  1. Wrong, it does nothing, because the EFFECT is that BOTH gangs are destroyed no matter your choice (as Taris gets blown to bits). The middle is irrelevant if the end is always the same, your choices become meaningless with the destruction of taris becuase there is no result to your actions. The vulkars do not take over and terrorise the entire undercity etc, because, like everyone else, they happen to be rather dead. If you want to see this done right, play Fallout. That simple.
  2. And what happens to Taris? Oh yeah, that's right, IT KINDA GETS BLOWN UP. Rather meaningless now isn't it when you think about it The overall effect is that you've changed nothing.
  3. You got things the wrong way, and incidently, it doesn't matter if you choose to work for the vulkars (DS) because you're forced to massacre 90% of them ANYWAY. There is no real choice there except going off and killing the becs in addition to whacking most of the vulkars. In short, it isn't much of a choice. Only two major decisions really affect anything in the game. Not giving the fellow in the undercity the journals for the promised land and destroying Manaans ecosystem. In the first instance, this allows those people to survive the assault on taris (presumably), in the second case, it wipes out the planet and gets you banished from the planet (major result). Other choices in the game end up being rather meaningless. Wiping out/not wiping out the families on dantooine is offset by the fact the planet is still wiped clean by the Sith fleet. The rakghoul serum quest has an irrelevant result because the entire planet is wiped clean (except for the promised land surivors if any). No matter what happens on Korriban, you ALWAYS end up being attacked by the entire academy. Overall, this game cotains little real choice, every major decision in this game railroads you into a specific result anyway no matter what you chose to do. That is a real shame in many respects.
  4. I believe I had Cassus Fetts heavy pistol in one hand, and Mandalorean heavy pistol in the other hand. I mastered all the weapons and had master rapid shot. I got in about 45+ damage each turn. And I never once pulled out a lightsaber or sword. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fully upgraded dual baragwain assault blades+master critical strike (That is roughly 5-20 criticial hit range btw)+strength 18 (several items, easy to do)=Roughly 60 damage average with over 160 possible in one turn Your go next Incidently, on the starforge use force wave, virtually nothing can resist it (including malak) and force wave can demolish anything. If you have sufficient Jedi levels (IE saved levels) then nothing should be able to resist your force powers either, or alternatively you need to learn how to use force breach.

    FLU

Huh? Just throw a grenade/stealth/grenade/stealth etc. If done correctly you may not even need to move to kill him. Then, put the grenade and scent in the bodies as normal and get EXP a second time. How handy.
  6. And out there, before the big bang, where that squirrel is, NOTHING And under your desk, NOTHING And right there, where your head is now, NOTHING And you know what? All of it is going to IMPLODE IN ONE GIANT CRUNCH. The universe you see Children is DOOMED. Doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, doomed, GO NOW.
  7. The swoop racing is considered part of the actual quests? Hmm, then I guess to this day i still have never finished the game completely. My computer was too stuttery (is that a word?) to be able to do the swoop racing, so I never even bothered after Taris. Doing all quests and such, after I'd got the hang of the game, I usually finished it in 22 to 25 hours range. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It depends, I wouldn't myself, but you do get some extra events and such when you do so. If you think of the game as completing everything you can, then the swoop races are an important part of that I guess.
  8. How is this possible? When you get into the reception area to take the lift back to the fishy people city you are forced to decloak and fight the droids and people in the reception area. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can break that trigger very easily. It still doesn't make a difference to either my point (thanks for pointing out another example of KotoRs railroading however) or the fact it is VERY possible to go through there without firing even a single shot. If you can be bothered that is :/
  9. I remember when I used it to go through the entire sith base without killing a single thing and got out without a shot fired. I still got the same cutscene and it was then that KotoR greatest weakness (RAILROADING+++!) and the pointlessness of stealth mode became extremely obvious. That was one of the most disappointing moments I've ever had in a game now I think about it. So much effort for no benefit
