  1. Looks like I have to wait for Obsidian's apocalpytic RPG instead.
  2. Curious, who are the key people working on the expansion this time around? Its unlikely Josh and MCA will be involved in the expansion heavily since they should be busy with the Aliens RPG at the meantime.
  3. Dankee Meh, Epic levels ::Sighs:: Got to live with it I guess. Hopefully the engine's much more optimized by then as well as improving the rest system which I find affects the balance of the game.
  4. No, NEVER ever let Bethesda publish any games for Obsidian. NEVER. After what I had seen with the game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth that was meant to be made with a much more richer and deeper experience butchered into the current consolized version because of Bethesda. NO. Just make your own IP instead. Oh, 40K RPG will roxor my pants off.
  5. As a Chinese, yes, its looks to us as though all the characters are from a circus.
  6. My beloved character I had been playing in a PW server for four years now and still playing. No plans to quit until the server quits. Finally got the PRC weapon master class that took a whole year to finally get my application to be processed by the DMs. Currently standing outside the walls of Norwick, conducting his unscheduled patrols as he aides the town's defences in a fool's war against the overwhelming, better trained and disciplined orcs.
  7. First time I played a handheld game to the point where I'm suffering from painful neck sprain
  8. I'm currently playing Puzzle Quest, DS version. Despite the goofy name which is hard for anyone to take such game seriously, I only bought it once Penny Arcade recommended the game strongly and wow... Its one damn fine addictive RPG puzzle game. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/03/26 http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/03/28
  9. I tried the demo. The gameplay is certainly fast but, it feels like there is little improvement over the existing C&C games though aside from graphically. So I doubt I would be getting it.
  10. What's wrong with Developers posting reviews of other games in their own blogs? Josh may be known for creating mechanics for RPGs, but there is no fault for him to enjoy FPS, Sports, RTS or whatever games and post his own personal thoughts of the game. I thought that its interesting to read up on his thoughts and reviews of the modern games we all are getting and will be playing from now on just like any other reviews that is posted by casual gamers like you and I.
  11. Curious, is that the 360 version or the PC? I assume its the former? I read that there be changes in both gameplay and interfaces for the PC version since its being handled by a different developer.
  12. Amen. Amen. Initially I got bought into the hype, but after a few weeks of playing, I realised I never gained any feeling satisfaction from the game at all. I feel exploration RPG done similiarly to Wizardry 8 or -especially- like Betrayal in Krondor with modern graphics, it'll be great.
  13. I want Avellone to make a Cthulhu based RPG, and I know he's got the right nuts in his twisted brain to make a good one. I feel a deep and unique RPG can be made from a Cthulhu based world that Obsidian could exploit it from.
  14. You're lucky you got the 360 version as there are plans to be supported from Ubisoft that will come in patches and new maps. The PC version on the other hand is a poorly optimized buggy port, awkward multiplayer interface that is being ported directly from the console(No ability to set passwords, number of rounds, a proper display of network latency ect.) and most of the times the multiplayer games are prone to crashes. So far, no word of a possible patch to fix these issues or even attempt to support the community officially or in the forums. As a result, many old Rainbow six old time clans moved on to other games. Rainbow Six Vegas and Lockdown is somewhat a controversy to many old Rainbow Six players which I think you may realize. Rainbow Six is all about realistic tactical shooter game that defines its own genre when it was first released. It was so popular and unique that the game was even featured in the Times magazine I recalled. The game is all about strategic planning and a one shot, one kill motto game. As a result, it had small but growing and extremely dedicated Rainbow Six fanbase that grew bigger as more sequels and expansions were released (Rogue Spear and Raven Shield). However, the release of Lockdown came as a shock to the Rainbow Six community as the game is suddenly geared towards more of an action shooting based game made with console in mind instead of a tactical shooter. Thinking its a mistake in design decision Ubisoft made, the community shrugged and looked forward to the next game which is R6: Vegas. When R6: Vegas was released, there was an air of disappointment amongst the community as the game remained as an actioned based shooter. However, the funness behind the gameplay made up for it. (Note, I am speaking in the perspective of a PC user which makes