  1. We still love you
  2. The Turkish strategy seems to come straight out of the WWII history books, where the Soviets pulled the same stunt with the Polish Partisans in Warsaw. Waiting on the other side of the river for the Germans and the Polish to wipe each other out and then scoop up the "price" after most of the killing is done.
  3. Got the canned robot response to my help request. Yay. I guess i have to use the phone. Anyway, since I did the preorder (twice), I decided to try it out. It was surreal. My healer sage went from Level 35 to 38 in less than 25 minutes. I think I'm going to say "/&%$§ this" to the end game content and ground my 6 level 55 tanks (one of each advanced tank class) for a long time. Partly to allow me to level up alts and partly because I expect Bioware to screw over players again with gear Inflation, making all the hard earned top gear the new second rate gear again. Just not worth the effort trying to keep up. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
  4. No. I probably liked him better before the Qunari turned into D&D Minotaurs, but overall, I think the most memorable (read: those whose company i preferred) would be Varric and Zevran (from the first game) with Isabella as the runner up.
  5. It starts with a non skippable dream sequence where [CHARNAME] meets Shepard for a guided tour through ME1-3 and you can adjust your memory to previous choices... Game starts in a blur of red, green and blue colour as you make your final choice just before a Reaper foot stomps you flat (insert blaring Sound of War of the Worlds tri-pod horn here).
  6. 1) Not sure. I had happily repressed the Memory of Kai Leng until some /&%$§ brought up the name in the rant thread. Thank you very much >_ 2) No point in speculating at the moment. 3) Following the usual formula of easy game play, T&A and ego-stroking epicness, it will probably do enough to keep share holders happy.
  7. I went ahead and pre-ordered... twice. Yeah, stupid, i know. Put through the first order and instead of a thank you for the order message, i got a Website error telling me the site was experiencing too much traffic, I should try again later. I did that literally, put the order through again 20 minutes later and this time it showed my receipt on the webpage. Just to get home in the evening and see two mailed order confirmations (I dont have access to my home mail from work), thanking me for the $19.99 paid through my credit card. Off to contact customer support and ask for a refund for one of the two orders
  8. My views are the same, the attitude the same, my position on issues the same. I probably talk a lot more on forums, using a lot more words than I would verbally. Never was good at smalltalk or casual conversations.
  9. I think I got a handful alts on other servers I'm going to play. 12x xp bonus (for class mission only) and free skill training... would be a crime not to play at least some toons through the class mission only to try some variety instead of just the boring L55 grind with the old ones.
  10. I consider the Mass Effects series "Lite" Entertainment, the kind get from a Steven Seagal movie (with all the "depth" of a such). Hence, not sure if there is a point of an indepth analysis. It basically boils down to, what did i like and what did i not like in each installment. Summary of memories for each game: ME1: Had the best combat and felt the least restrictive. Minigames sucked big time and companions were forgettable. Bioware still had this idea that their space opera games needed jailbait in the form of blue skinned alien children for people to have a crush on. ME2: Minigames still sucked big time and now the combat sucked too. Redeeming factor was more interesting companions and a larger variety in the mission types, even if the linearity of each mission would give a mathematician wet dreams. ME3: Combat still sucked, but at least most of the minigames were gone and only that hovercraft Thing remained. Yay!!! Companions were a mixed bag and the beginning of the game was such a turn off, that I needed three runups to finally stick with the game. Middle part was quite (i would even say "very") good and the ending is in hard competition with Kotor2 for the title of most messy video game ending. I did like the DLC's by the way, generally adding interesting things to the game (not the item dlc's, but those with companion/story elements). I would heck out ME4 if a such were to be released some day. PS: Dear Bioware, when can we have a patch for ME3 that lets us skip those horrible, useless "dream sequences" with the stupid child? I really wanted to let that Reaper just squish him right away and be rid of that completely unneccesary element.
  11. Long story got longer Closed according to tradition
  12. Start of old thread End of old thread "Im Westen nichts Neues." - Trench warfare continued. ... My inner sexist is going to very upset if they start campaigning for video games without chainmail bikinis But i guess that was not the line of the current discussion.
