  1. Yes you can but influence has to be very low. That means you have to loose influence about 4 times with the npc (assuming you didn;t gain any). This works at least with Bao Dur (script comment says: "Bao-Dur's Influence must be 10 or less OR 90 or more." - I haven't checked for the other NPCs. )
  2. And I think is the main problem with this game. You have to gain sufficient influence to be able to unlock these convos and understand the storyline. To do this you need to constantly switch your party members and run around trying to find the triggers that will unlock the dialogue or you'll get the same convos over and over. The influence idea is excellent but there is no point of locking elements that are part of the main storyline. I think this system, instead of adding to replayability, adds to frustration.
  3. Nothing beats finding a turret with pocket money at least that was worth a good laugh! I wish they categorized the type of items you can find by race and planets too.
  4. Noooooo! That would ruin the game entirely and Kotor would no longer be Kotor! Time and money should be spent on developing a good storyline, dialogues and character development, areas, etc. but not multiplayer in any form.
  5. I definitely prefer the devs invest time and $$$ in making a good plot and story line than on making this game multiplayer. I would never buy it if it was a multiplayer game.
  6. I experienced the "black screen " only once. However, there are other bugs that will cause quests to be broken (I found about 6 major points where the main quest can be broken and there are probably more) and they seem to be caused by missing scripts checking for variables. Those problems will only show up when you reload a game that you saved at specific points. The hardware you are using does not make any difference here. When this happens, there is nothing you can do if you don't have another saved game. However, I believe Obsidian will fix those for the PC. That being said, I enjoyed K2 a lot but I wished it had some more polishing (more QA testing before release).
  7. But many people without a modded xbox still have this "black screen " problem (xbox is pretty new and it's an original copy of the game). More details here (page 1 and 2)
  8. Anther bug regarding the twilek you can rescue in the base at Telos. It's a pain in the *** . He gets stuck behind every minor obstacle. I tol dhim about 30 times " just keep following me" to end up on a black screen (and no I don't have a modded xbox) . (Why not have an option to tell him "the way is clear you can go out and attach a script that makes him run away and destroys the object instead)
  9. Two possibilities: - you are using incompatible mods - very likely some .2da file conflict (would be caused by other mods than the alternate DS ending) or - placed the files in the wrong folder - make sure the files are not placed in another folder inside the main folder.
  10. Despite some bugs and the fact that this game could have been more polished, I enjoyed it pretty much I never experienced freezing issues but got broken quests as explained in my post here (spoilers, you have been warned!) but following some guidelines I was able to easily work around. I hope they fix this for the pc version release.
  11. Well if you don't have a previous save... not much you can do. I keep at least 5 saves per level and make a rotation of them. If it was on the PC, then it would be easily fixed but with the xbox...
  12. I liked the influence idea. However, I wish the conversations with my party members were not all locked down by the influence factor. It gets somewhat annoying to listen to the same thing over and over. If they make Kotor 3, they could make a combination of both Kotor 1 and 2 for this: have new dialogue when you level up but still keep the possibility to influence your party members so they follow you to the dark path. Perhaps just a few new conversation options could be unlocked with influence, and why not, one or two small side-quests. I really missed Jolee's stories ,Canderous and Hk-47 's "exploits" and even Carth's whining.
  13. There seem to be various problems with scripts setting and checking for global /local variables. See my post here. You can work your way around quite easily. I don't have a modded xbox but if it was on PC, i would have made my own "home made " patch. If it is what I think, it is easily fixed.
  14. Well the bugs I reported are most than likely caused by scripts setting/checking for variables and will only appear if you happen to save and reload at the wrong time at the wrong place.
  15. I sliced him wih a double sword. Save you game duringthe battle when you progress. ...and keep more than one saved game! I have about 20.
  16. I found another place: in the tomb of Korriban, there is a dead Jedi in a small room. When you search his corpse, two beasts appear. They give you 400 XP each when you kill them. You can repeat this as much as you want and if you want to go faster, search the corpse 2 or 3 times (if you are storng enough) and you'll fight 4-6 beasts at the time.
