will i be able to kill indiscriminately?
Aegeri replied to poolofpoo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Lothar is the equivalent of an epic level mage though, so I'm hardly surprised he is unkillable. I think everyone else is expendable however. It has been a while since I played it slaughtering everyone left, right and center though. Good times. -
Poverty for the poor LSers
Aegeri replied to Qui-Gon Fishing's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Grenades are only useful at the start of the game for getting rid of the Rancor (for extra EXP typically) and Bendark starkiller (If level <3, IE saving levels). Otherwise they are pretty much completely useless. Just sell everything (blasters, mines, grenades etc) except for your plasma mines. They are rather useful to cheese malak with. -

Pfff... bring your fishing rod next time. Pfft, fishing rods are so primitive, everyone I know uses high explosives. -

I agree with the initial, post it was ridiculous not being able to go on my galactic killing spree. Honestly, I SOOOOOO wanted to butcher those annoying Selketh. -
I used to have my characters run around nude for a while. Got tiresome pretty quickly. I'd like to see some more robes myself, and hopefully a hood (that is flipped down during combat, or even tossed off).

You really don't seem to understand exactly what epic level means do you Volourn? First of all, there is a massive problem with D20 where after around level 15 the CR system starts to disentigrate. This is generally because the BAB and other abilities that the PC's have are so strong they virtually never miss. This makes monster design harder and harder, and it becomes much more difficult to make a challenging encounter due to how overpowered the PC's are. The solution to this is to generally have enemies that have incredibly good tactics or ways around the players various abilities. This balances the PC's insane power against the monsters, who are often nowhere near as well optimised (Dragons are the sole exception). As I do not expect KotoR2 to have astounding AI, I do not feel this will be a good solution (without blatant dice roll fudging). There isn't any real need as a result to go over level 20, aside from the fact that Star Wars generally lacks "epic" level enemies (and yes, Epic has a specific meaning, it doesn't just mean "over level 20"), considering that the likes of Vader were only level 17ish! In addition to this, over level 20 characters will just run out of things to fight that can threaten them (and there isn't a lot, even in DnD about all that can threaten epic characters is twinked out epic dragons and Gods). The only option that would be left would be fighting epic level characters the whole time (IE other epic level Sith), with everything else just being complete cannon fodder. Of course, world verisimilitude goes down the toilet fast when you have ARMIES of epic level Sith that AREN'T controlling the entire damn galaxy. So this option also isn't practical. I would do what I do not in d20 pnp, I reduce the rate that EXP is gained. This means that it takes more to level up (rather than in D20 where you level too fast by the base CR system), and allows more time to be spent at mediumish levels, while still getting players out of the 3 level critical death zone (levels 1-3, sometimes up to 4 for certain characters) fairly quickly. It also allows players to reach level 20 after a fair amount of work, and can make for a longer game without anyone gaining a level every 2 seconds. I do not feel that over level 20 is a good idea in any shape or form. It will simply make for another unchallenging monty haul.

I want to see the Jawas come back!

I want to power level to level 99! Are there any Gods in the star wars universe I can kill ? Ahhh well, the second game can be Munchkin seeing as the first game was Monty Haul.
-
meh, munchkin campaign here we come...
-
No, they need to be weaker, there will NEVER be enemies that will match the incredibly screwed cheese of destroy droid+force wave. Unless they make them all immune, which will essentially make force powers useless. If they stuck to the damn rules...
-
I was here before that too, but after you. Awesome huh?

I have only three questions, and one was already answered (Ranged weapons will not be completely useless this time) 2) Will grenades be fixed so they aren't a waste of time against moving targets, and too good against anything stationary? It is just odd to me that a level 2 character can whop a higher level one by their insanely accurate grenade throwing. 3) I really want to know this, are the force powers going to be fixed so you don't turn into an uber death machine? That is a critical issue to me.

***UNOFFICAL KOTOR 2 : THE SITH LORDS FAQ***
Aegeri replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I doubt it, prestige classes tend to be few in number and fairly hard to actually get into (due to stringent requirements). Plus they tend to be badly balanced too, perhaps a theme of KotoR games? -

