  1. We finally got a bit of fresh air in Melbourne to clear the smoke.... Australia fires: Victoria braces for severe storms https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-51165032
  2. Godwin's law is the Konstitution of Kanada
  3. ..l.ike a round table debate about democracy in The Third Reich, moderated by Goebbels?
  4. You first saw it here... monarchy to be reintroduced in the US. Soon both the Canadian and US dollars will have Elizabeth II on them Obviously joking, but if history has taught us anything, it's that nothing is permanent other than death and taxes.
  5. I've already posted a few of these (might be a duplicate, who cares? Too good not to share)... " Alhazred Said that is not dead which can eternal lie! The Arab said that is not dead for even death may die. For even death my die, my dear, for even death may die! Alhazred said that is not dead which can eternal lie. And on his own he penned a tome that is called the Al Azif! The howling devils sang to him with fiendish songs of grief. With fiendish songs of grief, my dear, with fiendish songs of grief! The howling demons sang to him with fiendish songs of grief. Then Unseen Demons killed him dead on a dry Damascus lawn! His words live on for strange aeons, the Necronomicon. The NECRONOMICON, he wrote the Necronomicon! His words live on for strange aeons, the Necronomicon. "
  6. Omg, I remember how much that typo always irritated me in Kotor2 (Vogga’s “horde”)
  7. Australia set to get hit twice by smoke... the very same smoke that is. They really need to work on what they recycle down here https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-13/bushfire-smoke-plume-expected-to-lap-the-globe-nasa-says/11863298
  8. Today was one of those days, where you wake up with watery eyes and a nasal cavity that feels like it's being scoured with sand paper... https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-14/melbourne-air-quality-drops-to-hazardous-from-bushfire-smoke/11865178
  9. So, umm, I’m old enough to recognise Yoko Ono, but who’s the woman to the right?
  10. Despite clueless idiots like the 66 year old in this article (may he rot in jail, although he's likely to go free because of his age), it looks like even little ol' Denmark may end up with a wolf population again (they have been effectively extinct there since 1812) https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/may/01/wild-wolf-shot-and-killed-in-denmark
  11. One of Trumps bosom buddies, Rupert Murdoch has landed in the spotlight for deliberately lying about the causes of fires in his conservative propaganda media empire (News Corp), trying to sell the idea that climate change isn't real, it's all arson. Trump Jr., being from a family of pathological liars, of course jumped the bandwagon, retweeting the lies. Trying to sell the idea that it's caused by almost 200 cases of arson rather than unusually warm and dry summers. The real number is 24 cases of arson, throughout 2019, none of which were related to the current bush fires but a mix ranging from mentally disturbed people who loves fire to insurance fraud, people trying to burn down property to claim insurance money.. A number of other "fire related" offenses includes violating complete fire bans by using a BBQ in your garden and stuff like that, not necessarily causing fires. If Fox News is completely untrustworthy because of their tunnel vision perspective of the world, News Corp outlets are untrustworthy because of outright lies. Funny the Trump family isn't busy labeling them as "fake news" Makes you wonder what goes on inside the heads of people like that... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-51071800
  12. The grounded ones are the MAX series, not the 800 series
  13. I know, not so glamoruous as Trumps constant sabre rattling, but Australia is still burning. Besides Melbourne, Sydney and in particular Canberra suffering under heavy (and dangerous to the health) smoke, the poor Kiwis have gotten their share of the smoke. Not it's the South Americans turn to feel the Aussie heat https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/07/australian-bushfire-smoke-drifts-to-south-america-un-reports Oh, and Australia needs to get the maps updated to 2020: Edit: 25 people confirmed dead, a number of unknowns. Thousands of homes burnt to the ground and 8.5 million hectares of new ash wastes where there used to be forest (including rain forest) and bush land
  14. Love him, hate him... nah, screw that. no love for that piece of human trash that is Scott Morrison (Australian PM who bought his way to the title, after all what is tax money for if not to buy votes in election years, right?)
  15. If at first you don't succeed, and the fail the second, the third etc. time, just keep trying. Some day, Trump will finally get the war against Iran had he so desperately want and need. It sure isn't for lack of trying to throw the US into another war. Life would be simpler he could just be honest for a brief moment in his life, I need re-election so I need a war very badly, both to unite voters and get pesky democrats off my back! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-50996602
  16. Tack saa mycket Azdeus
  17. Woke up to this, this morning... thick smoke hanging over Melbourne and the smell of burning wood is overwhelming. I'll end up like a salami before the day is over (picture taken by me around 10am)
  18. Those areas on the map marked in green...
  19. Australia used to be a nice place... let's commemorate the country that once was:
  20. Oh, it's very much a result of temperatures having been higher than average the last 20 years. The Morrison's government strategy is to subsidize the coal mining industry, especially companies like Adani (Indian company), because global warming is not real, just a figment of our imagination (regardless of the mercury saying something completely different, who cares about facts in electiony ears, which 2019 was). Oh yeah, getting rid of things like carbon tax and whatever else might get in the way of increasing average temperatures. Generally, his response is, shut up, it's all good, can I leave the country and go on holiday now? I love this one 'We cannot control the natural disaster but what we can do is control our response' Edit to add: I'm perfectly well aware, that a country like Australia can't change the climate situation in the short term, much less doing it alone, other countries are contributing a LOT more the the warming, but his attitude is what pisses people off. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-02/scott-morrison-urges-patience-and-calm-to-deal-with-bushfires/11837358
  21. I think Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is going to be the most interesting president that the US will have had in a century... once she gets old enough to run for it Local (Australian) news... New South Wales (NSW) declares State of Emergency @Zoraptor I haven't been to New Zealand recently, but according to the BBC, Australia is now burning so badly, the fire and smoke is visible as an orange thingy on the horizon of the South Island, 2000 km (1200 miles) away. 18 people confirmed dead and 17 missing... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-50969088 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-02/nsw-rural-fire-service-declares-tourist-leave-zone-south-coast/11836730 After WA (Western Australia) and VIC (Victoria) got their share fires, SA (South Australia) is feeling the heat too now, with temperatures around 45C (113F). https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-02/bushfires-could-break-containment-lines-amid-heat-cfs-warns/11837524 Edit: 100000 residents urged to flee the outer suburbs of Melbourne https://www.france24.com/en/20191230-thousands-flee-as-heatwave-fuelled-bushfires-reach-melbourne
  22. I still remember seeing him live in Melbourne last year. A fantastic experience.(warning -profanity in the video lyrics)
  23. Morrison is an utter and complete ****. When **** really hit the fan, he decided it was a good idea to skip country and run away overseas. Tried to weasel his way out of managing a crisis, partly of his own making, until the majority of the press called him out on it.
  24. Canadian firefighters (or 'Kanadian' depending on who you ask) pitching in with a helping hand https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/canadian-firefighters-australia-wildfires-1.5410727 After hitting 40C+ degrees in every state, fire conditions are expected to worsen. For our American readers, that's the equivalent of every state from Oregon to Florida hitting 104F+ degrees at the same time.
