  1. That guy really knew how to throw a party. They just don't do it like they used to anymore I didn't recognise half of the "celebrity" names on the list it showed me for my part.
  2. I think you missed the point of the question... it wasn't what era the best titles were released, but what era your favourite titles were released (which includes adjustment for first impressions, nostalgia etc.) No. I didn't miss the point. I equate quality with favorites. I would bet money that most people do, as well, but nostalgia is, as I said, the killer of reasoning. People play newer games over older games because they're better. to me, if you would rather play Ninja Gaiden 2004 over the original, yet claim the original is your favorite, you're being irrational. Thats your choice. Doesn't make it wrong or right for other people to consider some older titles superior to recent games, especially if you value gameplay, game balance and similar over presentation. When all is said and done, when I put things like BG2, PS:T and Kotor aside, I pick up my emulator and play games like Doomdarks Revenge and a couple of old SSI titles because the mechanics and most importantly, the fun in those games are superior.
  3. Just like Baldurs Gate II took place in Baldurs Gate...

  5. You know what, you teacher is right Anyway, if it is just oppinions/world view you want... A particularly successful combination of genes. To the best of my knowledge, only ****roaches and rats are doing better. To mutate, evolve and procreate (a fancy word for having children). See above. Live long, be successful, get a bunch of kids. You terminate the experiment that was your particular gene combination and make room for the next revision of the gene pool. Observing nature. They look for other ways to explain things. A significant spiritual experience. Nothing that other humans could do to me. Good luck with your assignment
  6. The power of image editing software... The Legolas one was hilarious.
  7. I'd rather that you did not ... your post could be interpreted as intentionally trying to 'stir the pot' so to speak ... and I am sure that's not what you meant to do Me ? Oh noooo.... I would never do that. I swear as true as my name is Gorth Just to stay on topic, I went and signed the petition again ;)"
  8. Nah, it was in another time and another place, the age before handhelds and PDA's. Today I prefer Carmageddon or when travelling, to read a book
  9. My little brother and I came up a PnP racing game once we were bored, sitting on the back seat on a long trip. It was basically a drawn, slightly random race track on an A4 paper (with squares) Players would start with a "dot" (their racing car) at the start line and a "vector" of 1 in the track direction (it represented direction and speed of the "car"). For every player "turn" we could then modify that vector with +/- one in each direction when continued from the dot where it currently was e.g. turn 1 would be 1,0 (speed 1) next turn 3,0 (speed 2), next turn 6,1 (speed 3 in one direction, -1 in the other direction) when heading towards the first curve. Trick is to guess, what will the optimum speed to race through a curve be. Mind you, if you are going to hit the barrier with speed 10 or so, you'll crash and burn. so you have to slow down and manage a decent speed through curves before you can speed up and move a lot of squares again on the straight parts. Fun way to pass the time instead of constantly bugging our parents with "Are we there yet?" Only downside was, they didn't really appriciate the sound fx we provided the game with
  10. I mean, poor Gorth. I'm truly comforted by your sincere display of compassion
  11. I'm still moaning and whining that the frame buffer effect setting is off by default in Kotor... I wasted 25 hours of my life playing through it the first time with the effects off, never knowing that they were there, hidden under advanced settings
  12. INTP Not really sure if it tells me anything I didn't suspect... Famous INTP's Socrates Rene Descartes Blaise Pascal Sir Isaac Newton William Harvey (pioneer in human physiology) C. G. Jung, (Freudian defector, author of Psychological Types, etc.) William James Albert Einstein Tom Foley (Speaker of the House--U.S. House of Representatives) Henri Mancini Bob Newhart Jeff Bingaman, U.S. Senator (D.--NM) Rick Moranis (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids) Midori Ito (ice skater, Olympic silver medalist) Tiger Woods Funny, I hate golf...
  13. Been there, done that (signed the petition). Can we derail the thread now ?
  14. Early to late 80'es (1983-1989) or Commodore 64/Amiga 500/Amiga 4000. Which gives 8/16/32 bit Although things started to change with the Amiga, before that, gameplay was usually the selling point of a game. Sound and gfx was there to support the gameplay, not the other way around.
  15. Yes, one of the very oldest WOT threads (started by Mr. Teatime iirc) and gender confusion was still perfectly possible
  16. Then you should throw molotov ****tails at people who play playstation games... I fail to see the relevance for the subject of theft (which is admittedly also off-topic for this thread). No, we are talking about theft. In my book, if you steal something, that other people has put man-hours into making, whether it be a loaf of bread, a building, a composition, a digital image or even something as abstract as a scientific theory, you are stealing. Not really a complicated concept. Depends on whether that person is sitting outside the show for the purpose of not paying the person who put time and effort into making the music. While the mere thought of prosecuting a casual listener outside a concert (who might be there for a completely legit and unrelated reason, like taking a walk in a park), it doesn't change the fact that ethically, it's theft, because you persue some kind of entertainment created by others and you take steps to ensure, that the person doesn't get compensated for time, material and work going into that performance. Btw. I don't claim moral high ground, I was no better when I was a young man, I just don't agree to the claims that it isn't theft.
  17. Talk about bull **** Stealing and using other peoples work, no matter the medium is still theft. By your same logic, it's perfectly fine to do shoplifting ? The circumstances are the same, the store has a lot of stuff on their shelves, why not help yourself to a few handfuls of it... I mean, as long as you don't get caught it's perfectly morally justifiable, right ?
  18. Muahaha! That'll teach those bloody spammers not to drop all that unsolicited stuff off at your doorstep :D
  19. On a completely unrelated and off-topic note, I clicked on Darque's user profile to see if there was an interesting sig line (I click on peoples profiles every now and then to do that, as I have the signature feature switched off)... And saw this: User most active in forum: Obsidian Moderation ( 1646 posts / 40% of this member's active posts ) Damn is that an active moderator!
  20. PC version of Kotor1 had "game stopping" bugs after 3 patches. Things should improve.
  21. What happened to Resident Evil 1&2 ??? Edit: Damn Ramza, you are fast...
  22. I'm pretty sure there is a proper medical term for that...
  23. No. It's a nice game and I completed it several times, but compared to other games and games that once were, it might sneak into the lower part of the top 50 list. But don't feel bad about that, I've been playing computer games for 20 years. The game was very "medium" everything, medium story, medium gfx, medium music, medium charater interaction etc. It offered nothing new, but filled a gap at a time where no games of interest had been or were to be released for a long time. And as I said, even if not brilliant a quite OK game and good fun.
  24. ... ... Now thats comedy :-"
  25. The one I did at work. I went to the Mensa site and did it there (they have nicer colours on their test). Unfortunately, I didn't think of making a screenshot of spread 15 (which is lower than the value at spread 24). Should give approximately 138 at 15, which I think it missing one of the questions... (133 if you bungle two) Edit: Lets be honest, spread 24 is better for ego-stroking