***UNOFFICAL KOTOR 2 : THE SITH LORDS FAQ***
Aegeri replied to Gromnir's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It will probably be the first quest, with some 'revelation' or similar that the guy who has your light sabre is a Sith. Then you'll kill him to get your lightsabre back. Or something. I hope it isn't as utterly predictable as that... -
What I want to see in KOTOR II
Aegeri replied to Fearless_Jedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'll say this again, I want the force powers to either be like the pen and paper, or make them bloody balanced. Force Wave is simply ridiculous and so is destroy droid. Those two in combination can wipe out entire bases of enemies in a matter of clicks. It makes combat an incredibly boring farce and just a hinderance. Of course, with the 'casual' gamer approach that Knights probably has, then I guess I'll never find any challenge in the game. I guess my main requests then are: Less annoying NPC's, or allow me to kill them. For the love of God, if there is another Carth like NPC in the game I want to bloody kill him straight off. I DO NOT want to be FORCED to listen to his whinging throughout. This also flows onto the fact that I would like to be able to slaughter the often equally as annoying NPC's in game. With only a few exceptions, I felt the NPC's were a chore rather than useful. If I'm forced to be a Jedi at least make blasters useful this time (this flows onto my first request about game challenge). Of course, as the game is a twitch system then this is likely to be impossible. We'll either have useless blasters (because of no 5' step rules and the like), or completely overbalanced blasters (that HAVE to be able to kill in the first round or be utterly useless). We'll have massively overbalanced melee due to the RT system anyway. This will also make non Jedi NPC's possibly useful. *Possibly*. Fix the interface, it was horrific. Extraordinarily cumbersome in many respects, of course it works on a console, but Deus Ex 2 proved that what works on a console doesn't mean it will function overly well on a PC. I'll say this again, because I really want to put some heavy emphasis on this, FIX THE FORCE POWERS. They were plainly ridiculous in the first game. In combination with that, you might as well fix lightsabres as well. Either make them more like the pnp, where they get more useful as you level up, or at least have some form of improvement curve (By items or similar). They are effectively the best weapon since the moment you get them. Speaking of lightsabres, it could probably be done that they don't cut through melee weapons. There isn't much of a point to making everything in the game pointless except for lightsabres. Making them cut straight through things would just make things even more insanely imbalanced. Oh, did I mention that the force powers in the first game were ridiculous? More pacifist/non combat options and less railroading (Hello Manaan!). If I go through the Sith base without firing a SINGLE SHOT, I do not expect to bloody be accused of shooting crap. That is massively poor on the designers part and is something I'd expect someone DMing for their first time to do. A more general point to close is that (as I've hopefully got across here), the game was insanely imbalanced. Force powers were nuts, blasters were useless, light sabres were God (With the Assault Blade being the sole exception, it was fairly nuts too), Jedi classes were infinitely better than anything else, because of the ridiculous force power system (see how one imbalanced thing flows onto another) and the game was extraordinarily limited options wise even compared to Baldurs Gate 2. I loved the first game, don't get me wrong here, I thought it was well done and had some very imaginative quests on occasions. The ridiculous balance however severely let the game down for me, as I found the first part rather difficult (first time round), and then suddenly the game became an absolute breeze. It is insane that a game is *harder* at the first bit and then a complete breeze at the end. This is ALL to do with how insane the Jedi and melee weapons are. Now I have played the Pen and Paper, I know that Jedi are insane characters, I ALSO know that generally you run a Jedi campaign OR a normal classes campaign. If you are making this revolve around Jedi, there is NO NEED to have useless blasters, overpowered melee weapons or similar. These things perfectly balance out against the Jedi force powers (which you will hopefully tone down so they don't start at completely ridiculous and go to army destroying in a few levels) and other abilities (lightsabres!). None of this will probably matter though. I'm expecting KotoR 2 to be fun, but another completely unchallenging game with 90% of the weapons utterly useless. At least blasters can be treated like money once again -

I found it groan inducing the first time I am very interested in this game, but for the love of God obsidian, fix the damn force powers and combat system. -
KOTOR 2 and Untreal Tornement 2004
Aegeri replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Except Jedi Knight is slow, boring and isn't anywhere near UT on a competitive level. At least that is a valid comparison UT2004 is infinitely more replayable than Knights, but Knights is a more entertaining single player game by a LONG shot. UT's single player is there to get you practice to play real opponents. -
Just say 'no' to Johnny Quest villains!
Aegeri replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'm a fan of villains who are only trying to do what they think is right or are horribly mislead. I'm a bit tired of cookie cutter evil that is always just evil for the hell of it. They end up being comical (IE the antagonist in KotoR, who is so memorable I can't even recall who he is) or worse, just a parody of a better done stereotype. -
Don't force me to play a jedi
Aegeri replied to triCritical's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Personally, I don't actually care if I'm forced to play a Jedi, so long as I aren't arse rammed into every stupid decision possible (Lets assault an entire sith base, why? Because killing them is the only thing I can do! Ho hum!). I will wait and see what they do. I've never cared for other races other than human anyway, but I am a little annoyed that I cannot play anything other than yet another damn Jedi. -
I used to go to DAC a lot but then I slowly stopped going over time. Probably due to the slow death that Fallout suffered at the hands of ****. I dunno if I'll go back much anymore.

 I dunno, I'm from New Zealand as well, what exactly would I be expected to do? Yeah, what is it exactly you New Zealanders do? I don't exactly know. Was someone expecting me to do a seductive dance for them with a rubber chicken?
