  1. They are called "Security Contractors". A flattering name for mercenaries and hired killers Check the "Soldier of Fortune" magazine...
  2. The T1000 corporation...
  3. ^_^ Edit: Iirc, you get xp points for it.
  4. Are you using the hi-res textures? Nope. Unless some are included in the 1.03 patch. The GFX card on the computer I'm using could be the problem but it never gave me any problem before. I don't think it has all the features of normal gaming card like shaders and stuff. But I can still run Oblivion and pretty mcuh everything else. I don't know, it's wierd. It was just because you mentioned that it ruined your saved games. I remember someone, although not exactly who, hinted at a link between the corrupt save feature and running with highres textures
  5. You and Hades/Visc/Sand/Whatever should start a support group where you cold talk about that particular awful experience :D
  6. I'm sure there must be laws to protect people against that gunk in other countries
  7. It's a lost cause, like fighting dust on your monitor... When I got a floppy drive for my C64, I thought I could have all the programs in the world on one floppy (later on a doublesided floppy when I found out to hack the disks with a small scissor)... When I got an Amiga, I thought I could have all the software in the world on those humongous 1.7Mb floppy disks... When I got a 100mb hd for my Amiga I thought I could have all the software for not only the amiga, but for my pc and c64 emulator in the world on my hd... When I got a pc with a 200mb hd, I thought I could at least have Windows and a few programs... When I got a pc with 300gb I thought I could have all the software I would ever need on it... My current WIP, I intend to equip with 4x500gb drives, it might just be able to squeeze Windows Vista in there... meh, nevermind. Morale is, will I ever learn? You can never have too much disk space.
  8. He may be good looking but he's not pretty like a Toreador. What do I know
  9. I'm not even going to try to stick the correct "genre" labels on my tastes... German music: Accept, Scorpions, Dorothee Pesh, Rammstein. UK music: Beatles, Iron Maiden, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Black Sabbath, Sisters of Mercy, The Cult, Portishead, Deep Purple, old Fleetwood Mac, Mike Oldfield. US music: Madonna, Kiss, WASP, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, new Fleetwood Mac. Misc others: Loreena McKennitt, Clannad, Gregorian music, Cruachan, Brahms, The Russian Red Army Choir, Vaya Con Dios. And probably 50 more that I can't be bothered to try to categorise. The UK bands do seem to take up a disproportinate space in my CD collection
  10. Heh? Nines Rodriguez is anything but what u'v mentioned up there. Pretty civilized cat if you ask me. He did seem more like a Toreador. Is it only Brujahs that can be anarchs? I managed to fall through the footpath in Chinatown. Very fitting surreal experience for my male Malkavian
  11. Well for that, you can flip the screen sideways for an uber portrait view, I don't know how many widescreen LCDs support it, but my Dell one does It's a bit awkward with my current laptop... But I am coincidentally looking for a new monitor myself (because I gave the old one away when moving from New Zealand to Australia), so I'm quite curious about other peoples recommendations I was actually looking for a new TV as well and decided that plasma screens were preferable (for me) over LCD's because I'm not happy with the colour management in the latter.
  12. Umm, which work software? Programs like Word and Excel benefit from the extra real-estate. Hmm... Visual Studio, Microsoft Business Solutions, Various imaging software, various 3D applications, Web design (where you also feel the lack of intensive colours/colour correctness), plenty of stuff that makes more sense to work with in "portrait" rather than "landscape" orientation really @ "Cantousent": By all means, go for the best picture quality. Preferably, you could see a reseller where they have them lined up for comparison. A word of caution though if you do that. Sometimes, they deliberately manipulate image quality in order to sell a certain make a model (actually, that was a warning from my little brother who works for reseller). You don't have to buy from that reseller, just do some window shopping and then buy the one you like where you get it the cheapest
  13. I've got two issues with LCD's... they have crappy colours (compared to CRT's in a similar price range) and they seem to be mostly available in widescreen format now, which suck when you need it for work purposes, not only for watching dvds/divx movies
  14. Funny... the game (The Hobbit) was the reason why I read the book. I just couldn't figure out how to solve some of the puzzles and in the end, I decided "A what the heck!" and read the book. I completed the game and became a Tolkien fan at the time. Off to tbhe library to see what that guy else had written.
  15. It isn't really "public" as you can't find it with the official updater tool. I think it's mostly for the geeks who hang around message boards and look for the information and availability of patches. Who knows, they might or might not listen to the feedback they get from the voluntary beta testers
  16. The Beeb was the best 8 bit computer ever. Unfortunately it never got the software support it deserved (I had one too for a while) :'(
  17. Isn't the use of counterfeit money a federal offense? :D
  18. Awsesome I wonder if it could be turned into a SWAT type weapon... Bad guy hiding behind concrete wall? No problem, aim the Tarna device in his direction and hit the "On" switch. He should be medium rare in 60 seconds Edit: @Jorian: Hey, the Hungarians are famous for their umbrella technique
  19. The defacto homepage of the greatest computer game ever made, "Lords of Midnight": http://www.icemark.com/tower/index.html
  20. Wouldn't it also destroy the microwave? ^_^ Perhaps they (the Canadians) were trying to flood the market slowly. If all coins ended up having transmitters, there would be nowhere to hide. The masters of industrial espionage would suddenly be the ones spied upen  Edit: Can we have Hans Island when you are done mauling the canadians?
  21. Some sea slugs have tentacles... wouldn't that qualify as arms?
  22. Gorth

    IQ test..

I'm getting too old for this...
  23. I hope he finishes it in NWN2. I for one would like to try it (and there is a snowballs chance in hell, that I would buy an expansion for NWN1 to be able to play it)
  24. No self respecting Malkavian would know what he was talking about