up the core structure of the Rainbow Six community which the first three games were released in PCs first) Despite the fun, the community had to go through endless of frustrations due to a buggy, poorly optimized port and there is not even an option to create a dedicated server for multiplayer! Many are angry but they decided that probably the patches would fix what was left out from the game like SADS. Unfortunately, the patches that claimed to fix the bugs never got them fixed at all and the community were simply given a semi-SADS for multiplayer with no ability to create custom maps. The last patch for the PC fixed some bugs that are considered as low priority by the community that only enraged the loyal PC fans even more. As a consequence, Rainbow Six franchise had lost many players that had stuck with the name ever since its first incarnation. I do not know what the gaming industry is currently taking now but it seems they are more focused in providing the console market more than the PC now by bringing games originally from PC to continue its life consoles. However, I feel that its best not to abandon the roots of the Rainbow Six franchise, which is the fans that had stuck to the game for so long only to be abandoned as the game is geared and built only for consoles in mind. Imagine Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, made for PC with the toolset that came along with it that makes up the franchise's fanbase only to have its sequel, Neverwinter Nights 3, made specifically with a console in mind with no Toolset and then to be shoddily ported to the PC. That is what had happened to Rainbow Six. Rainbow Six unfortunately isn't the only popular tactical game that became such victim. Another well known Clancy title, the "Ghost Recon" series went through the similiar evolution of the franchise. Perhaps the publishers feels that it is worth to discard the roots of how the franchise came to be in order to attract general casual gamers. But as a result, the franchise had lost its original spirit that it had always tried to strive for. Glad you like the game Josh, but I'm sad and angry with the direction the franchise had taken now which something you may not understand since you never stayed with it from the beginning of its birth.
  15. X-COM ftw. IGN actually didn't put Oblivion as no.1 but rather a classic game, respect earned. But to put Oblivion amongsts the top 25, respect lost too.
  16. Only issue I have in general regarding of the models is the elves. The only elf model I enjoy oggling at is only Elanee. The others, I had to mentally gouge my eyes out. I would personally suggest Obsidian use Elanee as a reference as how female elves should look like if more head models are to be added/refined in the xp
  17. Come to think of it, I'm surprised no one made a Dragonball module
  18. Check the link at the start of this thread that leads to Chris's interview Mesh. Its not exactly an announcement but rather an unofficial one that assures the interviewee the announcement of expansion will be released very soon.
  19. Uh huh, but based on some posts in the general NWN2 forum, I think this news is very much needed to reassure their paranoia and cynism. Also Volourn, I don't think you are hated by the Dev though it helps if you can more than once in a while write a friendly post. This forum isn't RPG codex afterall.
  20. Just got Super Robot War W for DS and its super awesome since its got many series I'm in love with with Voltrons being one of the playable characters. ^.^ Its sweet! Its delicious! Its Sweetlicious! Video: The nostalgia of my childhood days.
  21. Ayup, the link I've made in the first post had Chris mentioning of the NWN2 expansion going to be announced officially very soon. And I think Project New Jersey was the supposedly Console action RPG?
  22. To quote Avellone from one of the recent interview here: http://forums.multiplayer.it/showthread.php?t=295546 I know one of the project is a NWN2 expansion, the other is Aliens but what's the third one? I'm not aware of it. Last I heard project New Jersey was dropped wasn't it? Someone out here please enlighten me?
  23. I rather the player starts off an occupation similiar to a rogue trader/civilian at the first level and then allowing you to choose the possible occupations you want to be and branch out from there on. Otherwise to see everyone choosing as a space marine or Inquisitor might end up into a situation similiar to Star Wars Galaxy's over populated Jedi problem. Yes, its something as what Calax said, but I prefer if the player starts off much more modestly so that he could choose other possible occupation as well like a Cultist(Both Chaos and Genestealer?), trader or simply a mercenary. Something along the lines of that. Like he said, you'll then work your way up.
  24. 40+ hours with short breaks in between playing NWN in one of the RP persistent world. Felt like going through a heart attack from that session. I was such an undisciplined kid back then. I still do play in that PW, but I don't marathon anymore now.