  13. Played a handful of flashpoints before the Weekend, gearing up my assassin tank. It sort of covered the entire scale from friendly and pleasant to me "abusing" tank status to kick above mentioned attitude Problems ruining the run for everyone else. On the positive end of the scale (Hardmode CZ Meltdown), despite getting a lightweight (gear, not skill) healer, we got two DPS that were better geared than some countries intelligence Services. Top of the line equipment. Checking Achievements, I guessed they very much "knew their stuff" too. No matter who I would put guard on, the other guy would be able to rip aggro off me at will, so I pretty much said so in Chat. we got a good laugh at that Kind of luxury Problem and agreed they would either just dump aggro or pull boss to right place until I could reacquire it. Smooth run from start to end, guys were as good as i guessed. Same place, same difficulty, different day and pug Group. Had another low geared (mercenary) healer, but unlike the above, not a lot skill. Has a lot of Problems already at the sandstorm beast, despite us downing the boss after two and a half Generator, None of us has more than 10-15% health left (and various defensive measures and self healfs, med packs etc. on cooldown). Even worse with the Vrblter fight... i didnt even think it was possible to wipe on that one, yet we did several times. Explanation after second wipe "You kept LOS'ing me" (losing line of sight). Sure, we were all Standing in the middle of the effin Arena. Third time, he got eaten by adds, making a Point of running away from both where i could have taunted them and dodging the nice Orbital Bombardment that one the DPS guys fired off. That was by the way the first time I noticed him moving from the spot at all, way to go. Real killer was when one of the DPS lost Connection for 60 seconds and then reconnected. Instead of raising him, the "healer" decided to start a vote kick. Needless to say, kick didn't get any votes, the following vote kick sent the "healer" packing right away though. Some people should have stayed in bed that day Had some similar sad stories from a lowbie vanguard tank I'm leveling up, but in the level 35 range I'm just way more patient and tolerant with peoples antics. In Level 55 HM's, i do expect People to meet Minimum requirements in gear and in particular in knowing their role (not the fp mechanics, but their class and the role they queue for). Now off to practise with my new L55 Guardian tank on Oricon again. Solo runs of the heroics are quite educational in teaching you to get the most out of your available skills.
  14. A couple of patches late though... from patch notes 2.9: •Nefra, Who Bars The Way has a new “Frustrated Howl” ability, and now deals damage to all players participating in her Dread Fortress encounter if she reaches 80% health and is unable to reach a target. I.e. rather than trying to prevent people from getting Nefra stuck, they made it a suicide move trying to do so.
  15. Explain this to me. Explain this to me. They tried to fix it so many times and failed (its a very old bug). Last patch they had a fix too in the patch notes. It's exploiting a bug that means you can 3 man 16m NiM (any mode actually) Nefra without breaking a sweat, just a bit of patience, wait for him to die and scoop up the loot drops. No skill required. As said, probably old fashioned, but i would like to know when I clear HM (for now) content, it's because I've acquired the skill to do so.
  16. (insert hysterical laughter here) Yeah, there really are some atrociously bad personalities (not even talking skill, just attitude) amongst the pug crowds. Quit the guild that my main characters were members of for a while. Call me old fashioned, but when the People I was supposed to run HM Ops with spend more time farming the NiM Nefra exploit and become way overgeared (not talking about trying it once or twice to satisfy curiosity, but farming it weekly on all their alts) rather than actually getting better at playing the game, you know you have a Problem. time to cut losses and see if it's possible to find people who prefer to learn and progress at the same time.
  17. Just wondering how fast we can push through the moderator replacement program without it being too obvious that the ultimate goal is an all danish mod squad
  18. I *think* bought a handful of games from a discount shelf, 3 old games of questionable quality (and never installed) for $10. "Real" purchase was... NWN2 Deluxe Edition (with maps, rings etc.), The Witcher (big box Edition with art books etc.) or Fallout 3 (for like $15 with all DLC's included). Cant really remember which one was last. Probably not NWN2. Edit: Yeah, I think NWN2 is somewhat older, got it somewhere around the same time i got STALKER (SoC) I think (the version with metal lunchbox and other goodies)
  19. The most manly of men...
  20. Don't get me started on what Bioware did with Kreia... that was beyond embarrassing. I would recommend that writer to start writing under a pseudonym Right... I remember reading something about that buff on Makeb. Sort of a Bolster "Light Version". I guess i should finish it at least once on Republic side. Edit: Since I enjoy playing healer on my operative, I started levelling up a sage and a sorcerer, both healers. The latter aptly named 'Malpractise'. I got the Rakghoul Event currency to get him the Diseased Varactyl (or was that infected?) next time the event comes around
  21. I didnt check the one bedroom apartments to be honest, but something that is large enough for the container full furniture on its way, monthly rent is about 1200-1500 Euros depending on suburb.
  22. Heh, I'm still technically homeless. Finding an Apartment or a townhouse in Berlin is harder by a Magnitude than in Australia. Biggest obstacle is not having a history (which you don't have for obvious reasons after 4 weeks in a new country). Ah well, some day I'll get a roof over my head and not live in the hotel special offer the day/week.
  23. Had one of those for a number of years. Not 100% sure if it's the exact same model, but it Looks the same (was a Microsoft IntelliMouse according to the label on the backside) and had 5 Buttons. Best mouse I've ever had since starting to use a mouse on my Amiga 500 in the late 80's. Edit: My current Steelseries Sensei is nice too, but I will always remember that old MS Mouse fondly.
  24. Just speculating, but maybe they have been burnt once too many by projects suffering from feature creep and deadlines being a "nice concept" rather than something to strive for?
  25. CZ doesn't really have much in the way of Story. An intro dialogue and a debriefing after the Titans of Industry mission (which is just doing the 2 flashpoints, labs and meltdown one after the other). Have you done Makeb? It was mildly interesting the first time, but subsequent toons was just boring because it's the same story for all classes, only the factions are different. Several of my imperial toons have only done "enough" (the first little bit) to unlock the taxi to the mesa with Toborros Courtyard (on Republic side it's immediately accessible). Edit: Come to think of it, I haven't actually bothered finishing it yet on any Republic toons. The high mob density and immediate grind just turned me off at the time of release.
