Would be nice to start off with enough to buy 4 mercenaries.

I didn't have enough money to make a party of hirelings. did you find a way around that?

On the topic of wizard feedback, I've been running with a Fighter/Conjurer and it's really fun. Being able to cast Parasitic staff and Arcane Veil every fight makes for a pretty unique warrior mage. Looking forward to expanding his spellbook a bit but for now it's really fun. Disciplined barrage is a nice bonus too! once buffed, this guy is demolishing people.

I mean, this is MaxQuest dude, we need his feedback whether he's playing or not. Next to Boeroer, he might be the most knowledgeable non-Obsidian POE guy in the world. Max - why aren't you playing the beta? I assumed you'd be pulling all-nighters testing out builds!

I <3 obsidian. This game shows such tremendous promise. I’ve been delighted with the writing so far. The environments are beautiful and I can see exploration being a blast in this game. Also, thank you for letting our casters be casters! Per rest abilities are amazing. Having a ton of fun in combat but definitely need the half speed mode like others have mentioned. Gosh, a lot to tweak and the game is just in beta, but this is going to be a thrilling journey!