  17. I already wrote something like this in another post but since this thread is more centralized, I'll mention it again (with some new additions) : There seem to be several problems with scripts setting/checking for global/local variables that fire when you enter a module: I was on Dantoine and saved my game just when entering a module and before talking to Vrook and fighting him. I died during the fight and reloaded my game. Vrook never reappeared, even when exiting and re-entering the module and it was really a big turning point in the plot. Exact same thing happened on Nar Shadaa: I was suppose to meet "Visquis" ( in the "toxic" bar. I was playing as a Dark Side female sentinel. I saved my game just after I enterering in the area where you meet the Wookie if you are DS or Mira if you are LS. I met with the wookie. Until then, everything is fine. However, in the next sequence, I was transported to another module where Atton has to fight alone, he was ill equipeed and died. When I reloaded, the wookie never appeared. I got Mira instead and it was all messed up. From what I have seen, this also happened to someone else with HK-50 on Peragus. After reloading the game, hk-50 would never attack you. Someone also mentionned a similar problem in the Tomb on Korriban when you enter the tomb with the "visions" and the door at the end would not open. I have also seen similar problems at other places but I don't remember them all (I think I've seen something with t3-m4 on Peragus) The above problems won't show up if you don't save/die at the wrong place at the wrong time...but when you happen to reload your game at one of those moments, it is really annoying as those affect major sequences in the main plot. The solution I found is not to die or save before entering a module. Once you are in a module, you can also save safely after an event (example, after talking to the Wookie on Nar Shadaa but not before) but this rather annoying and not practical, especially for people who are not familiar with how plot advancement works . At some places, I got the feeling (I did not verified any of this) that some of the scripts that set some plot globals are fired when you enter some modules and not when the action is perfomed (Vrook case? ) There are also some problems with dialogues. Wrong branches trigger at the wrong time sometimes. As an example, the dialogue with the Salvager who sells lightsaber stuff near the ruins of the Jedi Enclave is all messed up when you go back to her once you are a Jedi. Also, a few places the text doesn't match exactly what is being said. I hardly understand how these things have never been noticed during testing. Did all those guys played in god mode or what? I get the impression that testing has been rushed out. All the above is really simple to fix (.tlk table editing and a few lines of code here and there) and I really hope Obsidian will fix this for the PC version.
  18. It seems like a problem with scripts that check for/set global variables. check my post here: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=26763 It happenes depending on where you save your game and where you die and reload.
  19. Try exiting/re-entering the Ebon Hawk, per example. And keep more than one saved game next time!
  20. As I mentionned to Grandpa, if his game crahses, it's simply because he doesn't put the .mod files in the right folder.
  21. From what we know already and from the files format used by KotOR2, it should be about the same as modding KotOR 1. It is currently possible to make new areas for KotoR 1 and there are a few ones that are not too bad. The reason why there are not many new modules is because we had to figure out everything about the game first. Also, the tools started to get more powerful only in August, September. Before this the only way to make a new area was using a GFF editor for everything , including dialogue, which, even if it is not necessarily difficult, requires a lot of time and patience... and now I think many modders are just waiting for KotOR 2. However, we still cannot make new area models and we can only use existing models as the area models cannot be fully manipulated at the time being. Items and placeables new models are possible, including lightsabers. Anyways, the whole point of modding for me is to have fun doing mods and figuring out how the game works... Finally, although LucasArts does not support modding officially, they do not discourage them either. LA also posted a screenshot of our site (StarWarsKnights.com) at the official TSL site with our mod of the week announcement on the pic (it's small but it's there). I think the reason why Bioware discourage so much mod support is that since LA did not supported mods officially, they couldn't be responsible for this and didn't want to answer to people messing around with thier game. Also, their boards would probably have been " invaded " by modding discussions. However, in my opinion they exagerated somewhat, even locking threads that were simply mentionning the word "mods" with no real discussion on the subject. @ Grandpa : mods for new areas (.mod) files don't go in the override folder: you have to drop them in the modules folder - that's probably the reason why they don't work in your game - and BTW, I got my Carth skin...)
