  1. *Cough*Unreal 3 engine*Cough* I should play SoZ some day. It's been lying around on my shelf for a long time now. Need to beat Dead Space first though.
  2. Tsk, tsk, tsk... I don't know of such a virus, but considering that I can reprogram and reflash my bios from Windows without even rebooting it, I can't see why it shouldn't be possible to create virus that makes itself at home there. If your hardware supports overclocking through software, maybe excessive speed settings might hurt your hardware if cooling is insufficient? No idea. These days, I normally malicious web code the greatest threat. As for identifying your motherboard, I think most of them has the make and model number printed on the board itself, although it might be on the "other" side (i.e. taking it out physically might be necessary). Depending on what you have, you might be able to hard reset it or even reflash it from a usb stick. Documentation is usually available on the manufacturers website once you identify it. DN got the right idea about your HD, although you don't need a linux system for it, just make sure you attach it as a secondary drive to a system with an up to date virus/trojan scanner. If it finds nothing, odds are, it might be something else that is causing your system to malfunction. What are the symptoms? No post?
  3. Thats what you get for modding your torpedoes, no warranty for you!
  4. Spoken like a true Ogre Bull I'll defer to your superior experience and expertise on the subject I find a brothel no worse and no better than have, say an arena? People whacking or maiming each other to please the crowds... Gorths rule of thumb, if it feels natural that it is there for the story/setting, it's all good. If it feels artificial because somebody decided it had to be there, even if stuck to the rest of the game with blu-tac, not so good.
  5. Arghh... spoiler tags! Yes, I really should go see the library. Maybe this weekend...
  6. Just sitting and wondering about the etymology of the word handkerchief. The word "hand" sort of implies a smaller, can be operated by hand, version of a kerchief, whatever that is. I could of course look it up with the help of Google, but then again, I started thinking about what people did in the past when needing information. It struck me that I haven't visited a library for ages. I know they had libraries in New Zealand, I am sure this country has them too. Maybe I should look up one some day. I miss reading books (besides the usual paperback junkfood).
  7. Are we talking about the same Witcher game? Can't really say I noticed the loading times
  8. Well, just filling them up doesn't do it, so I guess I need to train them to a minimum level, say Veteran (blue) or something? Sounds like Hitman is going to work overtime in my next game
  9. A question for the JA2 1.13 gurus out there. As far as I can see from the readme's and the configuration file in the 1.13 data folder, it looks like you, the player, should be able to train "roaming" patrols. Is that just me reading it wrong? If not, how do you do it?
  10. Woooo, a convert! Well, this and War in Russia were both made by Gary Grisby (as well as the upcoming War in the East - 2010). I meant Pacific War of course Yeah, started out by playing the old "Flat Top" board game from Avalon Hill. It went downhill from there. As for War in the East... (need a drooling icon), one of my most anticipated games in a long time. Has anybody by any chance played "War plan Orange"? I could use a review (sounds like an interesting game focussing on ship vs. ship action without air forces playing a major role). Otherwise, I'll just sit here and lick the screen when Alan posts his AAR detail while trying to catch up with the game mechanics on my end
  11. I found Malkavian to be the hardest to complete the game with, since they aren't really well equipped for "boss fights". I had to side with Ming to complete the game The ending of that playthrough made me chuckle though, rather unexpected. My favourite playthrouh was as a Nosferatu. A very different game experience, not just a change of dialogue
  12. I suppose you could say they both apply pressure on your neck/throat when used. The Guillotine is just a bit messier (and harder to smuggle through customs).
  13. Sounds like the subject is somewhat past it's "Best By" date... Sharing other peoples work without their consent isn't really the nice thing to do. As for why people don't want their work shared, the reasons could be many I suppose, but that is a discussion for another day.
  14. They just don't make them like they used to I've got an old Commodore Amiga with a 100Mb Seagate harddrive. 15 years later, the drive still runs without any hiccups.
  15. I'll give it a serious go on Sunday, probably the only day I have some peace and quiet. Really looking forward to have a go at it. Even if I get my butt handed to me in beginning
  16. A submarine sunk after a torpedo hit... there is a certain irony in there somewhere
  17. "The Plant bears a strong resemblance to the popular caricature of the absentminded professor-inventor " Why does that make me think of Walsingham? One more of my Samsung harddrives has decided to crash and burn on me, bad sectors popping up at an exponential rate. Unfortunately the which my C:\ drive resides on. Been busy saving what could be saved from other partitions and then it gets the kick. 3 Samsung drives, 3 drives that became unusable in less than 12 months. I can't even be bothered with the warranty anymore, they simply go to the rubbish bin. And I get the joy of reinstalling Windows. Maybe now is a good time to try out the version 7 RC
  18. Words of wisdom We pulled a prank once on a fellow student at university. One guy left his work station unattended for a while and somebody (not me) modified his logout script to send cheesy love letters to a list of female students. It took a while for him to realise why he was getting an increasing number of hostile stares when walking around
  19. This decade ends in 5 months, doesn't it?
  20. "All your battleship are belong to us!" Downloading at the moment. I wonder if I'll survive the game until the printed manual arrives (bought the download+physical box)...
  21. I am not exactly financially challenged, but I do worry about the time I am going to spend on it. Still having flashbacks to the time I bought EU III It sounds exactly like the kind of game I would like. Need a replacement for War in Russia and War in the Pacific (old SSI dos games available for free from Matrix games website).
  22. First salvo... B3 - C4 - D5! Ok, maybe not Dammit, I am getting more and more interested in this game, not at least after reading your previous threads. I really don't have the time, but... Eek! Time to go shopping at Matrix Games I think.
  23. You are missing the entire point Tigranes... It is about how to troll. A good troll can insult people without without them knowing it, a young and inexperienced troll needs to debate and obfuscate the intentions by a debate on semantics And a couple of the old timers... sheesh, eating hook, worm, sink and all ...and with that, it seems like the original subject has been buried in the sands of time.
  24. Doesn't the dragon get suspicious when you start fishing around for info on how to damage it?
  25. I don't quite know what you are talking about, but isn't just adding something like: [img=www.kingofsquid.com/mygallery/forumimages/salamando.gif] To your signature? Replace the url between the img tags with a proper url and not my made up one.