  10. You know, if you become the DM you can be ANYTHING you want....
  11. 20 hours AND doing all the sidequests? I didn't think that was physically possible, considering movement speeds (even with Force Speed on all the time). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> One thing that should be noted is that until the patch, you couldn't actually walk in the PC version, so those using the PC actually finished the game a little faster than average because they ran pretty much everywhere. For what it is worth, I completed the game at 24 hours the first time having done 90% of the sidequests available (I know I missed swoop racing on the annoying fish planet, because I got exiled first-IE I was Darkside). It took me merely 18 the next time through, due to having discovered the wonders of both force wave (plain abusive) and destroy droid. It's worth noting I was one of the first powergamers that realised you could not bother levelling on Taris to massively increase your Jedi levels. With suitable numbers, and using a well optimised party, you can cleave through all the combat in this game in seconds. Even Darth Malak will die to a suitably cheesed up 18/2 Consular/Scoundrel in only a few minutes. It is VERY possible to finish this game rapidly doing most things, especially the second time around if you know the order of things. You can also max out your dark side mastery by half-way through Dantooine, and the best I've heard of is just after leaving Taris. So in short, I would DEFINITELY say the first game was too short, and I'd say it was because most of the challenges in the game were just a tad on the easy side.
  12. Actually you should have everyone using melee weapons, they do infinitely more damage than blasters and in fact, one of my main complaints with KotoR is how INCREDIBLY crap the blasters are. Pound for pound, number for number, they just perform infinitely worse than lightsabers and baragwain (probably spelt wrong, it has been a while) assault blades.
  13. The day I believe that is the day someone brands the word "Gullible" into my forehead with an iron. The game was clearly ported, if it was worked on from the ground up and NOT ported, I want to know why it doesn't have a walk button (This is very solid evidence if you consider how the X-Box analogue controller works), the INCREDIBLY clunky interface (which I hear obsidian is fixing this time around for the PC version) and other oddities. I don't believe the 'built' for both systems independantly one bit, because they clearly aren't. I do believe though that they decided to add some stuff to the PC version afterwards, but it was only very minor and I don't think really altered the game that radically. I'm still not a fan of extra content however except in the forms of expansion packs. I'd rather a well balanced and thought out main quest to adding random stuff afterwards
  14. Personally, I thought the fact we got extra stuff in the PC version, which esentially never materialised on the X-Box version compensated a wee bit for many of the console limitations imposed to the PC versions design. Honestly, how could you forget to add a walk button to the PC version? :/ I don't really believe downloadable extra content is overly worth it in either version however. I prefer my RPG's complete out of the box, with maybe an expansion if there is still room to wiggle in the story.
  15. I wouldn't mind some free EXP especially given how easy the combat of the first game was. I'd rather them make combat more difficult first and then think about implementing something like respawning enemies, which are only good for EXP camping generally.
  16. I thought that had already become fact by now.
  17. I was not at all surprised when I saw this movie and hey, look at that, it's pretty terrible! The preview made this movie look fantastic, edgy and interesting. The actual result was far from that. Just like signs :/ Like an above poster, I too was hoping for him to ram home the organised religion aspect as well. I have to concede he is easily the most over rated director around.
  18. Don't really bother Though Sarge is on occasions rather amusing.
  19. I have tried it; I love Urban Legends. I was told by a grunt who had just been in Iraq. He was on leave. Maybe they started the legend for kicks? Well then you can slap him for telling you a whole load of horse crap. They don't eat people, they don't have very complex venom and no, they do NOT EAT CAMELS. They are however very fast, rather nasty when cornered and importantly, are an amusing sport for many people (including US marines) as they throw two of them in a box and watch the fun. The whole camel/man eating spider myth came from Something Awful I believe...
  20. It is worth noting that they are unusually aggressive and their fangs can go straight through the average boot or shoe. I've seen one chase someone before, it was pretty funny really. I love spiders myself and I actually breed jumping spiders to study their semaphore communication system. I also maintain around 4-5 pet spiders that I feed the local irritating insect wildlife too (IE flies). My recent discovery of one of those bee killing spiders (they have a specially made web that rips the stinger out of wasps and bees) has meant a distinct lack of wasps too. Good times and insect free. I have a small light in a box with 3 ladder weaver spiders in it. I haven't had a moth in my room for around 8 months now. The moths go for the light, and seldom suvive the spiders living in the box. I think I have a spider for every common household insect actually.
  21. In a word: Yes. Way, way, way too easy a game. It was too easy because: Force powers are completely whacked (Force Wave especially). There was never any really significant opposition.
  22. I want him in the game so I can throw him out an airlock into the eternal darkness of space. Just to watch him pop like a little balloon.
  23. This was KotoR length: <---> Simply put, it was WAYYYYYYYYY to easy. I blew through the game once I got Jedi levels. If the sequal fixes the force powers <------> I'd imagine (good length). Otherwise <--> because I'll immediately know what optimisations to take to wipe the floor with everything.
