Most hated Star Wars character
Gorth replied to Topaz Quasar's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Which "muppet" do you remember in perticular? I have a vague memory of some big blue elephant thing playing a keyboard...wasn't that in Jabba's palace? This could even be a new poll... Come to think of it, could have been his Yacht, it's a long time since I saw that one the last time Edit: It was a band and a singer, very much like the Muppets and IIRC, Jabba had a pet muppet too, fondling Jabbas tail or whatever. -
Who do you think should/will make KOTOR 3?
Gorth replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not a fan of the Unreal engine, I take it? Oh, I love a good shooter I played Unreal 2 several times as well as Pain Killer and Red Faction, a much under rated game. I would just like somebody to make crpgs too, not only shooters with a bit of story and rpg elements thrown in for good measure. For some reason, Doom was never my thing and never got into Halflife, so I can't really say why some of them catches my interest and why others don't. -
Most hated Star Wars character

In order of suckitude: Ewoks, Jar Jar and Hayden Christensen... Honourable mention: The muppet show in Jabbas palace, droids and gungangs in general from Episode I onwards. -
Who do you think should/will make KOTOR 3?
Gorth replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Let LA have it themselves. I would prefer Obsidian to use their time on other new things, if not completely new setting, then at least some relatively unexplored one (as far as crpgs go). Of course, reading that their next game might be powered by an Unreal engine, I did lose interest in whatever they might come up with next, so... Back to playing PS:T and BG2 again -
It isnt a wussy, annoying one? Hmm, now that you mention it. Yes >_

SW Movies: Do you like the good ol' ones best or
Gorth replied to Bounce's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The new "movies" are just infomercials to support the merchandise. -
You might want to check out Motor Psycho, one girl survives in that one

Is Anyone A Bastila/Carth/Revan Trio Fan?
Gorth replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Not really. Didn't like Carth that much, although he was tolerable. Bastila spent as lttle time in my party as possible, so most travelling around was with Jolee and either Mission or Canderous, depending on what I needed (skills or muscle). A shame that neither Jolee nor Mission survived -
Depends on the risk involved. If they are gambling their future on the next shippable product from an unknown developer, in a stagnant market they deserve what they get. They are no longer competent (in the publishing business) and have begun gambling, for that is all it is.They might get lucky or they might... whatever it is where Herve is now. I would sell my stock if I had any in such a publisher and invest in a company that split the risk between safe bets (most of the funding) and manageable risks (the gain might be considerable, but the most likely outcome, losses, can be written off without endangering your existence).

I wonder if anybody ever thought about the possibility that Volourn might be right ? There is a subtle but important difference in the success of games and developers. Games are mostly (there are exceptions like Bethesda) a joint venture between publishers and developers, making both contribute to the success or failure of a game. However, a developer is the only one truly responsible for itself (bar hand of god, earthquakes and weird election results), through the choices it makes, the products it develops, the recruitment strategy, the market positioning, the technology it masters, skills, whatever and amongst the most important things the connections it forms to publishers which is a sum of what it has to offer, lobbying, greasing and how it generally sells itself. A successful developer not only makes good products, it also sells itself well and vice versa.

I would have waited for a finished game
Gorth replied to camus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
There are sort of two sides to the thing. If storyline elements gets cut because the schedule was changed, both developer and publisher shares responsibility. It's only my own suspicions, but I do suspect that LA was hurting financially (why else cut their own in-house development) and offered a deal that was pretty irresistable (a carrot and stick combo, make a lot of bucks or we'll make your life miserable for a long time) if the game could ship for xmas instead of it's planned release date. The entirely technical issues is the responsibility of the Publisher, because in this case they are the ones doing both the QA and the decision when it's ready to ship. Probably wouldn't have hurt to have a few more games trying different paths through the game and on a few more different hardware combos. I still liked the game though, although in my replays I stop playing after -
(Evil Overlord grin:) *Muahahah* Come to me all ye numbers, unite under my banner... Numbers from all domains and disciplins shall march forth... Integers, rationals, negatives, complex numbers, endless columns of marching primes shall pour forth and the world shall tremble under the weight of numbers... For behold, there is strength in numbers and nothing shall stand against endless numbers...

Erhh... (thinking) It's mostly work and very little gaming these days When I do have a bit of time, it's mostly the "two's". A game in progress of BG2, Kotor2, Jagged Alliance 2 and just recently finished Master of Orion 2 for the umpteenth time " Before the current games in progress, it was Disciples 2, Fallout 2 and Pirates! (just to ruin the "two" system of my gaming) Once I finish my game of BG2, I might go back and try a new party in IWD2.

Not sure if it was meant as a joke or not, but you do have a point. If the choice is between the two shown covers, B is definitely the "Comic" book cover, whereas A is... dunno, game box cover art from the late eighties. However, if you really want to sell, you do need T&A on your cover and that means some completely unrealistic proportioned red head wearing little more than bodypaint. Sex sells, simple as that

By the same logic, Jennifer Hale is only a half decent actress since all she contributes is the voice...

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Gorth replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Looks great (w00t) What are your release plans (not release dates) ? Are you going to release it in parts as each self contained part of the project finishes, or are you going to release it as one big mod once you feel there is nothing more to be accomplished with it ? (sort of hoping for releasing individual parts as they are finished :"> ) -
Good question, e would definitely have been a natural number to include. Come to look at it, he does seem like a racist, only positive integers are represented >_