  22. The only bugs I have encountered so far in the xbox versions are quests that are not triggering at the right moment or once you have netered an area where something is supposed to happen and you die, when you reload the quest is broken. Some dialogues also need to be fixed in that there are also problems with variables and wrong branches sometimes fire at the wrong moment. Also, a few places the text doesn't match exactly what is being said. I don't understand how obvious stuff like this made it through testing. The thing is that this kind of bugs is very easy to fix by adding a few lines of code here and there and modifying the .tlk table for the dialogues. It just need to be thouroughly tested and I really hope they do it with the pc version.
  23. I don't have a modded xbox and I didn't checked the game files but this is what I suspect. If you die in certain areas and reload your game, the global variables "tracking" the plot will be messed out and some events won't trigger as they should. Per example, I was on Nar Shadda where I was suppose to meet "Visquis" (or whatever is his name) in the bar. I was playing Dark side. I saved my game just when I after I entered in the area where you meet the Wookie if you are DS or Mira if you are LS. I met with the wookie. Until then, everything is fine. However, in the next seuqence, I was transported to another module where Atton has to fight alone, he was ill equipeed and died. When I reloaded, the wookie never appeared. I got Mira instead and it was all messed up. Hopefully I save pretty often and I was able to reload another game. I saved my game BEFORE entering the module where you meet Mira or the Wookie and then everything wnet fine. Similar things also happened at other places such as on Korriban when you enter the tomb with the "visions" and the door at the end would not open. Same thing on Dantone too: I saved my game just before the dialogue with Vrook at the end of the level. I fought Vrook and died. I reloaded my game an Vrook never appeared. I also read that someone had a similar problem with the fight with the first HK-50 on Peragus and from what I can see in the boards, similar problems with t3-m4 and in many other places. That is really annoying and I hardly understand how it has never been noticed during testing. The solution is don't die...or save before entering a module or after an event and never before but this rather annoying and not practical (at least with the PC I could make my own patches) I think some of the scripts that set some plot globals are fired when you enter some modules and not when the action is perfomed. Or a few code lines checking for variables are missing from the "On Enter" scripts of some areas. Therefore, when you reload a game, it's like the game already recorded an event that never happened. There are also some problems with dialogues. Wrong branches trigger at the wrong time sometimes. As an example, the dialogue with the Salvager who sells lightsaber stuff near the ruins of the Jedi Enclave is all messed up when you go back to her once you are a Jedi. Those are really simple to fix and they give an impression that testing has been rushed out. I really hope Obsidian will fix this for the PC version.
  24. I am currently palying as a DS female sentinel. I had a level 15 and got Visas Marr in my party on Dantoine (2nd planet). I tried speaking with Kreia both outside and inside the Ebon Hawk, before and after speaking with Visas but nothing, I don't get the options for the prestige class as indicated in the Prima guide. I also tried to wait until the next planet and went to Nar Shadaa and the option didn't trigger, even after leveling up??? And it's not because I didn't speak with my party members since the beginning of the game: I am constanly checking if they have something new to say and I even gained some influence over Kreia. Am I doing something wrong or is it possible that it's a script that is not triggering? (I have noticed some dialogues branches not triggering at the right moment at a few places in the game but I don't know if this is also the case for the prestige classes)
  25. Is it me or did you noticed this too? The items inside the containers seem to change everytime you play the game. I restarted a section of the game on the Harbinger (or whatever) and found out that I didn't end up with the same items in my inventory - during my first save I ended up with 2 Jedi robes and one of them was pretty nice, at least for the beginning of the game. The second time I ended up with a good blaster and gloves but no robes. At first I thought I had forgotten to loot a room so I restarted this section again. But once more, my inventory ended up to be completely different, 1 jedi robe this time but not the one I wanted  It seems that TSL uses scripts with some random function to place the items in the containers. Or maybe it's not completely random: maybe there is a check for alingment per example or maybe it follows another logic(???)
