  1. Still waiting... and waiting... to see if Intels skylake chipset is any good (and if it will hit the market this year). PC needs an upgrade, but I'm not going to bother with the 97 chipset. Edit: Just some tidbits for good measure about the chipset itself Link "we'll see a new '100-series' chipset, codenamed Sunrise Point. The Z170 will be the replacement for Z97, which itself was not a massive upgrade from Z87. It will feature more PCIe lanes (up to 20), SuperSpeed USB and motherboards will likely have 10 USB ports as standard. There will also be up to three SATA Express ports. " "The H170 chipset will - unsurprisingly - replace the H97 for mainstream PCs, while the H110 will be the 'value' offering, replacing the H81 and various other chipsets."
  2. @Bruce: One mans inclusiveness is another mans catering for lowest common denominator. As somebody who enjoyed the "middle half" of ME3 and didn't even bother looking at reviews of DA:I, I probably fall in the latter category. It's like they got the point where you *feel* that their games are developed from analyzing their datamining, working of checklists with flavour of the year gimmicks and general mandatory subjects that has to be covered in order to cover the largest multifaceted demographic as possble (translation: maximizing revenue). It feels less inspired and more like games developed by committee. Nice visuals, but short on visions. [/grumpy old man]
  3. I think the last Battlefield game I liked and played was Battlefield Vietnam Which reminds me, I need to reinstall Battlefield 1942 (and the Road to Rome expansion again). I suddenly feel like playing it
  4. The modding scene and QA seems to be two ways that people sometimes get a foot in the door so to speak. Usually after having put in the long hours, lots of patience, lots of skill and lots of perseverance has been shown
  5. Isn't it sort of in line with Biowares trend of Charname either belonging to or working for some "Chose One" group? Whether they be Jedi, Children of Bhaal, N7, Grey Wardens or whatever? Usually some kind of elite or extrajudicial group.
  6. Getting close to solve one of the great mysteries of the universe? Why you can't tickle yourself "Since Blakemore’s ground-breaking studies, many others have tried to find ways to find ways to trick the brain into tickling itself. Controlling someone’s foot movements with magnetic brain stimulation, so that their hand tickled their foot against their will, seems to do the trick. But it is one of the few experiments to succeed – others have produced puzzling results." Forcing people to tickle themselves... talk about cruel and unusual punishment Also covers some possible implications for Artificial Intelligence research.
  7. Not playing "now", but going to play Wasteland 2 tonight. Finally got around to get my old desktop PC working and finding the old firefox shortcuts, including the one to the ranger center and the rewards page. Picked one Steam and one Gog key
  8. I never played the game through GWFL. I bought it, installed it, uninstalled it right away when it asked for GWFL credentials (so its just sitting there on my steam account atm).
  9. Lets try finding a way to post that is less abusive towards other posters... I hate when having to find the big scissors for cutting out posts.
  10. Hmm, I could have sworn I saw a note on Steam not long ago, that the GFWL had been patched out of that one (finally). I might actually reinstall it and give it a second shot [/OFF TOPIC]
  11. Can't really help much there, never played the game before. Love your writing style though Somewhat unrelated, but wasn't there once upon a time an "aging" part to the haste spell? In general it should only be cast on long lived characters as they wouldn't feel the loss as keenly.
  12. This. It's not like "domestic" terrorism is new to Europeans. It's been a part of daily life and the news since at the latest, the early seventies. Italian and German "Red Brigades", anarchists, seperatists in Spain, France and the UK, assorted nut jobs having visions, you name it.
  13. Arguments on the internet often reminds me of this (for better or for worse)... http://youtu.be/kQFKtI6gn9Y
  14. The 80's were a good time I remember liking the trilogy though, having read the books and not just watching the cover art Never could find the game, so thanks for posting and sharing. I got a bit of catching up to do, needing to go back to 20th of December and then read through your story, so thanks for all the work you are putting into it.
  15. I already got the game (and Warlock 2), but just wanted to say no turnbased fan should be without this game. Not quite HoMM3, but awesome in its own way.
  16. Thread necromancy! (or the secret life of the search function) Hitlers Secret Weapon Nazi Cows "A farmer in Devon has been forced to slaughter half his herd of Heck cows after they repeatedly tried to attack his farm workers. Farmer Derek Gow said that the Heck cow descended from cattle specifically bred by Nazi scientists between the world wars. The Heck cow was renowned for its fearsome horns and extremely aggressive nature. " Bovine undercover agents? Cow catapults firing insidious ordinance at the UK during WWII?
  17. Not gay Revan romance, but somebody somewhere seems too enamoured of a character that should have died with Kotor 1&2. Spoiler for those who havent gotten the expansion yet.
  18. "Pugnare **** caseum et caseum" (Pseudo Latin) The 2nd edition ruleset generally felt like playing a game of rock, paper and scissor. The expansion just reinforced the feeling. Edit: Stupid word filter
  19. Several pages of going in circles indeed and no sign of the tone getting any less unfriendly or less personal. Maybe some other thread some other time...
  20. I've been playing with the IKEA kitchen planner. Since I need to buy a new kitchen, that seemed the easiest way to not screw up too badly. It's actually pretty neat and warns you against the most glaring errors before you commit yourself to them Yeah, Germans are funny like that, like turtles, they pack up their entire household when they move, that sometimes include everything not welded, cast or superglued to the apartment.
  21. High level play sucks. Plain and simple. Peasants armed with +3 swords... please stop??? Apart from the game mechanics being a disaster, it was a nice expansion. Story wasn't up to usual standards, but if i remember correctly, it was supposed to be a fully fledged sequel (3.0) and not an expansion (2.5). Somebody with better memory feel free to correct me and cure me of my delusions Other than that, what Enoch said.
  22. This (on both accounts). Got bored with the latest Tomb Raider 30 minutes into the game, haven't touched it since. TR:Anniversary still takes the prize as worst TR game ever though X-Com 3 Apocalypse is for me a game that captured the idea of the original X-Coms and did most things right. The new one is for me how its done wrong (hated the game, never finished it). Master of Orion 2 is for me another example of improving an original, Moo3 an example of how it's done wrong. So I can't really say that a new version of an old game is inherently better or worse, it simply depends on the game. When you have more than one reimagining, it starts getting really muddled (as per the fallout discussion, is 2 better than 1? is 3 better than 2? is FO:NV better than 3? Better than 2?) PS: Fun trivia, I've completed the original Tomb Raider twice since. Gog ftw!
  23. I started pruning this thread and realised I probably have to start deleting a lot and editing just as many posts... Lets see if it's possible to keep a thread alive. Which means, time to knock off the personal stuff and insults, open and implied alike.
  24. Last game I played (over the Christmas holidays) was actually not a computer game, but a "card game". Munchkin (with the need for steed expansion) by Steve Jackson games. It was hilarious
