one thing i noticed is that there seemed to be an abundance of new forum users signing up JUST to post the same kind of "OMG OBSEEDAN YOU SUK!" threads. most (not all) of the "regular" forumers who complained about the game tended to do so in a constructive way, actually making an intelligent point in their ranting. but it seemed that a bunch of people just signed up to bitch about the game without actually providing anything constructive, and thats the majority that seem to have ruined this forum for the rest of us. im not sure if thats what happens on all forums when a game gets released (ie. newbies joining up just to whine), but thats one of the things that caught my attention here.

my vote is for mike gallo finally having enough of being made fun of, so hes using his powers to throw a temper tantrum and have the forums shut down. -

thats what im afraid of. i loathe those forums. -
i just noticed the announcement at the top of the general discussion page. if the decision comes down to close the forums, that would be a huge disappointment. i really hope you guys reconsider.

simple. dont make the enemy dark jedi/sith. look at the original movies (ep. iv to vi). yes, vader and the emperor were sith/dark jedi, but they were the ONLY two characters the protagonists faced that were force sensitive. and all through a new hope, never once did the main trio (leia, luke, han) have to face them. sure obi-wan did, but he would be, in terms of a game, a npc party member. it would just require some creative writing on the part of the writer to make sure that if there are any sith or dark jedi, that they are taken care of in a different way so that they dont necessarily have to be the "end boss" (ala obi-wan taking on vader so that luke, the star of the movie, didnt have to).

really? i dont know if i agree with that. imo, baldurs gate combat was a)more difficult and b)more of it.

The List of Continuity Mistakes
NeverwinterKnight replied to Darth Nuke's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
this is more about darth nuke being anal and wanting "star wars continuity", even though the star wars continuity itself is a rather jumbled mess to begin with. -
i did that already with kotor 1. but you cant change the actual story. even modding my game i was still revan, and i still was a former sith lord. same thing with kotor2. even if i edit it to make my character a non-jedi, the story will still revolve around my character re-establishing his touch with the force. not to mention every single piece of dialogue talking about the force would make no sense.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance I
NeverwinterKnight replied to Meshugger's topic in Computer and Console
i was actually curious about this myself. when im done with baldurs gate (im playing thru 1, then on to 2), im going to need a new fix until jade empire gets released. and preferably one on the xbox. -
i forget what my earlier comments were in this thread, so i might contradict myself (hey, its the internet, people do it all the time), but id just like to say that id like the next "series" to be about a non-jedi, where you dont have jedi powers. perhaps, at most, one of your party members is a jedi, but a very low level one. but the pc protagonist should be non-jedi. i know that might not be much fun for most, since crpgs tend to need a "magic" element to sell well, and making the pc someone without "magic" ability might not sell well, but its what id love to see. imo, we got our "jedi fix" with the kotor series. lets get our non jedi fix with the new series.

For what it's worth...
NeverwinterKnight replied to Dehumanizer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
i played the xbox version, so just out of spite i wont sign the petition -
the overall story/characters. ive been pulled in to games that are perhaps mediocre when it comes to graphics, or gameplay or character creation, but if it has a story that catches my attention i tend to get hooked. plus the more interesting the npc, the more interesting the overall atmosphere seems to be. but its difficult to just name one thing really. i also like diversity in creating my character, and the ability to play the game different ways.

The posters on the official SW forums
NeverwinterKnight replied to Matt7895's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
worst. story plot. ever. followed closely by the insane power they gave exar kun in the comics. -
if its a new pc, i just hope he/she isnt the third "chosen one" type character. so far the two pcs (revan and exile) have been the type of character that was the only hope for the galaxy and had some kind of immense potential or power in the force. id like to see just an "average" jedi who has to get by on teamwork with his npc party, and smarts. i know that might be difficult to implement in a story when, all things being considered, the pc will end up being the saviour. but somehow i want them to work it where he can still be the saviour without having to be a "chosen one" type character.

What is Obsidian upto?
NeverwinterKnight replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
does that take into account how many crpgs are actually out there though? for instance, if there are 1000 different strategy games and only 10 rpg games on the market, then it only stands to reason that strategy games, as total sales, will be greater. however, in terms of sales per game, would rpgs still be so low? -

KOTOR2 too short for my taste.
NeverwinterKnight replied to Ludwig's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
oh good god make it stop. -
are you serious? i just started playing bg1 (have never gotten into it before) and set the difficulty slider to just under half-way. so if im reading what youre saying correct, the difficulty level is just the same as moving the slider all the way over to the right, except im missing out on more xp? <_<

care to either explain to me, or link to the article about what japanese look for in a game? that quote got me curious. :D

ugh. go play jedi academy. i really wish people would stop trying to turn kotor into something its not meant to be.

Female Romance option SUCKS!
NeverwinterKnight replied to Woodsprite4's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
thats not what she said at all. she clearly stated she wasnt happy with the CHOICE of npc love interests that female pcs get. -
Star Wars Republic Commando's Gamespot review
NeverwinterKnight replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
never played freedom fighters, so i have no clue what the controls are like. sounds positive, but im still going to wait a while and hopefully pick it up at a discount. -
I don't FEEL evil
NeverwinterKnight replied to DarthPetulant's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
grand theft auto "evil" is thug evil. true evil masterminds (such as what someone like palpatine is supposed to be) wouldnt just start randomly beating someone with a shovel just because he wanted to be "evil". -
Female Romance option SUCKS!
NeverwinterKnight replied to Woodsprite4's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
then that proves my point even more, making the ratio 2 to 2. but the reason i mention her is because youve got "flirting" options with her, whereas bao-dur never flirts with a female pc (or if he does, i never got that option).
