  1. Gorth got laid off? Shady did. As for moving back, let's just say I missed the climate and the geckos No that answer is lacking in accurate information, Gorth please dont break your record by being laconic or nebulous with your views What do you mean by weather ? The UK only has good weather in summer...you knew that ? But why not go back to Denmark,,,,where do your friends live? In Oz I assume...so do you consider Oz your home ? You should know by now that I'm almost physically incapable of lying... not even the little white lies. Truth is indeed that i missed the pleasant climate here in the sub tropics. Denmark is even worse than the UK, being cold and miserable 11 months most years. As for "home" and friends... being an old introvert I never had a large social circle, a few good friends, several of which I've had for 2-3 decades are not deterred by a bit of geographical distance. Besides the weather, I just felt claustrophobic in Europe. Whether in Germany or the UK, it was like it didn't matter where you went, if felt like there were hordes of people everywhere and endless queues of cars, even on the smallest of country roads. I just needed to get back to a place where I can get away from people when I feel like it, open empty areas without any people nearby just an hour or two away.

  3. There is always another day...
  4. Start of old thread End of old thread Damn, sorry to hear Shady Pictures or it didn't happen... Found a roof over my head. Going to move in Friday next week. Just one more week to survive living in hotels. Better start looking for a some "emergency furniture". I.e. cheapest possible and disposable when I get my own stuff shipped back from Europe some day in a not so near future.
  5. Flexing my Tyrant muscles... More oppression here
  6. Start of old thread End of old thread Kicking off the new thread with the tail end of the old thread: --- Death and Taxes for all!
  7. As long as I don't have to live in the WH40K universe...
  8. Arrived in Australia. First thing I did after checking in (a serviced apartment), was to find my toothbrush and a convenience store where I could buy toothpaste and instant coffee. My teeth were growing hair as a result of not seeing a toothbrush since Thursday morning and my breath could probably work as shark repellant. Not going to sleep yet (even though I haven't slept a single hour since Wednesday night) as I want to swat two flies in one go and get jet lag over with at the same time... even if 48+ hours with no sleep makes me see things that aren't there :D Landing in Brisbane taught me one thing... Young people are very sensitive in a funny way. It had been a nice flight until we got below around 5000 feet (no meter display on the inflight status thingie, only feet) and then it got a slightly turbulent. Nothing at all that rattles a regular flier to and from Wellington (NZ) mind you, so I just thought it a hilarious roller coaster ride. All the jumping up and down meant that the pilot overshot the runway a bit (quite visible from the inside), so instead of braking he put the throttle on full and went for another pass at trying to hit the elusive runway. That's when I noticed the retching noises and people everywhere grasping for the paper barf bags. Seriously, never seen that much vomiting on a single plane before. It was a big plane of course, but seriously guys... you can't pay people to arrange that much entertainment for you and then not appreciate it
  9. Moved to this thread per Sorophx's request
  10. That is probably not going to stop RIAA from trying? From the same article: "The rescue comes just months after another SAS sniper killed two ISIS car bombers as they drove toward Libya. The sniper’s bullet went through the driver’s skull and into the passenger’s neck, taking both out.". The generals here in the UK has been moaning about defense cuts... looks they have to save on ammo too in the field
  11. Feeling a bit nostalgic... rock is the best cure sometimes Queen with Slash (Guns n' Roses) and Joe Elliott (Def Leppard) http://youtu.be/AasArumnUVs
  12. The poll is rigged... no 'Gorth' on the ballot
  13. What got me hooked on Tomb Raider in the first place was the sense of exploration and discovery. Loved going where no (wo)man had gone for centuries and sometimes beyond the games borders Tomb Raider 2 was fun too, albeit a very different game. At TR III, they had sort of lost their touch and it was too much linearity and puzzles. IV was the first I didn't complete (those were the days before cheats and tutorials widely available on the internet). I bought the... not sure what it's name is but the first one of the new generation of Tomb Raider (same visual style as the sceenshots from sorophx), but it's telling I don't even remember it's name (and dropped it after 10 minutes, never to pick it up again).
  14. If she loves cheddar cheese, odds are good she's a lizard. I know from personal experience that lizards go absolutely bonkers and forget all shyness when there is cheddar to be had.
  15. I suddenly realised how much I missed the good old 8 and 16 bit computer gaming days (when game play and ideas were priorities)
  16. It was a bit funny though (in a good way)
  17. "Classes have been simplified to make the game more approachable for new players." What new players? Just go ahead and rename it to Star Wars: The Sims Republic, already. Couldn't be any worse than what they've been doing since 4.0 dropped. A 5 level cap raise because that's right what's needed to look even more fabulous while you show off your neato CM gear on fleet, or "play" through the monthly 15-minute cutscene snoozefest. And yeah, shank tanks were fun, but it's about time they did something about that. Jugg "tanks" topping DPS in regs was ridiculous, and this is from a jugg tank player. But instead of fixing how the #1 mitigation stat is useless for PVP, they just up and nuke the layer of complexity provided by stance dancing. Worst of all is I'll probably throw at least 12€ their way to satisfy my morbid curiosity. Bah. Since everyone can throw guard on each other, there is probably not going to be any need for tanks at all in pvp anyway. Not that I do much pvp in the first place (did get one of my dvl toons to valour 10 for the achievment). The 5.0 changes looks like a mixed bag. At first I thought they had completely lost their sanity nerfing dps on assassins/sorcs only, but then I remembered that those figures are taken out of context. No idea how it's going to work together with the skill shuffling and utility remixes and who knows what other changes. Overall it sounds like a dreadfully boring solution they've thought up there. Dumbing down instead of making them more interesting. Not sure I'm going to bother with the new expansion to be honest. Grit my teeth today and finally finished chapter 16 on a second toon. Not looking forward to spend more time on that story arc. It might indeed be time to give the game a good long break.
  18. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time...
  19. Being an old lover of Rogue, Nethack,, Angband and what have you their likes, I bought "The Curious Expedition" today. It looked like it would be something just up my alley. If not, it wasn't expensive
  20. It's not the industry per se that worries the politicians. It's the financial services sector which makes up 78% of the GDP. The Brits are the true masters of Banking, making the Swiss look like amateurs. They've just been better at keeping a low profile and maintain their tax havens and general lack of transparency on the channel islands, London and Gibraltar. If they suddenly can't do all those less visible transactions without scrutiny through the already existing channels, it might cause more than just a few sleepless nights. They might even start frowning.
  21. The Danes on the forum are likely to disagree with your assessment
  22. ...winter is coming.
  23. Atari? You mean that company that went bankrupt a few years ago, and now they make online casino, and free phone apps Yes, the same company that wrestled the D&D IP from Interplay and killed off "The Black Hound" project. It's a strange world sometimes.
  24. Never really got into the user made content, so NWN1 died for me before reaching the 4th gadget you had to find (iirc, it had the same quest "structure" as Kotor, go to the 4 corners of the known world and collect something to save the known world from some unimaginable evil). It could also have been Aribeths (sp?) voice that put me off the game, so dropped the game at the start of the 4th chapter/phase/whatever. Did complete NWN2 2 or 3 times, but after that it was also the end for me. Probably my least favourite Obsidian game to date (disclaimer: never completed Alpha Protocol, 2 or 3 mini games later and I uninstalled that game again). Did enjoy both NWN2 expansions though. Nevver got the NWN1 ones, although I think I might get some of those bundles on GOG.
  25. Oh come on, how hard can it be. Just bang two rocks together and you have fire to keep yourself warm here Actually, not sure what people are used to on other boards. Lurking a bit on the Paradox forums every now and then, but that's about it (having done that since EU III was released).
