Whats your problem ? 38, married to my work, no acknowledged children >_ Usually end up buying a lot of stuff that I never get around to use Just bought Kotor2 during my lunch break today. Previous purchased Lucas Arts games were x-wing vs. tie fighter and knights of the old republic. I don't qualify as a Star Wars fan

China has been mentioned a couple of times... English civil war (might be too similar to MTW), Ancient America (Aztecs, Incas, Mayas etc.), Africa (Kush or Zulu empire anybody), Ancient Mesopotamia (Egyptians, Assyrians, Hittite) heck, could even be the Special Bible edition. Still some possibilities.

My greatest challenge was boredom (the original game). The difficulty level, you can adjust by your choice of henchman. If you take the monk with a deathwish, it plays like Dungeonsiege. If you take the thief, you are in for some serious challenge (the AI might have a bit to do with that too). If you've played Kotor, you've seen the advanced version of the story, if not, no spoilers in saying it's dungeoncrawl, fetch four objects, bring back, repeat etc.. If you need more of a challenge, play a spell caster, the menu system is a real killer then I bought the gold box set (the original plus the first expansion), so I ended up completing 3 of 4 chapters of the original and uninstalled it. Couldn't be persuaded to try Hordes of Underdark. There does however seem to be some agreement from various sources that the last expansion is actually a decent game, storywise and otherwise

Wow, it only took 1 (one!) reply to derail this thread. That should at least be a tie for the record (yet to see a thread derailed in the thread creation)

Thats the fun with PC's (w00t) So many variables that affect performance. What CPU and Gfx card are you running. Especially the latter can have significant impact your games (when you already have 1 gig of memory)

Games just came, which do I play first?Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console Regarding your little "problem", yes, there are solutions to that in the game, but way harder to get than in your average BG game. But it is in there... Combat is generally easy after you reach a few levels, you don't need the proficiencies that much, unless you want to bash your way through the game I would say, do what you feel like. Not much help, but you really should just experience the game

Impressions after completing the game as a male Malkavian, female Nosferaty (she was just too sexy to ignore), male Toreador, male Tremere (and currently playing a male Ventrue)... It's a rollercoaster of good and bad, with the good winning out overall. The combat sucked big time. This means, the last part of the game sucked as it was all combat and very little roleplaying. The atmosphere was great, if they could just figure out how to use the engine, I might even have been able to enjoy it in something other than 800x600 pixels. Voice acting was the best I've heard in any game. The experience/skill/ability/feat system was nice (I'm not a PnP player, so I've no idea if it was true to some kind of purists ideals). The player dialogue is AWFUL in places, especially when dealing with M. Strauss. Your typical case of a quite good game that could have been awesome with better QA, better use of the engine (assuming that it can do better than this) and dropping the incredibly boring combat from the last part of the game

Congratulations on Screwing it up ObsidianGorth replied to Caelib's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion :D Somebody has a twisted sense of humour. As stable and as well as the first... The game was unplayable unless you exited it at two places in particular and started tweaking settings and resolutions. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to complete it, and that was after the 1.03 patch :("

Aww come on, everybody knows about the Hercules LUM-1138 with USB interface... Or not. Sorry, never heard of "external" graphics adapters

Games just came, which do I play first?Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console Well, as number guy said, get rid of the FAQ. You've got one important stat in the game, thats wisdom. Rest is there for variation and flavour About the mausoleum, I didn't even know you could go there without getting the quest Once you get rid of the big bad skeleton, be prepared to meet his brother (and later yet an evil overlord, and then... j/k). You could eventually save them for later and then come back with an additional NPC to help with the fighting. One final tip, death is not the end With a few exceptions, getting yourself killed in combat has no more consequences than having to walk back to the battlefield.

Interesting legal situation. Who actually owns the story, especially if it's unpublished ? Interplay probably had/has the rights to the design documents, but if the story has never been published with or a © or a ® notice ? Just curious

Games just came, which do I play first?Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console It's a dead end! Sorry, couldn't resist that one. Is it the quest you get from the dustman in the bar ? In that case, it's a simple dungeon crawl. Kill anything that moves and don't save your buff charms for later, you won't really need them that much later.

Games just came, which do I play first?Gorth replied to Child of Flame's topic in Computer and Console No idea what Soulbringer is, but try Fallout 1 before Fallout 2. Apart from that, any order of the games that suits your mood

KOTOR 2 X-Box or PC version?Gorth replied to AromisTallion's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion Yes, and mine is bigger than yours  Voted PC, as that is the only version playable on the hardware I got. The x-box is sort of feminine looking isn't it ?

That guy really knew how to throw a party. They just don't do it like they used to anymore I didn't recognise half of the "celebrity" names on the list it showed me for my part.

What era do most of your favorite titles come fromGorth replied to Zach Morris's topic in Computer and Console I think you missed the point of the question... it wasn't what era the best titles were released, but what era your favourite titles were released (which includes adjustment for first impressions, nostalgia etc.) No. I didn't miss the point. I equate quality with favorites. I would bet money that most people do, as well, but nostalgia is, as I said, the killer of reasoning. People play newer games over older games because they're better. to me, if you would rather play Ninja Gaiden 2004 over the original, yet claim the original is your favorite, you're being irrational. Thats your choice. Doesn't make it wrong or right for other people to consider some older titles superior to recent games, especially if you value gameplay, game balance and similar over presentation. When all is said and done, when I put things like BG2, PS:T and Kotor aside, I pick up my emulator and play games like Doomdarks Revenge and a couple of old SSI titles because the mechanics and most importantly, the fun in those games are superior.

Just like Baldurs Gate II took place in Baldurs Gate...

You know what, you teacher is right Anyway, if it is just oppinions/world view you want... A particularly successful combination of genes. To the best of my knowledge, only ****roaches and rats are doing better. To mutate, evolve and procreate (a fancy word for having children). See above. Live long, be successful, get a bunch of kids. You terminate the experiment that was your particular gene combination and make room for the next revision of the gene pool. Observing nature. They look for other ways to explain things. A significant spiritual experience. Nothing that other humans could do to me. Good luck with your assignment
